Chapter Text
Shouta never imagined he’d find himself visiting an omega house, least of all with his partner of ten years. He and mic had a perfect dynamic, they didn’t feel like they lacked anything as a couple, and even if Hizashi weren’t in his life the idea of getting an omega through an omega home rather than courting felt gross.
The process of claiming an omega from an omega home was similar to that of adopting a stray from the pound, and something about that had always left a bad taste in his mouth. He would be completely responsible for another humans life with just a few pages of paperwork and hardly any screening processes, like the omega wasn’t even human, like it didn’t matter the type of conditions or treatment they would receive once leaving the omega home. It wasn’t logical in his mind to make the omega endure that or to allow an alpha that level of control over someone else. Yet there he sat like a hypocrite in the omega homes waiting room...
It was necessary. He wasn’t happy about it but it was necessary.
Apparently it was perfectly fine for two alpha heroes to have wardship over a child, but they drew the line at adoption. And alpha couple would never be allowed to adopt. If they didn’t do this then one day Eri could be taken away from them and they wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. Eri needed a real family and if that meant Shouta had to compromise his morals to give that to her then there really was no choice. He was doing this for Eri.
It was comforting having Hizashi there with him; his husband had always been a social person and could always be relied on to carry an interaction. Even with his hero license he doubted the receptionist would’ve taken to him on his own. Hizashi ever the charmer was chatting away with the beta woman and even flirting a little for good measure. Shouta might have rolled his eyes or gotten annoyed if he hadn’t known his partner was only interested in men. Still the beta woman lapped up the attention and had sped the process up quite a bit as a result. He didn’t like her one bit. When she had handed them the files on several of the omegas at the service she made it very clear that she had no love for any of the omegas in her care, throwing in snide comments on occasion as she ran through the list.
“Yukio; ugly little thing that one, the only thing she’s got going for her is a good quirk. Hiro is a popular choice for our temporary visitors, I suppose by now he’d have to have pick up a few tricks, assuming of course he hasn’t been stretched out yet. Ugh Kana is such an annoying thing; came from a rich family and still hasn’t learned her place. I think we treat these omegas too well here, they’ll never learn to behave if they aren’t disciplined properly. Could all use a weak in a muzzle.”
She made it rather difficult to not want to punch her, and even Hizashi’s usually uncrackable persona was growing visibly strained by the last comment.
The general opinion Shouta had by the end was that this vile woman desperately wanted an alphas attention and was jealous and taking her aggression out on the young vulnerable omegas in her care. Disgusting and pathetic.
Still she managers to save a special amount of contempt for one boy in particular.
“Then there’s Izuku, but I don’t know why we even bother listing him with the rest of the omegas, little pest is never going to be purchased. I mean could you imagine wasting the time and money to claim a quirkless omega? I don’t know why even bothered taking him, not even a breeding house would want that useless brat. He’ll probably end up in brothel in the end, at least he’s got a decent enough face for it, certainly not the ugliest omega I’ve had to deal with. Horrible personality though, cries and shakes at the drop of a hat. I bet we’ll probably have to pay someone to take him off our hands.”
The boy in the file was young, though many omegas looked young because of their size. He probably was close to the age of his students, probably no more than a year or two younger or older than them. He was also skinny and visibly skittish even in a picture. Clearly abused, and the omega house wasn’t even bothering to hide it.
The office door opened and a round greying middle aged man walked out to greet them. He introduced himself as the director and asked if any of the omegas has caught their eye.
Shouta was a hero, and it was his job to protect vulnerable people. Shouta was a father and it was his responsibility to provide Eri with a loving nurturing and understanding mother.
It was the easiest decision he’d ever made.
* * *
Izuku used to have goals in life. He used to want to be a hero.
‘Used to’ being the key part of that sentence. Being diagnosed quirkless has been a massive blow to him, really it should’ve been seen as the start of the end. The real end would hit until he turned twelve.
After being diagnosed quirkless he lost all his friends, and his father abandoned him and his mother, and he was constantly told to give up his dreams because he would never achieve anything.
It hurt; it hurt a lot, but he got used to it. He could handle being quirkless.
