This scene was familiar to me from my own childhood. The smell of apple pie coming from the oven, an apron covered in flour and a young child’s question hanging on the air. A question that was in fact a million other questions rolled in one. Except I was the adult and not the child this time.
I must admit that despite the fact that I myself became a mother I hadn’t felt a kinship with my own over motherhood. Our situations were different. She was from a small village two hours on car away from the nearest city. She moved us, me and my sister, to the big city after our father’s murder at a time I was almost too young to remember him. She worked day and night under other people, jobs that she described as “spine breakers”, before she managed to open her own shop. She died before I gave birth to my own child.
I’ve always loved my mother and respected her both as a parent and as an entrepreneur. But the older I grew the more distant she became to me. Don’t misunderstand me. Saiko Yuzu managed to adapt quickly to the life in the big city to the point where people couldn’t tell that she hadn’t been born and raised in one and remained a constant part of her children’s lives until the end of hers. It was the small things that did it. Those held close to her chest and hidden from those who weren’t family that made her –alien- for a lack of a better word.
But right then and there I understood her. I felt all of my pain, suffering and anger rest on my bones. Instead of making me feel tired or old, I felt as if they turned to strength and power. For a moment I wondered if this is how people with quirks felt like all the time.
“Do you think I can become a journalist?”
“Do you think I can become a hero?”
Looking at my grandson I though, You are going to have a better life than me.
I gave him the same answer my mother gave me.
“Why not? What do other people have that you do not? You are smart and determined and –thank god- healthy.”
“But-. I don’t have a quirk.”
“That is not important. Neither do I but with hard work and taking advantage of the opportunities I have managed to live a happy life and achieve my dream.”
With that Izuku left, happy that someone believed in him, and I sat myself in front of my laptop ready to do what I was best at.

Yesterday’s incident at this point is well known to everyone, especially since it was on live TV. I am going to give you the short version of it just to make sure we are all on the same page before I go on to my main point.

The only conclusion that can come from this is that Death Arms, someone who became an official hero two years ago after spending five years as the Pro Hero Tandem’s sidekick and Mt. Lady who literally had her Hero debut at the same day as the Sludge Villain Incident should be getting reprimands for their un-Hero like behavior and maybe get reevaluated on whether or not they are ready to be solo heroes.
I think it is time that regular reevaluation must be set. This is not the first time that sidekicks and heroes-in-training held themselves to a certain standard until they became official Heroes.
Or worse.

So I am visiting my grandmother who lives near Dagobah Municipal Beach Park. Those who follow me know that we have been trying to convince her to move away because up until yesterday it was known as Dagobah Trash Bin Beach for the simple reason that almost every inch of it was covered in trash. From small plastic wrappers to cars.
For almost 10 months now my gran has been telling me about this kid who decided to clean the beach by himself. Personally I would have given up after the first day so he must have been very determined which is why I came to the conclusion that he was some environmentalist especially after I was told that he also separated them into recyclable piles.
So here I am admiring the Dagobah Beach for the first time in my life when gran says that she invited the kid in her house in order to feed him one of her small cakes as thanks.
The doorbell rings.
I open the door.
And there is Midoriya ‘DATA’ Izuku in front of me.

When we, Hero-hopefuls, look at Hero schools for us to attend normally we don’t bother looking beyond U.A. and Shiketsu. But what a lot of us don’t go looking are other less known schools that in some cases would be a better fit. For example did you know that the Himitsu High School specializes in intelligence gathering Heroes? Or that the Sukuu High School specializes in rescue Heroes?

The Cryptid Super Villain
I have been going through All Might videos and I noticed a pattern that has been present in his entire career since his debut in America up until six years from his return to japan (Ten years ago). The videos were this pattern was noticed in are #1, #7, #29, #86, #150, #387, #598.
- A villain fight with huge amounts of destruction occurs
- AM comes out of it injured and the injuries seem to always be on the same places. Notably the head and the chest area.
- The villain(s) gets away
- The name(s) of the villain(s or the villain group) is never mentioned in fact it seems as if it is being hidden (reference interview #67) to a point where it is a mystery whether it was done by one person or multiple.
I am leaning on this being one villain rather than a group. While a group would make more sense since that is logically what someone would need to take down AM and all that is what is visible from the few fights that were recorded from far away indicate that the people who did it had strong quirks I hesitate to agree to that theory. Because this fed has (or had?) been going since AM’s debut almost 30 years ago. By this point one member of the group would have been caught and either they would have spoken about the others or the police could have traced the others through them as has happened to other groups AM has gone against. Additionally the injuries are too consistent on the pattern. The only one that went a little on the left was #29 were AM had also a broken arm.
How possible is it for a group of at least five people to always go for the same two places for hits?
But the possibility of it being one villain is a little difficult to believe as well. In theory there could be someone with a quirk powerful enough to challenge AM. In theory there could be a quirk that is versatile enough or someone creative enough that it can seem as if someone has 5 quirks. But what are the chances of someone being able to replicate having an air blast quirk, an electrocution quirk, a telekinesis quirk, a strength enhancement quirk and some type of fire quirk?
Could it be someone with a permanent copying quirk? Or a copying quirk that only needs to use hair instead of living people? Or maybe is it support equipment?

