Work Text:
On a mountain of flowering fruits, there lies a rock. A rock that, though it may seem so, is not a normal rock. This rock is an egg; an egg created by two powerful beings. The Hero and The Warrior.
These two beings loved and cared for their rock egg; unable to contain their excitement for when it will hatch. They made a nest for the egg, and treated it like the prince it would soon be. They promised that, together, they will raise the soon to be prince, and give him all the protection and love they can.
But one day The Hero is called away. “A great opportunity,” he says, “for us, and for our soon to be prince. I will return soon, I promise.”
But, things do not go as planned for The Hero, and he ends up trapped under a mountain.
The Warrior, now left alone with the rock egg, tries to search for The Hero. Tries desperately to bring The Hero back home, back to their egg. But he cannot search for long, for the time for the egg to hatch into a prince is soon approaching.
The day that the rock egg hatches, The Warrior is there, but The Hero is not. Wishing for his beloved, The Warrior names the little prince after The Hero. He gives him the name MK.
One day, not long after the prince has hatched, The Warrior hears a rumor that The Hero has been freed. Though he desperately wishes to go searching for him, The Warrior cannot leave the prince alone. So he waits, knowing that if The Hero were free, he would return home soon.
So The Warrior waited, and waited. And then one day, The Hero returned home.
The Warrior was ecstatic that his beloved returned, although The Hero was looking a bit peeved. But that soon changed when he finally met the prince. And even though he was sad that he missed his hatching, he loved his son as soon as he laid eyes on him.
Together, at last, the small family was happy.
…
But it wouldn't last for long.
The Hero was once again called away. The Warrior begged him not to go, but The Hero said, “I have a duty to fulfill. I promise that once I am done, I will return.” The Warrior wanted to believe him, but the last time The Hero left, he didn’t return for over 500 years.
Begrudgingly, The Warrior let The Hero leave. As The Warrior continued to care for the little prince, frustration began to fester in his chest.
How could he just leave like that, The Warrior thought, We’re a team, a family. He promised that together, we would raise our little prince.
The frustration that The Warrior felt, soon turned to anger and hatred.
If something is stopping my beloved from coming home, then I will destroy anything that stands in the way of our family being together!
The Warrior set out on a mission to bring his beloved back home, leaving the little prince in the care of trusted advisors.
This time, The Warrior thought, as he left the mountain for the first time since the prince had hatched from his rock egg, I will not fail in bringing him back.
___
The little prince, young as he may be, knew that something was wrong.
For the longest time, it had been him and his Papa, and it had been good. His Papa cared for him and loved him. He had told the prince stories about his Dad. A powerful Hero that cared for and protected his subjects. For the longest time, the prince wished that he could meet The Hero. And then one day, The Hero, his Dad, returned to the mountain.
The prince was ecstatic. His family was whole, and things that were good before, were then great.
But the happiness of their small family didn’t last for long.
His Dad had to leave again. He said that he had a duty to fulfill, and he promised that he would be back soon. The prince was sad that his Dad had to leave; he had just met him and didn’t have much time to spend with him.
The prince had clung to his Papa, happy that at least he was still there for him. But his Papa was growing more and more upset with each day that passed. One day, his Papa handed the prince over to one of the other monkeys that lived on the mountain. The prince cried out, not wanting his Papa to leave too. His Papa said that he was going to bring back his Dad, and that their family would be whole again soon.
His Papa left, and the prince waited for him to return; for his Dad to return.
He waited.
And waited.
…And Waited.
The little prince had waited for a long time, and neither his Papa or his Dad had returned.
The prince wandered out into the forests of Flower Fruit Mountain, feeling alone and abandoned. He cried and cried; wishing for his dads to return, wishing for his family to be together again.
His cries attracted the attention of a passing demon. And MK, the son of The Hero and The Warrior, The Prince of Flower Fruit Mountain, vanished from the mountain.
