He can stay on the ship for a while until he can think of a way to break the news, which, who knows when that'll be. Maybe in a few weeks, or maybe until the baby is close to being born. In the meantime, he has to be mindful of himself. A human pregnancy requires lots of vigilance and rest, which shouldn't be too hard. He might go stir-crazy, but it's the least he can handle.
Vash doesn't get a normal pregnancy because he's not normal.

Vash had been acting strangely for the better part of their car journey. Meryl had been silently watching him out of the corner of her eye, how he was fidgeting and squirming in his seat. She knew he could get into some strange moods, from silently staring out of the window for hours on end – deep in his thoughts and a sad look on his face, as if he was scanning to horizon for a certain someone – to endlessly chattering about this and that. This current mood was new though, she catalogued it away for later pondering.

Set in the same AU as the rest of the series (post-trimax canon fix-it), however this takes place before Part 1, which means that Wolfwood isn't here yet.