When later he finds out that despite the fact that the kid managed to score enough points (he came in fourth with more rescue points than villain points) he was turned away because the board and Nedzu were worried that the parents were going to cry out that they were either bribed, blackmailed or that they took pity on him, he was not surprised. Disappointed and furious, yes. But surprised? No. Not really.
He comforts himself with the knowledge that Midoriya was going to enter his class after the Sports Festival.
Mika watches as the hologram that will inform them of whether or not Izuku got in appears. They are in the living room and she holding in her hands her husband’s left hand.
It’s the rat. Oh well she can’t think of the rat as the rat anymore can she? She will play nice with the rat – No principal. Despite what he said to her five years ago.

“It seems the educational system of Japan not only didn’t learn its lesson from the last time I reaped its balls off but it actually dared to grow a new pair and come challenge me again. Don’t worry Zuzu. I will fix this.”

For a long time the stories of a man who can take quirks have been used on children to threaten them. “If you don’t behave the man who can take quirks will come and take yours.”
Some rumors I have come across on the web say that not only this person existed but is still around.

WHAT WE SHOULD TAKE (and never forget ) FROM THE UA DISCRIMINATION SCANDAL
- Discrimination and corruption exist everywhere even in places where it shouldn’t exist.
- Discrimination doesn’t usually look like someone shouting slurs or raising their hand on another person. Sometimes discrimination is just coming up with excuses to treat someone else differently.
- When you discriminate good intentions don’t mean shit.
- When someone asks ‘does another human deserve human rights?’ the answer is always yes. No ifs or buts or maybes or whys. YES. HUMAN RIGHTS ARE NOT UP FOR NEGOTIATION.
- Calling out discriminatory behavior is good. Standing by the victims is also good. Learning from the event and changing yourself for the better is also good. Trying to keep learning something new about how groups who face discrimination are treated and how you can change or help is also good.
- Keep an open mind and listen. And think.
- The legal system in our country is currently not good but every once in a while it actually does it job.
- Heroes are humans and they can be wrong.

DATA’s blog received an upgrade and oh people what an update it is. The layout, the organization, the tags. First thing you see are the new posts and after that the trending posts and after that the most popular posts. And on the very top you will see the categories he has separated them. Apparently the DATA TEAM also turned a lot (not all of them yet) of his most popular posts in audio and video format. Also you can change the letter format to something that is more friendly to those with reading disabilities and I don’t how effective it is but the fact that they thought to put it there when almost no one ever considers it means a lot to me. There is also a section with reading, video (movies and documentaries included), podcasts, charity and volunteer recommendations.
I will come back to this in more details later but I needed to get his out of my system.

