Summary
Since Arryn learned the truth of his nature and the barest hint of his past, he’s been trying to endear himself to her by any means necessary. And considering the frequency of their… ethical disagreements, his personality alone likely won’t be enough to get him there. He’s made some subtle attempts to feel out her interest, and she’s always volleyed them right back with a wry comment and a knowing look. She never seems particularly impressed.
But if ever there were an opportunity to take the unsubtle approach and run with it as far as he could, it’d be right now.
An alternate timeline to Between friends, wherein I imagine how it would go between Astarion and my normally high-WIS druid, Arryn, if she’d been drunk enough to hook up with him all the way back at the tiefling party. And what would happen after, because nothing is ever that simple.
From Astarion’s POV.
Started as a one-shot, now a bigger multi-chapter thing. Slow burn after chapter one.

Summary
With Astarion, the wanting comes in waves. Sometimes Arryn rides them without showing her hand or breaking a sweat. And sometimes the current sweeps her away.
Arryn’s POV of the blood drinking scene in Chapter 10 of Cost/benefit, and a look at what she does when she’s alone afterward. It’s exactly what you think.

Summary
If Karlach ever did feel the need to ask Damaris why, exactly, she kills people who hurt children, she’d say, I do this because I have failed to save them. Giving them better lives is a futile effort. Help will be punished, safety will be stolen; all I can offer is revenge. It took a lot of brutal loss for Damaris to get that through her skull, but she knows it now.
And yet. This time. She really thought, this time, that she might actually do it. Maybe she stole a taste of Karlach’s optimism and it sank too deep into her system to pry out; maybe she just forgot the ways of the world. But somehow she let herself think that she could save Yenna.
Damaris has been broken for a while, and vengeance doesn’t leave much space for healing.
When Orin the Red slips into their camp to rip her old wounds open, it’s Karlach’s job to hold her girl together.

Set between chapters 2 and 3 of Cost/benefit. Astarion is trying to solidify his position. Arryn is trying to squeeze truth from a stone. It works until it doesn’t.

Summary
Arryn has a hard time with dishonesty. Astarion’s entire personality is an elaborate shell game. In spite of this, they get along. When lines are crossed, you have to erase them and draw new ones.
AKA I couldn’t stop thinking about the scene you can get in Sharess’ Caress with the twins and an un-romanced high approval Astarion, and the conversation I wished my Tav could have with him afterward, and the only way to get it out of my head was to write this and it turned into a whole thing.
