Chapter Text

Bakugou Katsuki was not having a pleasant day. At four years old, he’d told his parents that he was a boy. And now, almost twenty years later, some transphobic fuckwit had decided that it was a good idea to put his deadname on the new copy of his hero license. In an effort not the blow something up on the spot, he’d decided that the best immediate solution to his woes was to drag his ass over to Eijirou’s with a large bottle of hard liquor in hand. The redhead knew better than to ask what was wrong until Katsuki was ready to tell him and it took until they were already halfway through said bottle before the blond began bitching about his situation, but once he started it was easy to understand his frustration.

“That’s fucked man.” The taller pro hero sympathizes, grimacing at the idea of his friend being deadnamed before taking another sip from the glass in his hand.

“I fucking know, right?!” The shorter growls, tossing back the bottle rather than refilling his empty glass this time.

They shouldn’t even have that damn name on file!

Eijirou flinches at the way Katsuki almost punches the stuffing out of one of the couch cushions immediately after, the redhead obviously wondering if it might be time to cut the blond off.

“Hey, easy there! What’d that cushion ever do to you?” He chides with a gentle laugh, the less than sober part of his brain drinking in the adorably sheepish look that Katsuki gives him in reply.

Sorry...” He mumbles shyly, cheeks flushing at the thought of his own behavior as he looks purposefully at the ground and takes a bigger swig.

“Ah, don’t worry about it man. Look, I know it bothers you, but soon enough you’ll get your license reissued again and whatever jerk put Shouko on it will definitely end up fired for being a transphobic prick.”

The change in the atmosphere after Eijirou speaks is palpable, the blond now looking at him as if he’s grown a second head. Brows creasing, the younger opens his mouth to ask what’s wrong only to be cut off before he can by Katsuki himself.

How do you know that name?” He asks, his stunned expression fixed on Eijirou as the cogs slowly turn in the taller’s inebriated brain.

Oh, FUCK!

“I-…”

How the fuck do you that name, Ei?!

In all the years that they’d known each other, Katsuki had never once told him his deadname. And like a drunken idiot, Eijirou had just let it slip without any explanation whatsoever.

I can explain-!

No! What the fuck, Ei?! Did-… Did someone tell you? Did you ask?

NO!

Then how the FUCK do you know that?!

How the HELL was he supposed to answer that? Biting his lip, a moment of silence falls between them as he finds himself unable to look Katsuki in the eye.

“I saw it written.” He answers truthfully, watching the shorter pro let out a shaky breath.

“Ok. Where?

“On my skin, Kat.” He spits sourly, the alcohol pulsing through his veins causing him to make yet another poor decision.

Where the fuck do you think?

Katsuki just stares at him in a drunken stupor, his mind desperately trying to process what Eijirou had just admitted to him.

“Wait. You mean-?” He starts to ask, only for the taller to cut him off.

Yes.

Silence stretches between them for a few moments as an understanding of the situation seems to wash over Katsuki.

“…Why didn’t you tell me?”

Eijirou bites his lip again, still trying to avoid the shorter man’s gaze.

Because I’m not yours.

Staring at the redhead, Katsuki thinks about all the times of the years that they’ve talked about soulmates and how the man before him had even helped him to get a confession from his. He’s never asked the younger about his soulmate, simply figuring that Eijirou would tell him all about it when he was ready and the information became relevant. But it must’ve hurt to tell Izuku to go chasing after him like that. And Katsuki knows the feeling of thinking that your soulmate doesn’t love you back all too well… Hell, there were times back then when the blond had been so broken up about Izuku that he’d seriously considered hitting on the redhead before! Reminded of that fact and a little less than sober, that is exactly how he somehow arrives at the conclusion that climbing into Eijirou’s lap is a good idea. The bewildered face that the taller makes is adorable, his face flushing a pretty red that matches his dyed hair. Leaning in closer than is friendly, he cups his best friend’s face and gently runs his thumbs over the other man’s jaw in a way that sends visible shivers down his spine. The redhead opens his mouth like he’s about to say something, but Katsuki cuts him off with another question.

And why’s that~?

The blond doesn’t wait for a response, swallowing any reply that might’ve been as he presses their lips together and their bodies closer. It only takes a second for the shock of the kiss to wear off and the younger man to respond, hands gripping at the older’s hips and tongue sliding into his mouth without thinking. It’s filthy, it’s desperate and Eijirou would be lying if he said he didn’t enjoy it… But it wasn’t right. Coming back to his senses a little and kind of hating himself for it, his grip on the blond’s hips tightens as he pushes Katsuki off him.

Don’t! Please don’t! Just get out.

The shorter stands in front of him, confused and panting before his eyes narrow and his face hardens.

What the HELL?

Eijirou looks away, his resolve absolutely crumbling under the blond’s crimson gaze.

“I can’t do this, man. I can’t be the guy that you cheat on Midoriya with.”

I can’t take advantage of you when you’re drunk.

Katsuki pales at the second part, his brain feeling like it’s just been dunked in cold water as he remembers that his fiancé is indeed a person that exists.

“I-… Fuck! I’ve got to go.

As he turns and leaves, Eijirou doesn’t try to stop him.

There’s no one on the train as he boards, which is not surprising since it’s a weeknight and it’s dark out. Since there’s no one around to see though, the blond doesn’t even try to hide it when he breaks down crying in the middle of the empty train car. Beginning to sober up, he feels like the biggest piece of shit in the world right now. Not only had he managed to completely fuck up his relationship with Eijirou by playing with his feelings, but he’d just cheated on Izuku like it was nothing too! Wiping his eyes on the back of his sleeve with a sniffle, he pulls out his phone and hesitantly scrolls through the contacts. He considers taking the coward’s way out for a second, maybe calling Denki or Mina instead… But he’s already fucked up enough for one night. Hitting the green call button, he waits with trepidation for Izuku to pick up. When it rings out, he can’t tell if he’s relieved or not…

“Hi, you’ve reached Midoriya Izuku! I’m busy and can’t answer right now, but if you leave a message after the tone I’ll be sure to get back to you! BEEP!

Taking a shaky breath, Katsuki replies to the answering machine.

I fucked up. Izuku, I’m so sorry! I fucked up so bad…
