Summary
There is an enticing sort of freedom in the way Ranpo looks at him in these moments, like Dazai is an idiot, like he’s one of the officers at the Yokohama police department that Ranpo finds almost endearingly stupid. From anyone else, Dazai would find this attitude annoying at best, but from Ranpo, it is like freedom. Here, Dazai doesn’t have to be the smartest person in the room. Here, naked on his back the conference table of the Armed Detective Agency’s meeting room, Ranpo laid out across his body, hot, bright, sharp as a knife, Dazai finds himself just as enamoured with him as he had been the first day they’d met.
