“Is your baba a seahorse, too?”, A-Yuan asks.
Jingyi looks at him with a crease between his brows as he blows his fringe out of his eyes. “He’s not my baba,” he says. “And he is not a seahorse. As you can see. He has legs,” he argues, pointing at the man’s legs.
A-Yuan holds his stuffed bunny in a tight grip. “My baba is a seahorse.”
Wei Ying splutters a laugh and barely holds himself back from facepalming himself.
“Your baba also has legs.” Jingyi says with a scrunched-up face, while he looks Wei Ying up and down as if he were looking for a tail or gills. “I don’t see a seahorse.”
“But he birthed me. And male seahorses birth their young, too. So he is a seahorse.”---
LWJ and WWX meet at the aquarium and are instantly smitten.

“There! I see them!” A-Yuan waves enthusiastically with Little Hippo.
Wei Ying searches the sidewalk in front of the petting zoo. His heart skips a beat, when his eyes find Lan Zhan. The man looks like a god among mortals in his light grey wool coat. His hair is half up half down today, cascading over his shoulder in an inky waterfall. A small smile plays at the corner of his eyes. Only Wei Ying’s reflexes prevent him from face planting then and there, when his foot gets caught on a root. The thing must have sneaked up on him. Face as red as the banners announcing a past Chinese New Year event, he waves at Lan Zhan – no less enthusiastic than A-Yuan.
“Lan Zhan!”---
LWJ and WWX meet again, this time at the petting zoo.

Jiejie wraps Wei Ying in a bear hug. “Go get your boyfriend! And don’t do anything I wouldn’t do!” She winks at him as she lets go.
“I’m not sure what that means. And it’s probably better I don’t,” he teases her.
The peacock comes back empty-handed. “Your date is already here.”
“Oh!” Jiejie squeals as if Lan Zhan were her date, and bursts out the door like a hurricane.
“Jiejie!,” Wei Ying calls after her. Without a reaction. He steals himself, takes his rucksack and A-Yuan and leaves.
“- to meet you. A-Ying has been talking about you nonstop,” is what drifts over to him.
It’s a good thing I love her. Otherwise, I would smother her in her sleep. “Haha! What are you talking about?!,” he intercepts with a red face. “I did no such thing!”
“No?” Lan Zhan looks at him with those too light eyes, a soft sparkle in them. “Too bad.”---
