Chapter Text
Deku's POV
It felt like we had been at war for centuries even though I had only inherited One For All a decade ago that early morning when All Might had giving me that strand of golden hair that had changed my life forever. All these years of pain and torment caused by Tomura Shigaraki and his League of Villains was about to come to an end. I would finally be able to fulfill the promise I had made to All Might three years ago when he had been laying in my arms and taken his final breath. I shuddered just remembering how the night sky had been filled with the sounds of explosions and people crying out as All Might’s hometown burned. Another shiver ran over my body, darn it right now was not the time to be thinking of such things. Right now, my focus should be the raid that was going on right now as my friends and I fought to put an end to the League. The fight with Shigaraki had been intense, over the years he had grown into quite the opponent he always seemed to be a step ahead always having the upper hand but tonight things had changed. The cards had been in their favor and someway somehow, I had been able to take him down. It had not been easy, my right arm had been dislocated during the fight and the pain in her right leg felt like a stress fracture not to mention how she was covered in scratches, bruises and blood but I felt quite lucky since it could have been worst. A paramedic at the scene had helped pop her shoulder back into place as they had begun loading Shigaraki into The Maiden. With him being taken care of I had rushed back into the scene in pursuit of Himiko Toga. Toga’s quirk was something out of this world, her quirk had developed into a whole new level and now she could gain the appearance and quirks of the people she drank from for longer periods of time as well as being able to transform up to four different people a day. Himiko Toga was not someone to be underestimated. I ran down the hallway of the third floor making my way towards her last known sighting Full Cowling crackling around me in green electricity when movement from the corner of my eyes had me immediately dropped low and put my foot out in attempt to sweep and topple over whoever was behind me. Her giggles echoed across the shattered hallway as she did a backflip and jumped away from my reach. I rose to my feet and faced her, her cheeks were a rosy pink and her amber eyes twinkled with glee and insanity, "Deku!".
She grinned, slowly made her way towards me and the way she walked kinda reminded me of a cat stalking its prey. Her arms that had been behind her moved as she began advancing in my direction sharp silver knifes in both of her hands, “Oh Izumi! You look so cute today! Is that new lip gloss you are wearing?” she asked happily as I dodged on of her arms but missed her second one as her knifes left a long gash across my abdomen causing her to squeak in excitement, “Oh so pretty for sure!” Even after all these years I was still one of her main obsessions never stopping in her pursuit of becoming 'a part of me' as she had said time and time again.
"Toga! Stop now I don't want to hurt you!" I dodged and landed a kick on her wrist causing her to drop one of her knives her smile disappeared as she glared at me, “I’m trying to make you pretty. Let me make you pretty!” she screamed in outraged as she tackled me and we both went tumbling onto the ground. She was laughing hysterically as we came to a stop near the glass ledge that gave an overview of the indoor courtyard below where the main fighting was taking place. Darn, when had they gotten this close to the ledge?! One wrong move and it could send both tumbling three stories below and onto the concrete floor. She was on top of me and somewhere along the way she had lost the second knife but even so that didn’t make her any less dangerous especially right now in this moment when one of her hand was beginning to glow a dark mysterious lavender. Her sharp nails began moving towards me as she aimed at my eyes I was able to block her but her glowing fist still manage to catch me on my chin and for a second my heart stop as I was filled with dread, what was that? Had Toga gotten a new quirk better yet what was that purple glow? Using all the strength I could muster I buckled up and swung connecting with her cheek as I turned us away from the edge and tried putting some distance between me and her.
Jumping up and then moving back putting some distance between the two of us my heart was hammering in my chest as I did a quick check. I wasn't feeling any different, there was no pain or discomfort of any sort beside the regular ache that comes with being punched in the face, what had that purple glow been then? Toga was rising to her feet her cheek where I had struck her was already beginning to swell and her bottom lip was now busted trickling blood down her cheek but even so she smiled widely causing her lip to crack further, "Oh Deku this is going to be so much fun!"
An explosion and loud shout erupting from down below had both of us momentarily distracted as we turned towards the sound but even though I wasn’t able to see him yet my heart lurched at the sound of his voice. Another explosion echoed around before came into view. His crimson red eyes shine with his confidence and strength, “Die!”.
Toga screeched as she tried to move away and escape since she was now outmatched but it was already to late since he send a strong blast her way causing her to slam against the wall behind her before she crumbled to the floor. She was not moving.
"Kacchan! You must be careful. You could have killed her!" I yelled as I ran towards Toga checking her pulse before restraining her body with the super handcuffs Hatsume had made for them. Katsuki Bakugo huffed and came to stand next to me and crossing his arms across his chest as I leaned Toga against the wall into a comfortable position before standing up and facing the Explosion hero.
“Well?” I asked.
He rolled his eyes, "It's not my fault that she was so fucking weak. Did she hurt you?" His eyes ran up and down my body as he took in my visible injuries. Even though he was just looking me over for injuries his gaze on me made fire burn in my veins and my cheeks to darken a harsh red. His concern frown morphed into a cocky grin as he wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me close as he kissed my forehead, " My sweet Deku as much as I would love to fucking ravish you to the point where you forget your own name we do have more important things to do. But what about a rain check let’s say later tonight after I cook you a fucking fantastic dinner”.
I grinned and pushed him away, "You do that on purpose” I accused him as the blush on my cheeks failed to go away as he leaned closer to my awaiting lips.
He shrugged, "I like making you blush nerd. Sue me."
I smiled getting on my tip toes and meeting him halfway as our lips meet, he tasted like Bakugo and the spicy noodles they had for lunch. It was perfect, he was perfect.
