Maybe now would be a good time to introduce myself. My name is Virgil. I’m nearly twenty-five years old, widower, and a father of two. I’ve lived in the walls of this house with the rest of my friends and family since I was a little boy. Much younger than the giant boy who’s now inspecting me before his curious gaze. This has been my home for all of my life. I don’t remember much, if any, of the outside world. I do, however, remember what life was like before the current family in this house moved in nearly thirteen years ago.

Far below on a street packed with tons of little vehicles, dozens of panicked city-dwellers are running. From the camera’s perspective they look like little bugs, their facial features obscured by the distance and the sheer density of them. It’s remarkable how organized they seem to be in such a large, panicked cluster. But, just what are they running from?

He paid no mind to my constant screams, and soon I had hollered myself hoarse and hardly able to make a peep. Evidently satisfied with me, I began to descend. In one hand, he held me, and with the other I watched him hook a thumb in the bright blue waistband of those cotton briefs. I was seeing what so many others had saw, and knew that my fate was sealed. I was going in there, and I would be taken back home with him if I survived the trip.
