Inspired by 'Temporary Temple Guards' - must read to have context for this fanfic.
Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi is left without backup, without guidance, and without a home to return to after the Jedi Temple falls. With a gaggle of children now relying upon him to protect their future as the Sith Empire rises, he must grapple with his complicated history and return to Mandalore. He is more than aware that as a Jedi, many Mandalorians would be happy to kill him without mercy, the only comfort is his familiarity with their culture, that even if they kill him, at least they will protect the children, and that ultimately has to be enough.

A 'Gellert escapes prision after seeing the alternative' fanfic. I've been reading a lot of these recently on ao3 and wanted to try my own spin on it. Nothing is intentionally copied from similar fanfics though there will surely be alike plot points or ideas, considering the core timeline is the same. I encourage you to read some of these, they're beautifully written and a great read if you like the concept. That said if you have decided to give this one a try. Enjoy :]

“They tried to make them fight the Younglings. Some kind of Jedi vs Mandalorian thing. I want to bring them home.”
“To Keldabe? You have lost your mind.”
“The Republic would use them for leverage. It could escalate to war– things have been way too tense for way too long.” Obi-Wan argued.
“Going to Mandalorian Space is suicide.”
“I would rather risk my life than see children used as political pawns or worse, as leverage in war.”
“They are the enemy, Obes. If they get their hands on you they would not be so gracious.”
“There are no enemy children in war. Just children.”
Quinlan knew there was no convincing Obi-Wan at this point. “Fine. But don’t come crying to me when things go wrong.”
They both knew Quinlan would be the first to aid Obi-Wan should things go wrong.
Him and the rest of the Bear Clan.
