----Desmond just watched at first.
It had taken days to realise where he was, or rather, when he was. Desmond was half convinced he was in a coma or a long-lasting Bleeding episode at first. But it was not the Bleeding Effect, nor did Desmond seem to be in another coma.
He was not in the Animus, but in real world Renaissance Florence.
By the time Desmond finally seemed to snap out of his daze, he stumbled upon the Piazza della Signoria where a large crowd was gathered.
He recognised this scene, though the last time he saw it, he had arrived on the opposite side of the piazza. The last time he had been watching through the eyes of Ezio.
Watching the crowd move, Desmond found himself stopping a nearby woman, “Scusi, signora, but would you happen to know today's date?”
“December 29th.”
Desmond’s eyes were wide in disbelief. “And the year?”
“1476.”
December 29th, 1476.
The day the Auditore family was executed.
—-Or Desmond proves to be increasingly impulsive and Isu Tech seems to hold a grudge against him.

Federico loves his family. He cares for them very much and is following in his father's footsteps to become an Assassin, if just to make sure they will be safe. They mean everything to Federico just on principle. Vieri too, though the way that happened is convoluted at best.
The point is, Federico would do anything to keep his family and lover safe and sound from all that would do them harm.
Ezio, though, is not okay, and it's not easy to keep someone safe from their own mind.

Giovanni Auditore did not expect to be playing host to three and a half time travellers in his home when he woke up this morning, but that's the current situation he's found himself in.
