Work Text:
Since they moved in to their new headquarter, Dabi was disappearing more often. At first, it wasn’t something unusual. He’d always been a lone wolf. However, when the everyday disappearances between 6:30 and 8 in the morning started, Tomura knew that something was up with the burnt villain.
Their new hideout was relatively close to the rich district of Musutafu where most Pro Heroes lived. Tomura knew that Dabi wasn’t stupid enough to attack one of them, but followed him nonetheless. He couldn’t imagine what other reason a villain would’ve to go there. His fellow teammate stopped across from a big house and – as pathetic as it sounded – hid behind a bush.
Tomura’s eyebrows twitched, but he knelt down beside him. A few moments later the front gate opened and a casually dressed woman walked in, humming to herself softly. She had white hair with some red locks and wore a pink blazer with blue jeans. She was the personalization of ’average’. Tomura turned his head towards Dabi to ask him why in the world he gave so much attention to someone like that, but the look in his eyes made the air catch in his throat. That kind of look of utter adoration – he knew it too well.
”Fuck!” He swore eventually, capturing Dabi’s attention. The man looked at him as if he didn’t realize that Tomura had been beside him this whole time. ”Why didn’t you tell you had a sister?” Tomura asked and Dabi’s eyes widened.
”Why are you so sure about that?” He burnt man asked back, but it was such lame of a trying that Tomura rolled his eyes.
”I’ve been examining people for a long time and I have never seen you looking at someone with so much adoration.”
”Cut the crap!” Dabi growled with narrowed eyes. ”Before the League was formed, you didn’t do shit, only sat in the bar, planning your childish plan of attacking U.A.! I hope, I don’t have to remind you how good that went.” Dabi stood up from his crouching position, but before he could’ve left, Tomura grabbed his jacket with three fingers.
”You’re not going anywhere!” He hissed, clutching Dabi’s jacket with his fourth finger. ”I don’t care about your reason, but if it means the League can get in trouble, I’ll kill you right here and now.”
”Fuck you!” Dabi cursed, but crouched back with a scowl. For a moment, Tomura debated whether he should tell him the truth or not, but then he made his choice.
”What if I tell you I had a sister too?” Dabi let out a gasp, then a choked laugh. It had to be the joke of the century! Hearing that, Tomura elbowed him in the side.
”A sister? You?” Dabi asked in disbelief. In that moment, he had to realized how little the League really knew about their boss.
”She was older than me and was killed by a villain.”
Dabi felt as an ’I’m sorry’ was forming on his tongue, but pressed his lips together. These kinds of words didn’t mean shit – they couldn’t bring back the dead after all. Instead, he turned his eyes towards the sky and sighed.
”Life is a bitch,” he stated and Tomura snorted.
”I second that.”
