Summary
He’s still uneasy above her, shifting his weight awkwardly, the same look as earlier tonight. Ready to give her whatever she wants to keep her even-keeled and steady, no matter the cost, ready to let her rush ahead and pull them all into danger, ready to slip her a strong drink to keep her at his side. She doesn’t want liquor.
Veth can't stop needing things she shouldn't have. Compared to Caleb, alcohol's easy to quit.

Summary
“Nott. My friend.” Nott pretends her heart does not jump at that, just a little. Friends seemed like a concept that belonged solely in the past, up until recently, along with home and happiness and hope. “What are you doing?”
Caleb really is the most obtuse clever person Nott has ever known. “I’m making a flower crown.”
He seems almost bemused, watching her examine and pick her material.
“Do Goblins weave flower crowns?”
Probably not.
“I told you,” Nott says. “Everyone likes flowers.”

Summary
I don't understand what this means. It's a mythic story--something out of legend. Out of the Shapers' War. Secret weapons. Masked players who killed a trickster god. I don't know how it fits into everyday life. I don't know how it fits into my kitchen.
“Are you in trouble?” I ask.
“What a question,” Bolaire mutters, looking to the side. “Am I in trouble? I suppose I'm not in any new sort of trouble.”
“So you're in old trouble,” I say.
“Living as a perpetual lie involves a certain amount of ongoing trouble,” he says. “That's the nature of the beast.”
