Bookmarker's Notes
Absolutely wonderful fic that to me deftly captures the spirit and ideas of the Earthsea series. One big question I was left with after finishing Earthsea was what magic might look like after the walls had been torn down, and this fic perfectly answers that question with such thoughtfulness and heart. Love love love!

Summary
And then something makes you turn your head to look over your shoulder. It’s like a thread tugging at the back of your skull, so thin and light it’s barely perceptible. You glance across the room, right to left, and the shimmering thread snaps when you see blue eyes.
He backs away immediately and the shadow of his hood envelops his face. You almost can’t believe it, almost convince yourself it’s your mind wishing for anyone from your past to show up, anyone even vaguely familiar. But when you turn your entire body away from the counter, you know it is Obi-Wan Kenobi.
(You run to Tatooine for safety. There you find a man you knew, once. Before the Empire. Maybe you can learn to be alone together.)

The gold standard for reader-insert fic, like it is so serious to me...

Summary
There’s something, some words hanging on his throat that he wishes he could tell her though they never come. He thought he might have grown used to them by now but he’s surprised by it all over again.
