Summary
This silence was new.
It was a paralleled deja-vu. Something they had definitely lived before- but altered. Fueled with hindsight yet entirely in the moment.
Never before had the choir been on the same page, and Ocean wasn’t sure how to feel. Even with Constance, her best friend, they had never quite read each other's minds. But as each member lifted their heads off sticky park tables and looked around- they were all thinking the same thing.Well, maybe not entirely the same thing. Ocean imagined her inner monologue had less cursing than Mischa’s.

Summary
“Think of it this way- if your body is a car,” She said one day, grasping for a metaphor Mischa would understand. “Let your emotions be the gas, but never take your mind off the wheel.”
“I have no,” Mischa made vague hand gestures. “Whatdoyoucallit- ah, license. I have no license.”
“I believe you’re missing the point.”
“Not even a permit.”

Summary
“Are your parents coming?”
Ocean couldn’t stop herself from making a face. “Probably”
“Isn’t that what you want?” She didn’t have to look at him to know Noel’s head was tilted to the side and that semi judgmental way. He reminder her of a cat.
“I mean, yeah?” Ocean thought of her parents, freshly showered and dressed in their nice clothes. She searched her memory recall the last time they celebrated her. Had her parents ever gone all out with flowers and dinner reservations? Connie’s did for every little thing. “I just, I don’t know. I sound like a brat for complaining that my parents are supporting me. but-“ She ran a hand down her face. “They only support me when there’s something to celebrate? I have to work so hard because if I had nothing to my name, they wouldn’t care. God, Noel. Even if I were saludictorian, they wouldn’t be showing up.”
