Summary
Ford plants seeds in Stan's mind.
In other words, Ford has wanted Stan for too long. It is time to take matters into his own hands and rectify the situation, even if it means having to alter his own brother's memories.
"When the door opens again, it is 1982 and Stan and Ford are fighting, his brother is gripping the burnt skin of his shoulder. He watches, just for a moment, and admires the smoothness of Stan’s skin in the sickly glow of the portal, the heart-rending desperation of his sobs after he pushes Ford into oblivion."

Summary
Stan forgets many things, but he does not forget his brother.
In other words, how much of Stan has Ford whittled away?
“Ford? What’re you—” His voice is deep, coarse with sleep. His breath hitches as the memories of last night return and he hesitates, pulling himself into a sitting position. “Where are my clothes?” He says quietly. “I remember falling asleep in my clothes.”
“I can’t recall.” Ford does not want to tell him that he stripped him while he slept. It was for entirely altruistic reasons, it would be more comfortable for Stan this way; the rush of running his hands across his brother’s unconscious body was only an indirect yet welcome benefit.
