Summary
In a small Ukrainian village, Ayla tends to her farm and cares for a variety of animals that find her home a sanctuary. Outside the farm she works at the local clinic as a nurse with a passion for homeopathic medicine. Despite the company of her animals and colleagues, Ayla lives a life of solitude and loneliness is ever present.
In Western France, Jondalar takes on a journey to backpack through Europe in honor of his brother who never had a chance to live his dream of traveling. He sets out east across many countries, experiencing new sights, making new friends, and enjoying the company of women, but he struggles to find true happiness and love. As time passes he grows weary of traveling and becomes careless, getting injured and finding himself under the expert care of a beautiful Ukrainian nurse.
This is a modern retelling of Ayla and Jondalar’s love story from the Earth’s Children book Valley of Horses – this fic has been made as a stand-alone story so readers don’t need to be familiar with the original books to enjoy this story!

Summary
After the earthquake, tensions broil into a split of Broud's clan - the medicine women, the old Mog-Ur, and two hunters and the women of their hearths opt to follow Ayla rather than live in the Clan under Broud. But no one, least of all Ayla, understands the consequences of their choices until long after they have been made.

Summary
“She has a rare gift for knowing, and an amazing knowledge of remedies and treatments; but she lacks skill in just those ways that you are most proficient, finding and relieving the problem that creates the illness, and helping someone want to get well.” — Mamut to Lomie, First Healer of the Mamutoi.
Or, how do you convince a man to live when everyone he loves has died, not by illness or accident, but because, in the end, there was something they wanted more than to stay alive with him?
Or, Ayla invents brain surgery and talk therapy, but it’s not that easy to heal Thonolan’s head when Jondalar dies.
