Qrow woke to the feeling of callus yet gentle fingers in his hair, a feeling he could certainly indulge in for a few moments more before opening his eyes and facing the day. The gentle warmth, the repetitive caresses, the sheer love and tenderness of the gesture itself. All of it combined for the perfect alarm in the morning. He sighed slightly, relaxing against the firm tender touch of his husband.
“Good morning.” Oz said, his voice just that much deeper and rumbly in the early morning. Qrow chuckled and unwillingly opened his eyes.
“Good morning babe. How did you sleep?” He sat up in their bed, stretching a bit and laying back on the pillows. God, he was so comfortable. He didn’t want to get out of bed.
“Good. As always, if you’re here.” Oz replied, nudging his nose under Qrow’s ear and kissing his neck.
He chuckled and wrapped his hand around the back of Oz’s head, tangling his fingers in feather soft silver locks. He gently tugged out a few knots, and scratched at the scalp, making Oz loll his head back a bit with a smile.
“Have we any plans today?” the taller necromancer mumbled, eyes closed in relaxation.
Qrow hummed and gently tugged a few knots out of his lovers hair, “No, not today.”
“Good.” Oz smiled dreamily, “Then let’s stay here the rest of the day.”
Qrow sighed, “Oh trust me, I would love to. But we do have other stuff. Like food for one.”
Oz groaned and flopped himself over Qrow, effectively pinning him to the bed. “Noooo. I’m comfyyyyyyyyy.”
Qrow chuckled and scratched Oz’s scalp, “But foooood!”
“But comfyyyyyy!”
“But food!”
“But, and I cannot stress this enough, comfy.”
“Oz you are not making this easy.”
“Good! Maybe I’ll win this time!”
Qrow was about to respond when he spotted a familiar orange glow in the door frame. Wide white eyes blinked at him and he nodded for the little ghost to join them.
Qrow grinned at his husband, “Looks like we’ve got a guest.”
Oz laughed softly and rolled off Qrow, smiling adoringly at their young specter of a son, “Hello love! Did you sleep well?”
“Yee!” Oscar replied, floating to Oz and flopping on his chest, snuggling him happily.
Oz hugged him back, kissing the top of his head, making the little revived boy giggle sweetly. Qrow watched them, a warm feeling blooming in his chest. If someone had told him fresh off the Songbird ship, that this would be his life, he would’ve laughed in their face for being so dumb. A loving husband (who happened to be his best friend), a son he adored, a job he loved, and just being happy and healthy? It had seemed so ludicrous at the time, but look at him now.
“I love you.” he said, kissing the silvernette’s cheek and nuzzling the spot he kissed with his nose.
Oz blushed and smiled at him, “I love you too Birdie.”
“I love you!” Oscar cheered, moving to snuggle between them both and kissing both of their cheeks.
The couple looked at each other, smiling as each kissed one of Oscar’s cheeks, before they both took a breath and blew double raspberries.
Oscar laughed and wiggled between them, “Nooooo! Hehehehe!”
“Yes!” Qrow replied, opening and closing his mouth, pretending to eat Oscar’s cheek.
This made the boy giggle more and Oz chuckled, “I suppose we’re all quite awake now, hm?
Oscar and Qrow shared a look and promptly dropped on the bed, eyes closed, and fake snoring. Ozpin laughed and wrapped his arms around Qrow, pulling him close and squishing Oscar between them.
“Oh no you don’t!” he giggled, peppering kisses over Qrow’s face, “If I’m awake, so are you! Live with it!”
Qrow couldn’t hold the playful facade for long and started giggling, opening his eyes and planting a kiss onto Oz’s lips. “I'm happy to live with this.”
Oz grinned and nuzzled their noses together. “Good. Cause you’re stuck with us forever.”
“Wouldn’t have it any other way.” he replied, kissing Oz sweetly.
Oscar wiggled between them and whined, “Papaaaaa! Daaaaad!”
“Sorry love!” Oz chuckled, “But you’re on the snuggle bus! And there’s no way off!”
Qrow squeezed them both a little harder, making Oscar whine, but there was a clear smile on his face. “The snuggle bus has no stops! You’re trapped here now!”
“Noooooo!” Oscar giggled, wiggling more and pushing to get them apart so he could be free.
Oz grinned and kissed Oscar’s forehead before finally letting them both go, sighing as he fell back on the bed. “I really don’t want to get out of bed.”
“I guess we can stay a bit longer.” Qrow conceded with a smile, “we’ve got no plans, and we deserve a lazy day.”
“Yes!” Oz and Oscar cheered, making Qrow laugh.
The three snuggled together on the bed, poking, teasing, and giggling the whole time. Which to Qrow, was the most perfect way to start the day.
