Things were weird. Weirder than usual, or else he probably wouldn’t be here, in the same place he was on this day exactly a year ago now, an overpriced restaurant that smelled like pasta and expensive perfume.
Abed looked pretty much normal, which was a reassuring sight. The shirt he had on under his cardigan was a solid navy blue instead of being decorated with some brightly colored graphic, but he was still clearly Abed, the same soft footfalls and tight-lipped smile as always.
“Thanks for doing this,” Abed said, looking down at the place setting like he was trying to remember how all the forks worked again, “Again.”
“Not sure it’s a night I’d want to repeat, but—“
Jeff almost said anything for you, which would be the truth.
