Chapter Text
The crowd didn’t part for Dannah as she attempted to squeeze through the long twisted lines of the London Eye Ferris wheel. Just a second ago she was with her family on a capsule but after getting off the wheel, the bustling crowd made her lose sight of them.
She wandered around looking wherever she could and in a panic tried to call her sister. Just as she raised her fancy touch screen flip phone to her ear, the crowd bumped her hard and knocked the phone out of her hands. She hurried after the phone, watching it tumble across the cement road. “It should be fine, I can still save it,” she tried to convince herself. Sure enough, the phone was only scratched but as she reached to pick it up from the ground, it got crushed under a man’s rubber boots. The man didn’t even notice or bat an eye. But now Dannah knows she’s doomed, the phone screen was shattered.
She quickly picked it up frantically trying to piece it back together and pressing any buttons in the hope of seeing it light up again. It was no use. She can feel tears welling up in her eyes as she realizes this was the last way to get in touch with her family in a foreign place since their phone numbers only existed on the phone, and not in her memory. She doesn’t want to be stared at and wiped her eyes roughly with her sleeves. Now she is on her family vacation alone, separated from her family, lost, and basically stranded in south London.
At the same time, on the other side of the Thames River, a group of high school boys were making their way out of Somerset House palace. They are seemingly on their graduation trip; within the group was a boy with gray hair, a tall guy with curtain-like hair, a rough-looking guy with a cut on his face, and a tanned boy with brown hair.
“Gerard, you’ve gotten enough photos, it's just an old summer house. Why are you taking so long? And where is Gray?” asked Alex Go with a slight annoyance.
“Ah sorry, it’s my first time going out of Korea so I want a lot of photos,” explained Gerard, “Also I think Gray went to check out this history presentation on the summer house with his notepad and everything. Big Ben, did he tell you how long he’ll be gone?”
The one with the brown hair and warm smile answered, “He didn’t say anything and just disappeared. I'm kinda worried about him, even though he can fluently speak English he’s still kinda socially awkward. I think I’m gonna go find him.”
To cut down on the expenses of the trip, the group only travelled with one working SIM card and it was on Gray’s phone… So, before Gerard and Gogo could make any more comments, Big Ben had already run off inside the exhibit again hoping to find Gray.
He pushed through the people but couldn’t seem to find his gray-haired friend, he struggled to move around within the ocean of people and somehow ended up being carried to the other side of the exhibit. But there was still no sight of Gray. Big Ben finally decided to give up and planned to return outside when he noticed that the maze-like palace and its repeating corridors were confusing him, and when he stepped outside again, he was on a completely different side of the palace.
At first, he hadn’t noticed this and went around outside to find the rest of his friends, but when he stepped onto the bustling road beside the building, he realized that he was completely alone with no idea where anyone or anything was. And he decided to set off on the mission to borrow a phone and find his friends. However, Big Ben was never the type of student who studied English diligently in Korea and only knew basic words. Maybe it was his lack of confidence but he soon discovered his inability to ask a stranger for their phone. So he continued on the road walking aimlessly hoping to find help from someone.
