During a reunion party hosted by Howard Stark, the Howling Commandos, Peggy Carter, and George and Winifred Barnes witness a great working of science and fate.
It was then that a body flew through the white tear, followed swiftly by another, both thudding painfully some feet away from where they had come through on the wooden floor on the room.
Peggy trained her sights on the two bodies that were groaning on the ground. They were both face down, and breathing heavily as if they had just been knocked down in the middle of a fight.
One was wearing a deep navy blue body suit, propped awkwardly by his arm on something blocked from her view behind his body. It wasn't until the man managed to flop onto his back that she froze.
"Steve?" Came her disbelieving whisper.

This is an alternate version of my fic "O well I saw the pleasant room, the pleasant faces there" with a similar premise, but with a slightly different take.
I actually wrote this version before that fic, but ended up never finishing it. I liked the idea though, so I reused it! I thought this version was still interesting as a thought experiment/character study—unfinished though it may be—so please enjoy!
