The crowd reacted instantly. Almost, as if he could hear the cheers from his classmates and the sound of camera clicking, trying to capture the moment.
But Nakamura barely moved.
He was still turned slightly toward Matsumura.
The world above them had begun to burn, but he couldn’t quite pull his attention away from what was closer.
Matsumura’s face flickered under the shifting light—gold, then white, then a fading red that softened the lines of his expression.
