Hudson went. He sprinted through the forest, blinded by rain, leaves, and his own tears. He heard the rising roar behind him and one last, piercing scream. Louise had fallen.
He scrambled through the forest as fast as he could, not stopping when his knuckles had the skin ripped and his head bonked a low-lying branch. All the while he wanted to stop — his lungs burned — his legs ached — his mind swirled — but the deafening roar, that damned Dark, kept him running for his life.

Eleven children, all from different countries, are born in the midst of the eternal struggle between Light and Dark, possessing powers that no other living being has. All of them --- except one --- go to a little town in Utah, unaware of their powers, to be taught and trained by another. Soon they find themselves embroiled in a conflict bigger than they ever imagined.
