Kaeya and Diluc were slowly getting used to the fact that Diluc returned from his long absence after that particular night and gone from throwing jabs at each other to awkwardly dancing around the huge gap between them, not knowing how to bridge it.
Until one day, a certain device gets activated in the Chasm and Kaeya collapses, only to turn back into a little kid who has only ever known life in his birthland, Khaenri'ah.
Or, the de-aged Kaeya story where Diluc realizes how hard it is for Kaeya to know where his loyalties lie and Kaeya realizes that maybe he doesn't always need to carry the world on his shoulders alone.