"Oi! Really guys, right now is definitely not a good time!" Red Riot shouted as making me pull away from an irritated looking Kacchan.
"Babe let them be! They so cute!" Pinky said who was right beside him as the stop in front of us.
"Sorry." I said blushing as I stepped away from Bakugo just rolled his eyes and nodded at them as we got back to mission mode, "What's the update?"
"Todoroki already took down Dabi. Compress is gone along with Spinner but Kaminari and Earphone Jack are right on their tail. The newest member, Dolos is the only one that remains. Shigaraki is already on the move and one his way to Tartarus with Endeavor and Le Million leading the convoy. Thanks to you guys we are finally going to be able to put them all away for good!" I felt so happy right now however it had been a team effort from all of them to finally being able to pin the League down. Now it would seem that the only problem left was Dolos. This villain was new to the League and had a powerful quirk that could cause a person to forget events and people in their lives and no one knew how long the effects of his quirk could last. It could be from days to months maybe even a year a quirk analysis had told them in the briefing that had taken place before the raid.
"What about the minor thugs they had around?" Bakugo asking as sounds of rage filled cries echoed around us.
Kirishima shrugged, "The police are trying to handle and finish arresting all those criminals that are left. Why don’t we separate and help start taking them so we can get down with this faster?”
"Good idea. The quicker we can get this done the better”.
Splitting up had sounded like a good idea at the time, thinking about it now as I sat in the waiting room of the hero hospital my once white gloves now covered in Kacchan’s dried blood I wish I was able to turn back time so that I could have gone with him or better yet traded places with him. Bakugo had been in surgery for the last two hours. He had stumbled upon Dolos and as the building began to crumble around them from their battle the villain had shown his hidden card. He had more than one quirk just like Shigaraki and All For One and that second quirk was Bloodcurdle. I had found them minutes before the building fully collapsed and the sight was one that would forever be embedded in my mind. Kacchan unconscious on the ground, a long gash above his right eye and disappearing into his ash blonde hair that was now during a dark red. The sight of him lying in a pool of his own blood as he laid beaten and bruised with a knife sticking out from his stomach…
And that damn villain had managed to get away! I had no choice it was either safe her childhood friend or stop that smug criminal from escaping in the mist of all the chaos. I was furious with myself, maybe if I had been stronger or faster, she could have been there to prevent Kacchan from getting hurt. If I were more like All Might maybe, then the man I love wouldn’t been lying in a hospital bed so near death…
My eyes filled with tears and I quickly whipped them away, I had to be strong, I shouldn’t even be worried since that man was more stubborn that anything there wasn’t anything he couldn’t face. He would make it out of this just fine. The door where they had wheeled him three hours ago swung open and Recovery Girl and a male doctor walked out.
I stood, “How is he?”
“He’s as strong as ever that one” Recovery Girl said giving me hope.
"He's a fighter alright" her colleague said looking over some paperwork on the chart he was holding, “He had a stab wound to his abdomen, a major concussion, three broken ribs as well as some scrapes and bruises. Recovery Girl here assisted me in surgery and did a good majority of healing, but we do have some concerns.” The doctor said as he looked down at Recovery
"Recovery Girl you weren’t able to heal him fully?"
“I’m not as young as I use to be when you kids were back in school. Using my quirk takes a lot out of me especially with the extensive injuries Bakugo had. I’ve also been helping with others who were injured during the raid”.
I nodded, “Yes of course I’m sorry I don’t mean to sound ungrateful thank you so much for everything you guys have done so far for him. But what’s the problem? When the nurse came out here a few moments ago she said he was sable and recovering and we were just waiting for him to wake up from his anesthesia. When will I be able to see him?”.
“He’s actually awake right now. The nurse just informed us and we wanted to get you to together before we address this further”. I nodded eagerly following them past the double door and we turned right and made our way down the hall. My need to see him growing by the second the closer we got. Kacchan had grown into a great guy, he was softer around the edges and was more caring and patient as all these challenges, his wins and losses he had experience has a Pro-Hero had shaped him into the number one hero in the world. The door to his room opened and as his crimson eyes meet my dark emerald once I couldn’t contain myself as I pushed past Recovery Girl and the doctor and enveloped him in a tight hug. I smiled and pressed my lips against his before pulling away so I could see his beautiful face, “I was so worried Katsuki”.
There was a heavy pause and a frown formed on Kachan face right before he shoved me away and sneered at me, "What the fuck do you think you’re doing Shitty Deku! Get away from me you stupid nerd!".
My heart dropped, "What do you mean Kacchan?"
He narrowed his eyes at me, "Why the fuck are you here? Where is Camie?"
I was suddenly thinking back to meeting before the raid, Dolos has the ability to erase memories. His victims that we have questions show that his power has a long range. He can erase people's memory from a couple of days to a couple of years the way he activates his quirk is by touching you with all five of his fingers. Always avoid close combat with him since we still have no idea how to undo his quirk. With some of its victims they remember everything from their lives before but there are other that just till this day do not remember who they use to be before they meet him.
"Kacchan what year is it?" I asked dreading the answer he was about to give.
He huffed, "What stupid question is that?”
“Can you just answer the question Mr. Bakugo” the doctor insisted already coming to the same or if not a similar conclusion that I had.
“Its 2014 you damn morons” he said grumpily.
I felt as if my whole world came crashing down when he said those few words.
“Ground Zero I mean Bakugo” Recovery Girl began saying however her voice sounded distant to me, it sound like if I was underwater, “You, Midoriya as well as others were involved in a police raid against the League of Villains… It’s not easy to say this but … the year isn’t 2014. Its June 3, 2020”.
Bakugo blinked, "The hell?!"