TN: I’m obligated by law to tell you that this conversation is being recorded. I’m also obligated to tell you that my quirk is an always active Lie Detector quirk. Do you consent in this interview being recorded and done under the effects of my quirk?
MI: You have my consent to take and record this interview under the effects of your quirk.
TN: For the record please state your name, age and status on this case.
MI: Midoriya Izuku, Midoriya written with the kanji for ‘green’ and ‘valley’ while for Izuku the kanji used are the one which means ‘exit’ or ‘come out’ and the one for ‘long time’. I am fifteen years old and one of the UA students who were present during the USJ attack.
TN: Good. Will you tell me what happened from your perspective?
MI: Before I begin I have a question. One of the teachers who were present is an underground hero and I am not certain what name should I use in this situation. Is his legal name alright or should I just use his hero name?
TN: Hero name please. Thank you for asking before going ahead.
MI: Ah yeah. Not a problem, really. [Small cough] We, my classmates and EraserHead sensei, had arrived at the USJ for five minutes and Thirteen sensei’s speech about us being careful with our quirks was just coming to an end. I must admit that due to the fact that I am quirkless I was only half listening and not really paying it much attention which is the reason why I noticed the opening of the warp gate. At the time I was curious about it but not really panicking. I assumed it was part of a situational awareness exercise since those are very favored by EraserHead sensei.
Quickly I brought it to their attention and they informed us that no, this was not part of any exercise. We were being attacked. The gate was made by someone who was called Kurogiri, maybe that’s his actual named, and the leader, a young man named Shigaraki Tomura, stepped through first along with a creature he called Nomu. After them followed the rest of the villains and the portal closed.
TN: You know their names. How come?
MI: Shigaraki told me his and the creature’s and he called the warper that when he was talking to him.
TN: Can you please explain how you got close enough for them to talk to you?
MI: For the record, I am the blogger called DATA who runs the blog Research by DATA. This is relevant as to why I got close to them. You see, Shigaraki made some grand announcement over how they were going to kill All Might today and how that would destroy hero-society. That made me nervous not because I believed they could do it but because they were confident enough that they could meaning that they also had some hidden ace on them and All Might wasn’t there with us. I was also a little annoyed at the fact that he believed that All Might’s death at his hands would be enough to actually do permanent damage to hero-society.
TN: [Sound of suprise] What do you mean All Might’s death at the hands of some villain who invaded a UA facility wouldn’t do permanent damage? Wait-[cough] that question is not relevant to the investigation. Please continue.
MI: Due to my family, my very public opinions or my general existence I have been kidnapped or held hostage multiple times. My experience with this situation is that unless I have a plan of escape the best I can do is distract the leader by getting into a conversation with them in an effort to buy time not only for myself to come up with a plan but also for the police and heroes to reach me.
You would be surprised how often in these situations someone stops paying attention to their surroundings just so they could give it all to me. It happens so often a friend of mine made a handbook detailing it titled ‘How to deal with being kidnapped/ held hostage. The Midoriya Izuku method.’. Honestly knowing my family it’s going to become a family heirloom.
[Distressed sound] I am so sorry I went on and on again. Where was I? Right how I got so close to Shigaraki. After he finished his dramatic monologue my first reaction was to ask why he thought that was going to work. He looked at me, called me DATA and ordered Kurogiri to bring me to him. After that followed one of the weirdest conversations I expected to have with someone older than me and I am not saying this because Shigaraki talked in video game lingo.
TN: Weird?
MI: He seemed to be missing facts of society that someone his age should know. I am not talking about politicians or laws. I am talking about more common things someone would often come across in various forums on the internet or overhearing a conversation in public. For example, he believed society at large was happy with the current quirk laws. On the other hand he was very informed about things most people don’t know such as quirk inequality
TN: That is indeed strange. Please tell me what you and Shigaraki talked about.
MI: As I mentioned above what I was trying to do was stall him. He wanted to recruit me and I couldn’t say no so I asked him why he would want someone quirkless like me. In his opinion he believed that was more of a reason for me to follow him, what with me being one of the outcasts of the world. I decided to play dumb and I asked if he found out about me through my blog and that was another weird thing. He had no idea I had a blog.
TN: Considering how often it is brought up on the news that is indeed very strange.
MI: Shigaraki said that his Sensei told him about me and showed him my photograph. You can guess that I was worried this was going to turn into a kidnapping.
TN: This Sensei. Do you have any more information on him?
MI: Information, no. But I have a few suspicions. I would like to present them at the end of my recounting.
TN: There is no problem with that. What happened afterwards?
MI: At this point I had to outright reject him. For a moment his hand twitched as if he wanted to touch me but stopped himself. I believe he wanted to use his quirk on me and his requires contact. Whether that is at least one finger or all five of them I have no idea. Considering that he later threatened to turn Kurogiri into dust for Iida’s escape I assume it is some kind of advanced entropy or decay since a quirk that turns organic matter permanently into inorganic hasn’t been recorded yet.
He asked me why I wouldn’t join them and I proceeded to get him involved in an argument over whether a violent takeover or a peaceful demand for change was the best way to deal with things that were wrong in society. From this conversation I can tell you that Shigaraki is very, very, very sheltered. As in ‘never stepped foot in a public school or coffee shop and his parents monitored his internet experience with very extreme rules’ kind of sheltered. And the pale yellow of his skin pointed towards him not receiving enough sun. At some point of our argument Kurogiri must have left because he returned and gave a status report of their attack, Thirteen was hurt by his own quirk and heroes were on their way
TN: And then?
MI: I must have made quite the impression because he asked me if I cared about my classmate and if they shared my opinions. I told him that yes I care about them and that none of them have given me trouble for being quirkless and that a lot of them in fact had the same opinions with me. After that he called back the attack and said how he would be watching to see if I would stick to my morals, ethics and opinions and help create a more just society. Kurogiri warped them out as he was ordered by Shigaraki.
TN: It is not common but it happens that sometimes villains would look at a hero and be impressed enough by them to start respecting them. It takes a special kind of hero. The fact that you managed this with a forty minute conversation with a villain who had no idea who you are is impressive.
MI: [Small laugh] I hope that is a compliment.
TN: It is. Now could you tell us about your theories you mentioned before.
MI: I know this is going to sound absurd but please listen to me through the end. There is no certainty of this being correct and no way for me to test it. I believe Shigaraki was quirkless and this Sensei is probably the person who gave him the quirk or found a way to get him a quirk.
TN, N, YT: [Sounds and exclamations of surprise]
N: Mister Midroiya this is a very serious accusation you are making. More serious than you understand. Please explain how you came to this conclusion.
MI: Yes, sir. I need you to understand that a lot of these observations come to me both through my experience with quirk analysis and quirkless lifestyle. The feet of someone quirkless and someone quirked are more different than just a toe joint. Even before quirks there existed theories of how the human body was going to evolve based on their lifestyle which hasn’t changed all that much. If you compare the average foot of a first or even third generation quirk user with someone of today you will notice certain differences. For one the toes of today are much smaller and during the last five years it is becoming more and more common for a child to be born with only four toes. Another thing is that due to the fact there is more weight packed on our bodies either as fat or as muscle feet have gotten broader. This changes are common in quirked individual but not to those without quirks.
This means that I as a quirkless person can’t go to a store and buy a pair of shoes because there is not going to be enough space on the front for my toes and there is going to be too much space to the sides.
While I was talking to Shigaraki I noticed that he was wearing shoes from FiveStars that were identical to mine. This is the only company that makes shoes for the quirkless and they only come in deep red with a white sole. In fact it is such a trademark for them that they don’t make shoes for quirked people that are similar to those. You have to order them online and the shoes he was wearing were very new.
It doesn’t make sense for someone quirked to wear them.
Another thing that points to my theory being correct is the fact that his body was handling his quirk weirdly.
Quirk incompatibility is when the body as a whole or a certain organ/organs of the body can’t handle a quirk. Being so close to him, allowed me to notice that Shigaraki was so wriggled and so chapped on the face that it couldn’t possibly be due to some allergy. His hands on the other, the place where most of his quirk is focused, were perfectly fine. That is not how it is supposed to work. Yes, people can have sensitive skin on just a certain part of their body but that doesn’t change the fact that his hands should have been even a little bit affected. The skin is one organ. In quirk incompatibility it is either affected entirely by the person’s quirk or not at all.
Additionally, the way he treated my quirklessness was weird. People born with strong and destructive quirks treat me as if I can’t do much against them. This is not meant to be offensive to them or anything but it is just the way it is. They believe that just because I don’t have a destructive ability or any ability at all I am not a danger. Shigaraki on the other hand kept his distance from me. Close enough to touch me easily, far enough that I couldn’t. He was weary of me. As if he believed that being quirkless made me more dangerous. A reaction similar to this I have only gotten from a few of my kidnappers who themselves had weak quirks or non combative quirks. Shigaraki who can turn a person to dust with one touch shouldn’t have this reaction to me.

