Description:

The "Dissonant Lifetimes" Series: War, Freedom, and Redemption.

Finding love across three lifetimes.

Notes:

How Does the Reincarnation Series Connect?
These Selfish Vows is a dark, action-focused war story that follows Draco and Hermione at their oldest (23/24 and beyond), concluding with their promise to fall in love again over a thousand lifetimes. This is the heaviest of the three lifetimes by far.

Burned Hands and Dragon Tears is the post-war fulfillment of that vow in the next reincarnation, and at younger age (19/20). While Draco and Hermione don't have any conscious memories of their past lives, their souls remember. This story focuses on interpersonal relationships and the universal struggle of growing up. Consider skipping if you're not open to a love triangle (Charlie Weasley). Read if you're interested in classic literature and Star Trek references, a Draco & Mr. Granger friendship, and a BAMF, dragon-riding Hermione. Overall, this is a less dark, coming-of-age romance centered on these characters searching for the freedom they never achieved in the war. And, eventually, finding each other again. However, they can't fix every mistake, so Burned Hands is very much the bridge between these three lifetimes.

Year of the Lioness follows Draco and Hermione at their youngest (18/19), when they, along with the entire gang of snakes, transfer to Durmstrang for eighth year. This is a dark, raw, Draco-only POV that focuses on his own bigotry, extreme bullying against Hermione by a school that views its first Muggle-born student as less than human, and plenty of Durmstrang worldbuilding. This story was also inspired by racial integration in the American civil rights movement.

What is the Correct Reading Order? There is none. Meaning you can "choose your own adventure," and I've personally enjoyed seeing how folks react differently depending on where they start. But if you don't mind WIPs, I'd suggest starting with Year of the Lioness to see if you like my writing style since it's likely the tamest plot-wise. Burned Hands is a good starting place if you enjoy a side of Charmione, while These Selfish Vows is complete and good for folks who indulge in war stories.

Can I Read Only One Story? Yes. Plenty of folks read just one or two parts of this series, depending on their preference. I wrote each story so that readers of multiple parts will be able to notice overlapping events, dialogue, and Easter eggs, but it's not necessary to follow the entire series by any means.

Happy to answer other questions on here or Instagram.

Finally, all three story covers feature an elemental (water-fire-air) theme, and were created by the immensely talented Emmilliaart.

I hope you enjoy the familiar journeys 💙
