Harry and Ginny have always had the kind of on-again off-again relationship that sets Draco’s teeth on edge—his pureblood sensibilities simply can’t fathom that ability to give anything less than everything to someone you claimed was your partner, but he supposes he’s not exactly in a position to wax poetic about commitment (especially when that position is on his back, below Harry, his rebound once again). The bloody Chosen One and his chosen one, who he kept bouncing back to as though this time, they’d be able to force their jagged edges together correctly. They’d snap back together inevitably, a rubber band gone taut.
Draco takes to soothing his smarting ego by reminding himself that Harry keeps bouncing back to him, as well. He just needs to make it stick.
