Chapter Text
"Thank you for all your contributions to this country. You were a really great hero and underground or not, you will be remembered as such. Goodbye Karma." The commissioner representative said while smiling and extending a hand over her desk.
The hero sighed. She knew age wasn't the reason for her to retire. She was 28 and was an underground hero since she was 18 and has done hero work since she was 15. She graduated UA with flying colors. She's solved at least over 300 cases each year. The excuse they used to retire her was her arm. She lost her left arm during one of her missions. It was either her arm or the civilians. Her choice was obvious. And now she has a little stump instead of an arm. She has a metal prosthetic but she is still learning how to use it. The real reason she is being forcefully retired is simple. She knew too much. 7 years in her career she was offered a chance to help the PHSC with a mission. It went well and she became their little dog. And when your a dog you sniff around and this dog found quite the few things and so she was being practically fired. They already took her costume and weapons for 'cleaning'. She knew her time was up.
Karma gives a fake smile and gets up and shakes the woman's hand.
"Go fuck yourself." Karma says as she grabs her backpack and walks to the door.
"I understand your frustration but our decision is final. Midoriyia-san please leave your hero license and Id card and Hinosa will escort you out." the woman ordered. Karma sighed and tossed her cards on the desk and swiftly left the building with a Hinosa trailing behind.
Midoriyia. She hasn't heard that name in a long time. Haruka Midoriyia. That was who she was and now is. She's no longer Karma. She's Haruka Midoriyia.
She made it to the first floor and grabbed a red lollipop off the receptionist's desk on her way out. She may have known this was happening but it didn't mean she was happy about it. It was raining outside but she kept on walking towards the train station. She liked the rain. It always calmed her down. She made it to her train and sat looking out the window. It was 1pm on a Thursday so most people are either at school or work so the train was relatively empty, and quiet. She spent the train ride looking out the window day dreaming mostly. She was a little too scared to think about what to do next. She had a decent amount of savings to last her, but she never liked sitting still she preferred to keep busy. Not to mention she promised her sister at she would be 'just fine on her own and in fact she'll help out with her bills too.' She was too embarrassed to even think about visiting her Sister or her nephew. He was so happy knowing she was a hero, last time she visited he wouldn't leave her side. She was mostly tired though. And a little bitter. She spent a good chunk of her life in this hero career and now it's over just like that. She wanted a nap or better yet a drink, or even a cigar. And she was trying to quit. She eventually makes it back to her apartment and flops on the couch and promptly passes out.
