Summary
Jacob Hargreave was many things. Brilliant. Powerful. Self-confident. Paranoid. Maybe a little narcissistic.
But he loved humanity, for all its many flaws.
He had plans in place to deal with the Ceph threat. Ideally, personally.
But never let it be said he was reckless. He had backup plans for his backup plans.When Prophet took the only Nanosuit 2.0 with the Lingshan iteration, he expedited the construction of a ship. An arc.
But New York is falling apart around him. A Ceph bioweapon is set to destroy humanity itself. And a the walking corpse of a Marine is slowly grafting itself into his only hope for saving humanity.
Hargreave is many things. But he isn't a gambler.
The Arc was launched. Before it was fully finished, but more than enough to preserve humanity. Even if he fails to save Earth.
Unfortunately, without Prophet's Nanosuit 2.0, he was trapped on Roosevelt Island. The only other functional model lacked the Lingshan iteration, stored away with the Arc and well out of his reach before the doomsday clock struck midnight.
Hargreave didn't trust anyone else alive to guide humanity back to the stars. Not without an agenda.
So, why not just make one?
