Shadow believes he’s destined to avenge Maria. But when the memory of Maria Robotnik’s true wish resurfaces, he realizes the truth. He sacrifices himself to stop the ARK from crashing into Earth.
And this is where the real-world problem begins.
When SEGA, portrayed in mythic terms as distant cosmic arbiters of canon, “revives” Shadow in 2003 due to overwhelming fan demand, it doesn’t restore his image. It complicates it.

A story mainly focused on developing and exploring the characters and their relationships because its fun. Sonic is at the center of it all due to his role in the inciting incident that was the straw that broke Sonic's back.
This fic mainly follows Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Shadow, with Knuckles and Rouge as supporting cast. Sage, Eggman, Metal, Orbot, and Cubot have some chapters to themselves as well! :D
