Ikiryō are the souls of still-living people which have temporarily left their bodies and move about on their own.
The most common form on ikiryō is one born of rage and vengeance. Just as the ghosts of the dead can go after those who wrong them in life, an ikiryō can manifest from one living person to curse another. These are also usually unconscious manifestations, however a few famous examples of conscious manifestations of ikiryō curses exist. The pilgrimage of the hour of the ox (ushi no koku mairi) and ichijama (from Okinawa) are ceremonial curses in which a person consciously sends their soul from their body to hurt or to kill their enemies. Of course, this sort of black magic often has dire consequences for the performer as well as the target.
During the Edo period, ikiryō were considered a symptom of certain illnesses, such as the aptly-named rikonbyō, or “detached soul syndrome,” and kage no yamai, or “shadow illness.”
This is a canon divergence Villain Midoriya fic where after being told he cannot be a hero without a Quirk, Izuku takes Katsuki's advice and throws himself off a roof. Just as a warning, there WILL be MAJOR Character Death. No I will not tell you who, or how many.

The QDP, known to the public as the Quirkless Dream Promise. Where the quirkless had a chance to shine, to achieve their dreams. Society was harsh on the quirkless population, so the Hero Public Safety Commision took it into their hands to solve the problem.
Thousands of Graduates from the QDP have been interviewed, from business owners, doctors, to office workers. The program has a 97% success rate. A few of the participants unfortunately slip through the cracks. Of course it is not a full proof project. The QDP was established a little over 10 years ago, and is planned to begin expansion beyond Japan.
Mikumo Akatani is a Hero student at UA, the first person in history to enter the heroics program without a quirk. He is the face of the QDP's expansion plans, appearing in hundreds of interviews across the globe, showing his talents for multi language communication as well as a charming personality.
They have begun to call him Mochi No Hoshi, Star Of Hope.
Yet when his hero name was announced the public was confused.

Izuku is a local teenage spray painter who has an eye for colors. Ducking into alleyways and bringing beauty to old, sanitized buildings brings him a sense of purpose. In a way, it feels like he’s making his mark as a quirkless person, etching away little marks and cuts into the world so it can remember him by, even if it never quite liked him.
Eraserhead, on the other hand, is an Underground villain with a massive following and eyes for blood. Ducking into alleyways to take his kills, beating his boot against an ugly bastards head until it crunched. In a way, it feels like he’s making his mark as a villain, someone who was betrayed by the world and was forcibly making them regret it.
He was just supposed to be in town for a month. Not after he saw that picture, though, painted onto a crooked old billboard that had fallen due to neglect down by the trash littered beach. A little girl, etched in bright colors, staring off towards where the sun would rise every morning. She stands there, with bright red shoes that pop from the rest of the pallet.
Eraserhead has a problem with obsessions as well. Izuku will find that out very quickly.

Shouta Aizawa met a young vigilante one day during one of his patrols. A reckless young boy who couldn’t be older than 14 with no self-preservation. He did his best to keep him safe whenever he was on patrol but the young boy had a knack for getting himself into trouble. One day the boy has a request. One Aizawa could never fulfill
He fully intended on dying that day and yet he woke up. Bakugou was right though. Taking a swan dive off a roof did end up giving him a quirk. For once in his life, Izuku Midoriya wished he didn’t have a quirk.
