Chapter 1: Shouldn't You Be Dead?

Chapter Text

It was a cloudy day in Tokyo. Gin and Vodka had just concluded a drug deal, which ended with them having a lot of cash yet some cocaine that they didn't sell.

"How did we end up with more cocaine than originally planned to sell?" Vodka asked.

"Probably some idiot who didn't pay enough attention while weighing it." Responded Gin.

"Oh well. Better having more than less I guess."

Suddenly they heard footsteps coming to their direction.

Who the hell other than us can be here? We made sure the police didn't intercept our calls with the clients. Goddamit, if those assholes called the cops I'll make sure to get the drug back without asking nicely first, Gin thought while drawing his gun out of his coat, as well as did Vodka.

They definitely didn't expect to see who they just saw.

"Ah, good to see you guys have some left. I run out of it and I was searching for someone to restock me. Don't worry, I got enough money to pay for it."

As soon as he spoke the man realized who he was talking to.

"Ah."

"What the fuck are you doing here and why the fuck are you alive, Akai." Gin asked, eyes wide from the shock of seeing Shuichi Akai, of all the people, alive and in front of him, asking to sell him some cocaine.

"Well, if this isn't a weird encouter I would have never hoped to have." Akai answered.

"Before I kill you, because I will kill you, I really want you to answer me: why are you buying cocaine. It's not flour nor sugar, it's drugs. Something illegal. You're an FBI agent. Explain." Gin requested, still shocked.

"Well, you see... I don't really have an explanation. And frankly, even if I did, I wouldn't tell you out of all the people." Akai retorted.

A moment of silence was set between the two, who clearly had forgotten that Vodka was still there, too shocked to speak as well.

"Wha-" Gin started, just to be stopped by Akai.

"Ok listen, let's make this deal: you give me the stuff, I pay for it, we both forget we met each other and everyone gets home safe and untouched."

Gin looked at him for some time, then looked at Vodka, who was yet to understand what was going on, then back at Akai.

"Deal" he finally said, giving Akai what he had paid for.

"Uh, Aniki, did you just..." Vodka began.

"Alright, now, I know I wanted to kill him, but frankly, doing so while he's high on cocaine and probably not even able to spell his own name isn't fun at all. Also, Anokata finding out that he's alive after a drug deal that ended up so well just isn't in my plans." Gin said before his companion could say anything.

"But-"

"Look, we get back to headquarters, tell Anokata about the deal, make him happy, get our money for the great job, and when we meet Akai again in the future we will deal with him. He surely won't talk, after all he doesn't want people knowing about his addiction."

"I- uh, I guess... Ok?" Vodka said unsure.

"Good." Gin retorted, heading back to his car.
