Summary
Zuko was always different from other people. Mother told him that was because he was unique and that he shouldn't feel bad for being himself. Father would say that Zuko was better than the other children and that it's stupid to want to be like his simple-minded peers. Azula who loved being treated as superior would laugh at him for being such a dumdum that he couldn't even appreciate being royalty.
But Zuko never asked to being different or special. He did not like being subjected under his Father's cold gaze or as the years went by Mother's fearful eyes. But like most things in his life, no one asked for Zuko's opinion, so he did what he did best and obeyed like the loyal son that he was. Never did he step out of line or spoke out of turn the only thought in his mind was to survive no matter what. Even if it meant that his hands got bloody, or he woke up in a cold sweat seeing blank eyes staring back at him. Zuko was the son of his father and the child of his nation, and he will obey even if it meant losing his humanity in the process.
