Chapter 6: FRIENDS... kind of.

Summary:

The first day, Hisoki-sensei has a Physical Exam planned for them. Chaos with the Bakugo twins and a very airheaded Emiko Midoriya is expected. Especially the principal's visit that comes after.

Chapter 1: FRIENDS

BOOM!

The ball cuts through the air and flies so far that the naked eye couldn’t spot it.

“816.5 meters.” Hisoki-sensei reads out, showing the phone screen to the class.

It’s the first day at U.A. High and the first years of Class 1A are doing a physical exam. It wouldn’t be surprising if Aizawa was teaching this class—like he had for the past 30 or so years—but he wasn’t. Instead, one of his old students took over.

“Okay, it's time for Katsu Bakugo’s turn! Yuki Todoroki and Asuka Todoroki, please make your way to the 50 meter dash!” Hisoki-sensei calls out to the class, quickly moving her fingers across her phone and clearing the timer for the next students. “Other students, please prepare for your next test!”

Her extroverted personality is the complete opposite of the introverted, I-would-like-to-stay-in-a-sleeping-bag-all-day Aizawa. But after one year of being stuck with him—and an extra two when she was doing her work study—she tended to pick up some teaching habits of his, one of them being the infamous Physical Test.

(And yes, it is capitalized because that’s how well known it was across the campus.)

A blast goes off and the girls near the fence take off, red, white, and black hair flying with Yuki as she propells herself with fire and slides across the grass with ice, crossing the finish line with a record of 3.92 seconds, while Asuka finishes with a time of 5.78 seconds.

“DIE!”

And although Katsu wasn’t exactly a Katsuki Bakugo, he was his kid, and picked up some habits.

“816.5 meters. Good job.” Hisoki-sensei congratulates before calling out the next person on the list.

Meanwhile, Katsu smirks at Katsumi and revels in the fact that she wasn’t able to pass him, and that makes him all the more happier. “Looks like you’re not number one~” He sings in her ear, words coming out painfully slow. His tone just makes it worse.

“Shut it, asshole.” Katsumi seethes before storming back off to the bench, huffing as the girl she sits next to attempts to make small talk—which turns out to be a really, really bad idea—and shortly gives up after a few failed tries of getting Katsumi to talk.

Yuki walks over to Katsu’s side and stands there as he smirks at his sister, pretentiousness radiating off him. “You should really be nicer to your sister.” She comments, watching with mild amusement as Emiko and Komai approach her from behind, also making a fair attempt to talk to his unsociable sister.

Katsu puts a hand on his hips and frowns at her. Clearly she did not know what it was like to live with Katsumi for every single day of his life. “I’d prefer not to, thank you very much.” He replies.

His girlfriend raises an eyebrow at him. He just can’t tell if it’s skepticism or annoyance—sometimes it’s honestly hard to tell. “I just think that maybe if you were nicer, you could make some friends.”

“Hah? I’m nice! And besides, who are you talking like that, my mother?” Katsu retorts back.

Yuki doesn’t falter. “Well, your mother is a delightful person.” She says before walking over to the benches.

Well, if Yuki Todoroki could socialize with people, he supposed that he could too.

Katsu walks after Yuki, knowing well that his next event wouldn’t be until everyone else finished their own events.

“Hey, Katsu-kun!” Komai waves over, smiling brightly at both of them. “You're Katsumi’s brother, right?”

“Yeah,” Katsu says brashly, which earns a not-so subtle glare from his sister. “Well, I am.”

Katsumi rolls her eyes and places her chin in her hand, turning away from all of them. “It’s not like I want to talk to you guys anyways.”

Katsu clicks his tongue. “Of course, you antisocial freak.” He says.

Katsumi and Katsu had been natural opposites since they were born—if Katsu liked ketchup, Katsumi hated it, and if Katsumi liked bananas, you bet your sweet ass that Katsu hated them. And if Katsu liked light novels, Katsumi preferred manga books--although she would never admit it.

Their social lives weren’t an exception.

“I’m not antisocial!” Katsuki retorts back, which earns herself an eyebrow. “I’m not! I’m talkin’ to these idiots right now!”

Tsuyoshi, who’s standing behind Komai, creases his brow together and glares at her. Mitsuo, who’s sitting next to Katsumi, rolls his eyes. “We’re not idiots.” He says back quietly.

“I’m Katsu Bakugo, and this is my—“

“Girlfriend, Yuki Todoroki. Call me Yuki.” Yuki quickly interrupts and holds a hand out to Komai, who reluctantly takes the hand after staring at it for a couple seconds.

“So you’re dating?” Emiko asks.

“Yep. Since preschool.” Katsumi answers for them, smirking as Katsu flushes and Yuki merely looks blankly at her, a low noise coming from her throat as she continues. “These two were simping for each other since they were 4. Sharing toys, trading snacks during lunch, sneaking out of the smart class to—”

“Yeah?” Katsu interrupts, knowing that if she managed to get going, she wouldn’t be able to stop talking, and would eventually move towards more embarrassing things—and there are things that everyone would rather keep in their history. “Well Ms. Katsumi Bakugo here snuck out of class with one of her middle school flings and was caught making out with him in the back of the field!”

Katsumi rears back her head while Komai bursts out laughing, collapsing onto the bench. “Well excuse me, Mr. Yuki-Todoroki! At least I didn’t get married in kindergarten!

Mitsuo barks out a laugh, doubling over as Emiko bites her tongue to hold back a chuckle.

“It was fake paperwork, what do you want from me?” Katsu shouts back.

It’s not even a second until Katsumi retorts back at him. “Well then how come it had Yuki’s father’s signature on it?!” Everyone turns to look at Yuki, standing there with her pale hands folded behind her back.

“My father takes everything literally,” Yuki explains monotonously, “and I was naive, so don’t take it seriously.”

“Okay, Ms. America.” Katsumi says sarcastically, making an obvious jab at her hair.

“Isn’t the—“

“Shut up!”

“Hey, hey, blonde angry girl, give me a nickname!” Emiko says happily, clasping her hands together.

Mitsuo brings his hand up to his mouth to cover the snicker that manages to come out. “I think this oughta be fun.” He says.

Tsuyoshi merely blinks. “Katsumi-san is a bit of a hothead.”

Katsumi’s eyes flare up, anger burning deep in her. “Oi, Pikachu and Pink Carebear!”

“Pikachu? I’m not yellow.” Mitsuo asks.

“I’m a Pink Carebear?” Tsuyoshi asks as well.

“Shut up, both of you!” Katsumi barks.

“Hey! Tsumi-chan, do me next!” Emiko says, raising a hand, giddy.

“Wha— Tsumi-chan?! Who’d you hear that from?” Katsumi yells back.

“From me, obviously.” Katsu says, raising his hand with a smirk.

“KATSU—“

BOOM!

And one single explosion managed to send all of them to the principal’s office on the first day.
