“Now, I intend to fling barbs tonight, be they figurative or literal, and since you seem to averse to conversation, it seems you must indulge me in a duel.”
“No,” he said, as expected. What she didn’t expect was the faint crackle of purple to flicker over him, “Will not hurt you.”
She regarded him thoughtfully, preparing to tailor the plan on a whim.
“Is that Spite speaking, or Lucanis?”

Summary
“I’m not—I mean, I’ve read some things, but…” She watched him stumble over his thoughts, hips still squirming down like he couldn’t help himself. It was so painfully endearing and such a turn on she felt suddenly very grateful she was the first and only to witness it. “I’m not certain what you— Tell me what you want.”
“It’s not just about me, Lucanis,” she reminded him, pressing a few sweet kisses to his cheek and jaw, “It’s about what both of us want.”
“Of course,” he breathed as she latched onto a spot just below his beard, “What I mean is, I could use some—”
His body jerked away from her as he was overcome, glowing eyes beaming down at her.
“Give. Directions, Rook. This is embarrassing.”
***
A sequel to Blood and Spite, but can be easily read alone. Set after the fade to black in the final romance scene.
