    With a press of a button on the side of the glasses, Mac came to life. But, they were not really in a position to talk, apparently.

    Mac was hunched over their wheelchair, burying their beet-red face into their glasses and shivering visibly. You were about to make a joke about embarrassing pre-teen days, before you took a closer look. That shiver wasn’t from embarrassment. And the little groans of what you thought was dread were indeed incited by the exact opposite.

    Ah, I see.

    "Oh fuck."

    He hadn't meant it. The words just slipped out. Fuck, fuck, fuck, he should hang up---

     

    "...I beg your pardon?"

     

    Will began spluttering into the phone. "Uh... I-I'm so, so sorry. This is a mistake. I... I dialled the wrong number. I'm sorry for disturbing you, goodbye-"

    The stranger - who sounded distinctly male with an European-ish accent from the way he had spoken earlier - stopped him. "Please wait."
