Columbina was practically glued to Sandrone's side; on the outside she was bothered by it, but on the inside, Sandrone couldn't have wished for something more sweeter than the feeling of her "best friend" at her side.
It was reassurance, that indeed, she wouldn't lose someone she cared about again; that Columbina was safe and sound by her side.
OR: Both Sandrone and Columbina are very clingy, one is just more shy about it.
OR OR: Sandrone is actually really fucking clingy -- just in private.

Summary
Now, Sandrone knows what they all say about love: that it’s better than being drunk, being high. But neither of those have ever appealed to her in the slightest and so she’d always taken it to mean that love is complete and utter nonsense.
Maybe, she thinks quietly as Columbina presses in, it is not so nonsensical after all.
It’s Sandrone’s first time celebrating New Year’s with someone.
