Chapter Text
It's already been a few weeks since Wilbur was revived and he immediately went into secret planning. At Least that's what Tommy thought after the encounter with Quackity over in Las Nevadas. He didn’t want to be a part of any more elaborate schemes if they involved Wilbur. He just wanted to feel safe and feel like he isn't being used for something. He didn’t feel as safe as he should on the smp, at least not anymore. Though there weren’t many squabbles and Dream was in prison, it just made Tommy feel either out of place or unsafe to walk on the prime path. The only place he felt somewhat safe was with Tubbo or Ranboo in Snowchester. He mostly stayed there anyway until he adopted Shroud. He moved back into his little dirt shack, which he upgraded to wood, just for the kid since he could get easier access to Puffy’s office. But when Tommy did leave to go to see Puffy, he always worried for Shroud since Tommy’s shack was normally a place where people would just come in and take things without permission or saying anything, along with the fact that Shroud was a spider hybrid and he was normally considered a hostile mob. Which had brought the idea of moving away for the sake of himself and Shroud. He knew if he did leave, he would be leaving Tubbo & Ranboo behind, his only loved ones that he could trust. So he pushed the idea away but it kept coming back during every little moment.
Shroud wanting to play in the front yard
Tommy wanting to expand his shack a bit more
More space to keep animals such as Friend
Bigger and personal farm area for himself
A private area for whenever Tubbo and Ranboo bring Michael to visit Shroud
Since Tommy’s shack was in the middle of the smp, he barely had privacy for small domestic moments with family. So after thinking long and hard about it, Tommy decided to make it official. He was gonna take Shroud and start a new life somewhere beyond the Greater Dream Smp but he hoped it wasn’t just gonna be him. He knows he's gonna be asking a lot of the two but he wanted to take Tubbo and Ranboo with him. He remembers during the times of war, he and Tubbo planned to run away and live together away from the smp but life had gotten in the way and opportunities were lost, along with many other things. So maybe this was a chance that they should take. But he knew he wasn’t just gonna be taking Tubbo, he would be taking Ranboo, Michael, and Shroud with him. The only thing Tommy needed to convince them, which wasn’t gonna be an easy task.
Tommy and Shroud showed up at the mansion door quite late in the evening. Tommy had already begun to pack a few items for a trip and Shroud was helping him so it took them quite a bit to arrive in Snowchester. When Shroud knocked open the door, there was a muffled but echoed “coming”. The door opened with Ranboo behind it.
“You two made it just in time, dinner is almost ready” greeted Ranboo, as he stepped aside to let the two in.
“That's great, I am hungry as hell” groaned Tommy, as he let Shroud run off to find Michael.
“Sorry it took us so long, me and Shroud were doing big man stuff” explained Tommy, as he walked beside Ranboo.
Ranboo nodded affirmatively as Tommy told him about his day. As they walked, Tommy took notice of the decorations in the home. There hung a L’manberg flag and a Snowchester Flag, photos and collective items from over the years, and a large family portrait of the Underscore Beloved. Tommy stopped walking for a sec to look up at it. The family trio seemed quite happy in the photo. Just the three of them. Tommy began to rethink his choice of asking the couple to run away with him since it seemed like they had life all figured out in Snowchester.
“Tommy?” Ranboo spoke, waving his hand in the blonde’s face.
Tommy snapped out of his trance and looked up at the taller boy.
“What's up, boob boi?” questioned Tommy, with a teasing tone.
The enderman hybrid groaned before responding.
“Are you coming?” Ranboo asked, gesturing to the kitchen down the hall.
“Yeah yeah, lets go boob boy” nodded Tommy as he walked ahead.
Ranboo followed suit, catching up quickly with long strides. Tommy was greeted by the sight of Tubbo setting plates on the decently sized table in the kitchen.
“Hey Big man” said Tommy, as he walked over to the goat boy and threw an arm around his shoulder.
“Yo, Boss man” greeted Tubbo, returning with a side hug.
“How have you been, my friend” chirped Tommy as he sat down in a nearby chair.
