Chapter Text
“We’re off campus today!” Isa sang as she entered Jamie’s dorm. Jamie looked up from where she was painting Matt’s nails, smiling brightly.
“Really?!” She gasped, capping the blue polish and grabbing the top coat. Isa nodded excitedly, sitting down on the floor at the foot of the bed. Jay entered with her, taking their seat on the chair closest to Leo. The Latino bristled in annoyance, scooching as far left in the chair as he could to get away from them.
“Where’s Dominic?” Harper asked.
“Damian.” Leo grit out. “He’s-”
“Damian’s outside, on a call with his sister.” Matt answered for them and Leo gave him a grateful look.
“Oh.” Jay shrugged nonchalantly. “So, Leo.” They grinned, moving closer to the Latino. “W-”
“No thank you.” Leo stood up, brushing his pants off casually like he was moving for a different reason. They addressed the group. “Uh, I’m gonna be right back. Jamie asked me earlier to grab some ice, I completely forgot.”
Jamie just rolled her eyes, not protesting. Whatever Leo needed, she trusted they absolutely needed an excuse to get out. So she left it alone, closing the clear polish bottle and blowing gently on Matt’s nails.
“Oh, I should come too, just in ca-” Jay began to stand but Leo held his hand out.
“Uh, no.” He denied. “I’ll just drag Damian with me when I see him outside.”
And of course, at that moment, Damian’s call with Tara ended and he entered the dorm with a smile. “Hey, wh-”
“Let’s go.” Leo demanded, grabbing his hand and beginning to pull him out of the dorm. “We’re getting ice.”
“Okay.” Damian followed behind them with no resistance, closing the door behind them and allowing Leo to collapse his body weight against Damian the second the door shut. “Are you alright?”
“No.” Leo whined. “It’s stifling being in that room with them!”
Damian rubbed their arm empathetically. “I’m sorry.”
“And they won’t leave me alone.” Leo turned around in Damian’s arms, burying his face in his chest. “I can’t tell if I feel like hitting them or throwing up.”
“I’m sorry.” Damian repeated, gently rubbing Leo’s back. “I’m sorry I keep leaving you alone with them.”
“Not your fault you can’t watch over me every second of every day.” Leo mumbled. “I need to get over it soon anyways.”
“You don’t need to ‘get over’ anything.” Damian denied softly. “Emotional abuse leaves a trauma scar. You might not ever get over it, and that’s completely okay.”
Leo kept his mouth shut.
It was much more than that.
“We’re allowed off campus today.” Damian mumbled into Leo’s hair.
“So Isa’s said.” Leo pushed his face farther into Damian’s chest, breathing in the smell of sharpie and citrus that was uniquely his. “Why do you bring it up?”
“Me and Mattie were planning on going to the Italian restaurant down the block, you wanna come?” He requested. Leo smiled, nodding a little. Damian grinned, pressing a quick kiss to the Latino’s head and then pulling away. “Perfect. You wanna go get that ice now?”
“Uh.” Leo short-circuited, blushing. “You kissed me.”
Damian blushed. “I mean… yeah.”
“I thought this was only like a fake dating thing.” Leo whined, still hiding his face.
Damian chuckled a little, and Leo shook his head feeling the sound echo through him. Their hair tousled and Damian didn’t even bother trying to lay it down, instead messing it up more by hiding his own face in the chocolate curls. “I mean! I didn’t-”
Leo giggled, pulling away and accidentally conking the back of his head against Damian’s. They hissed, rubbing their head with a pout. “This is your fault.”
“Mine?” Damian laughed incredulously, rubbing his forehead.
“Yeah, for kissing me.” Leo insisted. “You caught me off guard. I wasn’t able to control my gayness. I blame you for that.”
“You blame me for being gay for me?” Damian smirked, leaning down closer to Leo’s face. It was a question, it might’ve been, but it came out as a statement.
Leo turned red, eyes flicking down to Damian’s lips as their noses brushed together slightly. “Uh…” He licked his lips, looking back up at Damian’s eyes. “Yeah. Jerk.”
Damian smiled gently, leaning in and pressing a firm kiss to Leo’s lips. Leo shut their eyes, gripping Damian’s bicep with his left hand. When they pulled away, Leo gave him a faux annoyed look.
“You know fake means we don’t have to do this when nobody’s watching, right?” He teased.
Damian ruffled their hair, pulling them closer by their shirt to grasp his hips with a loose grip. “Well now that I have the privileges, let me enjoy it.”
“Dork.” Leo whispered, pulling himself out of Damian’s hold. He smiled, grabbing the taller’s hand. Damian looked at their hands and blushed deeply, giving Leo a small, shy smile.
Jesus. Leo thought. Él es jodidamente bonito.
“Ready to go back inside?” Damian asked. Leo nodded.
“Mhm.” He opened the door to the dorm, both boys stepping back inside.
“Oh, good, Leo!” Isa called from the sitting room. “You’re ba- oh.”
Damian and Leo walked into view of the other teens, and they all wore varying degrees of shock and confusion painted on their faces. Except Matt who gave them a simple raised eyebrows look with a small smirk.
“Have fun?” He asked.
“Wha- oh.” Leo was suddenly flustered. The “boyfriends” had just walked back into the dorm after being gone for a hearty amount of time - Damian’s shirt was wrinkled from where Leo had rubbed against it and Leo’s shirt was wrinkled from Damian running his hands down it. They were both flushed bright red, Leo’s hair was a mess, and they were still holding hands.
“No, no, no.” Damian protested, seemingly coming to the same conclusion. “It wasn’t like-”
“Yeah, no, we weren’t-” Leo cut in.
“-we were doing anything like that- ”
“-like doing anything, we-”
“-it was purely-”
“Ok.” Jamie cut them off, still looking confused. “We get it. It’s fine.”
“Yeah, we’re not here to judge your…” Harper frowned, judgment written all over their face as they scanned their definitely not friends. “ Relationship choices .” They finished in the bitchiest voice Leo had ever had the displeasure of hearing.
“Vete a la mierda, coño.” He shot back with a sarcastic smile and Isa gasped, glaring at Leo.
“¡No digas eso!” She narrowed her eyes.
“Isabela, vete a la mierda también.” Leo smiled brightly. “Anyways.” They daintily climbed onto the table in the corner of the room, sitting on his legs and folding them neatly under his form. “Maggiano’s?” They turned to Matt.
Matt nodded, Damian walking over and taking his seat next to him. “Yeah. Wednesday’s buy two meals get one free for lunch and dinner.”