In a way he was almost proud to be quirkless, because one way or another he was still going to be a hero someday; he’d be the first quirkless hero even if it meant going the underground route.
So no, despite what his mother and most people in his life thought Izuku’s life didn’t end that fateful day in the doctors office.
It ended a month after his twelfth birthday during a PE class.
He started to feel flushed and hot, and he grew dizzy very quickly. He’d asked the teacher to be excused to go to the nurse office, but had been refused. By the end of class in the change rooms he felt like he was feverish, and everything started to get hazy. There were so many strong smells and he was starting to feel nauseous. He tried stumbling towards the door but instead the was a hand grabbing his wrist. There were people talking and it was too loud, he needed to go somewhere dark and quiet, it was too bright and there was too much happening. The smells grew unbearable, and there where hands on his skin, so many hands pulling and grabbing and pinching all over. He whined and tried to pull away but the hands kept pulling him back. His shirt was being taken off. He was much cooler so it must’ve been a good thing, but for some reason he knew it wasn’t. This person shouldn’t be taking off his shirt. He was so dizzy.
Explosion rang through the haze and familiar yelling filled his ears. Familiar too hot hands where pulling at his clothes, rebuttoning his shirt. Dangerous hands felt much safer than usual, and caramel hadn’t smelt so soothing in years. Next thing he knew he was being led away to a dark room with soft blankets while he waited for his mother.
That was the end.
After his first heat ended welfare workers had arrived at his house with paperwork telling his mother that she could not raise him any longer, that due to his quirkless nature Izuku was an at risk omega and she could not be trusted to care for a disabled omega. They would be taking him to an omega house for proper care.
He and his mother had both cried, it wasn’t fair; they knew it wasn’t fair! Omega houses were optional, and even if an omegas family decided to send them to a home they were rarely admitted before they turned sixteen! Still the government took matters into there own hands and Izuku was taken away hours later. He hadn’t seen his mother since.
He wasn’t sure he wanted to.
He missed his mother so much, and desperately wanted her to take him away from this awful place, but on the other hand that would mean her seeing him and knowing what he went through. It was better she never know.
Omega homes weren’t like a school, they felt more like a cult or training camp, from the first day he arrived his entire life revolved around learning to be a good omega.
Learn to cook, learn to clean, how to act, when to speak and when to be silent, how to care for babies and children, how to dress, how to apply makeup. How to please an alpha.
Izuku was not a good omega.
He spoke to much and was never mild or docile enough.
An alpha would not take his disrespect.
He never submitted.
That would have to be beaten out of him.
More often than not Izuku found himself being punished for things he knew didn’t warrant punishment.
The collar fitted to him the first day had quickly rubbed his neck raw from being pulled, and when it was deemed he had a behaviour problem it was replaced with a shock collar. He wondered if the collar were removed would there be scarred burn marks from how often it was used?
The home rarely did anything that would leave a permanent mark, damage would affect their marketability. Not that Izuku was ever deemed marketable.
He was not a good omega.
It was a rule that the staff were not allowed to touch an omega in any sexual way, but it was a part of the curriculum that they had to learn to please an alpha. A good omega should service their alphas every need. Chastity belts were fitted to ensure the omegas would stay “pure” while being taught to please an alpha. Other omegas performed dutifully, earning bruised knees and shining reports.
Izuku refuses to submit and earns a week in isolation.
The second time the lesson was held the alpha he was partnered with tried to manhandle him and he earned more than a week in isolation.
A violent unruly omega that would bite an alpha.
According to miss Kuroko he was little more than a rabid dog, and dogs should be muzzled.
So the muzzle was fitted at all times outside of meals.
Whenever alphas came to view the omegas miss Kuroko made sure to point out all of the many black marks on his record, and why he would be an unsuitable choice.
Not that he ever had a chance anyway.
Izuku was a quirkless omega, hardly a sought after prize, and with the home mistreatment he was underweight and always covered in bruises.
A beaten muzzled quirkless omega.
It was just as well the alphas never spared him a second glance, the kind of alpha that would want him could only be worse than the home.
Which was why when miss Kuroko announced he had been selected by an alpha wanted to to cry.