“Just been working on some outside chores this morning and cleaning the mansion with Ranboo and Michael earlier this afternoon, what about?” said Tubbo as he settled in his own chair.
Ranboo had disappeared to go get the kids from upstairs.
“Oh ya know, doing big man stuff with Shroud, looking for wives and farming” exclaimed Tommy, as he leaned back in his chair.
“Really? you weren’t with Wilbur today?” asked Tubbo.
“Nah, the bastard moved in with Phil and Techno” sighed Tommy, pulling on his sweater sleeve a bit.
“Oh, well at least he isn’t around Shroud, right?” stated Tubbo, with a nervous laugh.
“Don’t even want the fucker on the prime path” groaned Tommy, as he slowly sat up.
“He’s up to something, I can just feel it” he added, bawling his hands up.
“Maybe, but we don’t have to deal with it right now,” said Tubbo, placing a hand on Tommy’s shoulder.
Tommy nodded as he leaned against the table. He and Tubbo turned around to the doorway as Ranboo entered with the kids. Michael clung to one of the enderman hybrid’s legs while Shroud had the other.
“Help, please” whined Ranboo, gesturing to the two kids.
Tubbo and Tommy just laughed before going to help their friend from being terrorized by the hybrid children so they could eat dinner.
After dinner was over, Michael and Shroud went back to Michael's room while the trio cleaned the kitchen. As Tommy washed the dishes, his idea of running away came boggling back. He glanced over at his friends. Tubbo was wiping the table while Ranboo sweeped the floor. They seemed to be talking but Tommy had zoned out. Was it really fair for him to tell them to give up their stable life in Snowchester that they worked so hard for? Especially for Tubbo since has been with Tommy on the Smp since the very beginning. Ranboo was much newer at the time but he still witnessed and was a part of the struggles for a while. Maybe he should just let the two stay for their sake. Hell, they have an adopted son and are platonically married. Doesn’t matter that it was for tax purposes, they have happy lives in Snowchester and they shouldn’t have to leave that all behind just for him.
“Tommy?” called someone, snapping Tommy out of his thoughts.
It had been Ranboo, who now was standing beside him, talking to him.
“What’s up, boss man?” asked Tommy, turning the sink and placing the last dish to the side.
“You alright, you spaced out for a while” said Ranboo, turning his head in concern.
“Yeah I'm fine, just tired from all the big man work I did today” smirked Tommy, crossing his arms.
“Well I guess you could head upstairs since you & Shroud can’t really walk back to your house” explained Ranboo, putting his hands into his work pants.
“I guess, see ya in the morning then boob boy” called Tommy, as he exited the kitchen.
He could hear his friend sigh as he also left the kitchen. It seemed Tubbo had already left and gone somewhere. Probably to put Michael and Shroud to bed. Tommy looked at the clock hanging at the end of the hall. It was way past the time he would normally go to bed. He opened his door into his own custom room in the mansion. It didn’t have much besides a basic set up. The only way it was noticeable known as his room was that there was a basket of finished and unfinished sweaters and stray claw marks on the bed & wall. Tommy went over to the closet and switched into a simple sleepwear before laying down.
He didn’t go to sleep immediately, he just thought. He completely gave up on the idea of Tubbo and Ranboo leaving with him. His final decision was to just pack some things, get a horse, and leave with Shroud like a ship in the night. He turned over to look out the window.
The only thing he would miss was his friends but it was for the better.
For Them.
For Him.
Besides, they found their proper home in Snowchester.
Wilbur had just been revived and he quickly found himself a home with Phil & Techno.
Last time Tommy heard of Fundy was he was living out somewhere with his pets.
Quackity had Las Nevadas.
Jack took over his hotel.
George and Sapnap had some kingdom somewhere.
Everyone had some place to call their own but he didn’t.
All he had was some forgotten shack with a small wheat field, even if you can call it that. He used to be able to call it home. Then it was an embassy for L’manburg. Then it was a shelter for after his resurrection. He thought upgrading the dirt to wood would make it feel home again but it didn’t have that spark anymore. And when a certain spider hybrid child entered his life, his desire to find his place in the world grew stronger.
Tommy began to drift off into a dreamless sleep.
