The Geass that Lelouch has is different to canon as in it can be used more than once on a person, however it triggers an imbalance in his hormones that can only be stabilised by being in Suzaku’s presence.
He received it with Suzaku, and his version is a stronger effect than the command ‘Live On’. It however when I’m used increases his adrenaline to lethal proportions.
There’s also a bond factor based on them being literally pulled together after the use of their Geasses. But also a telekinetic link between the two they can use to send thoughts to each other.
