Desmond needed a job after Bad Weather was closed down for illegal gambling on centaur races.
Yes.
It was as dumb as it sounded.
So now, here he was, applying for an in-house support (whatever that means) for an unknown training center with a centaur that, apparently, needed some assistance after an injury he sustained last year.
He guessed his blood would lead him back to the centaur racing scene sooner or later.
At the very least, in-house support meant he was supposed to fade into the background.

Earlier in the same year that the world nearly ended, Abstergo released a video game based on the memories of a long-dead Assassin, one Aveline de Grandpré.
Aveline herself isn't thrilled by this. The opposite, really. Not that Abstergo would have any way of knowing that the Assassin whose memories they twisted to their own ends is still around. That quite a few other 'dead' Assassins are, too, including some from much more recent times than Aveline's.
The modern Assassins don't know this, either—it's safer that way. But maybe, just maybe, a couple of them can.
