He'd found the poor thing trapped under a garbage bin outside while he was walking back from work in the rain (Scott had offered to drive, but Bill thought he'd prefer walking to Scott's driving). Bill'd taken one look at it and scooped it up; ran all the way back home and hid it in his coat- which it did not appreciate- to get it past Father.
And now here Bill was.