MI: It is something I noted on my way here to talk to you. After we stopped arguing but before Kurogiri came back he tried to tell me something but he was interrupted. I thought it was him getting desperate and starting lying but with my quirkless theory it makes more sense that he wasn’t. I am repeating this word for word. “You are incredible. I can just imagine what you would be able to do with a quirk. If you came with us, I bet Sensei would get you-“ and that is when Kurogiri came.

- Midoriya Izuku is a private person who never talks about his life unless it is already or it is going to be public. And the things he tells us about are either to help us understand his perspective on something, for example discrimination, or things that are not really personal, i.e. the cleaning of Dagobah Beach.
- Did any of you think that he can’t talk about it if the police told him to keep silent until the villains got caught?

actualy no. see the SF is important for the students of the hero course, the support course and to a certain degree the gen ed course. hero agencies view it in order to scout students from the hero course that they believe would do well in their agencies but also from gen ed because sometimes hero-promising kids pass through the cracks of the entrance exam. almost always an underground hero started in gen ed before they got moved to the hero course.
as for the support students they are allowed to bring in their own creations which is their own chance to show off to support companies.
the business students have other more closed off events during the year to show off.
considering that this thing happens once a year means that each student has only three chances to gain attention here.

You know seeing Midoriya so determined to become a hero and stand on equal grounds with quirk-powerhouses is very inspiring and something I respect a lot, especially when considering the social stigma of being quirkless. Years ago I read his post about how we shouldn’t let quirks define who we are as people and as someone with a ‘villainous’ quirk that really touched me so seeing him there in second place at the Sports Festival having lost because of luck is incredible.
I have seen the posts that made fun of him for wanting to be a hero or telling him that he couldn’t, that he had no hope to be able to stand with the rest of his classmates but look at him.
He is doing it.
