Chapter Text

We teleport to Mr. Popo and bring the boys to safety there.
After that, Piccolo and I decide to fly instead of teleporting. No rush. We use the time to calm down.
Too much has happened.
We are both exhausted, emotionally shaken—and yet there is this quiet joy. Hope. A shared future.
I float relaxed on my back, my arms folded behind my head. Piccolo chuckles softly and flies above me. Eventually we drift closer and kiss.
“So… is this official now?” he asks with a crooked smile.
“You kissed me in front of everyone,” I reply.
I stop, turn us around until I’m floating in his lap. We hold on to each other.
I kiss him again, pouring all my feelings into that moment.
He returns the kiss without hesitation.
Suddenly, a familiar sensation rushes through us.
An energy I haven’t felt in years.
I look at Piccolo.
“Is it him…?”
Piccolo nods.
Yes.
Mirai Trunks is back.
We separate instantly and shoot off toward Capsule Corp.
Meanwhile, with the others
The cube lands. Whis, Beerus, and the remaining fighters step out—many still in shock.
Beerus is already tired again, completely unaware of what would have happened if Whis had not turned back time.
The group is celebrated. Universe 7 has won.
But the shock runs deep. Especially the final minutes inside the cube weigh heavily on everyone.
Only Android 17 seems to find the whole thing amusing.
Bulma suddenly asks,
“Where is Vegeta?”
Helplessness. Glances dart back and forth.
Who is supposed to tell her what happened between Vegeta and Piccolo?
Son Goku steps forward—then freezes.
“Do you feel that?”
He smiles. “That energy…”
“That’s Mirai Trunks!” Gohan calls out, surprised—and genuinely happy.
Bulma is confused, but also relieved. Shortly after, Mirai Trunks actually appears.
He looks around, slightly bewildered by how many people are there.
“Was I expected?”
Gohan immediately walks up to him and hugs him.
“Mirai… it’s good to see you.”
Trunks seems shy.
“Wow… Gohan. You’ve really grown up.”
His gaze lingers a moment too long.
Videl notices immediately.
“Who is that, Gohan?”
A bit embarrassed, Gohan introduces the two to each other.
When Trunks learns that Videl is Gohan’s wife, he only smiles faintly and swallows.
Then he asks,
“Bulma… where’s Dad? I need to talk to him.”
Bulma hesitates.
“Bulma… what about Mom?”
Mirai Trunks stiffens briefly.
“My mother is dead. And you, Bulma, are not my biological mother.”
Bulma is shocked—and hurt by his words.
Suddenly, a cry comes from Bra’s stroller. Bulma picks the baby up.
Mirai Trunks stares at her.
“Who’s that?”
“Your sister.”
“What?!”
Before he can say more, he asks again,
“Where’s Dad?”
Silence.
Bulma turns to Whis.
“Where is my husband, Whis?”
Everyone subtly steps back.
Whis sighs.
“Vegeta… teleported away.”
“Teleported?!” Bulma explodes. “Since when can he do that?!”
Beerus loses patience with her, threatening to destroy the planet if she doesn’t calm down.
Then Whis and Beerus disappear.
Relief.
But only for a moment.
Because suddenly, Vegeta and Piccolo appear.
The confrontation
I land in the garden.
Bulma runs toward me—I stop her with one hand.
“Leave me alone, woman. I’m not here because of you.”
“Can’t you even be happy to see me and your children for once?!”
I growl—then I hear a voice.
“Father…?”
I turn around.
Mirai Trunks is standing there. Older—but not as much as he should be.
I walk toward him, bend down, and pull him into my arms.
Piccolo lands behind me. I can feel his nervousness.
Trunks practically glows with surprise.
I grab his upper arms, pull him back slightly, study him—then smile.
“You look good, Mirai. How have you been?”
“Father, I’ve actually been doing well,” he says. “I found out a few things.”
Then Bra screams.
Trunks stiffens.
“Father… what happened here? I thought you—”
I lower my gaze.
“Later. First tell me why you’re here.”
“I wanted to visit you—and test something. Mom said back then that I could come here on vacation.”
“Of course you can,” I say calmly. “It’s good to see you. What did you want to test?”
Trunks freezes briefly, then nods.
“Yes… Dad.”
He hesitates.
“You and Bulma… are you still together here?”
“Tch. Never,” I answer sharply. “I’ve never had any interest in her.”
Bulma shouts angrily.
But Trunks looks relieved—and glances hopefully at Piccolo.
Now I understand.
“So I was right back then,” I murmur.
Bulma starts to scream again—but Trunks cuts her off.
“Shut up, Bulma!”
Silence.
Trunks walks over to Piccolo and throws himself against his chest.
Piccolo holds him.
“I’m sorry,” Trunks says quietly.
You don’t need to apologize, Piccolo replies telepathically.
The whole truth comes out
Mirai Trunks tests his younger self with a device.
It beeps and shows the result:
48% Saiyan
4% Human
48% Namekian
I stare at the display.
Piccolo does too.
Piccolo takes the device and teleports to Bra. Another beep.
The same result.
Angrily, I hand the device to Bulma.
“Explain this to me, woman! How can you still look at yourself in the mirror?”
Bulma claims it’s defective.
I laugh.
“No. Now everything makes sense.”
I pull Piccolo to me and kiss him in front of everyone.
He kisses me back.
Bulma screams in outrage. My tail knocks her to the ground—it doesn’t like her either.
I look at her with pure contempt.
“Now you’re exactly where you belong,” I say coldly.
Goku speaks up, confused, addressing Bulma.
“But Bulma… Vegeta’s had that tail for a long time. I already saw it at Gohan’s wedding.”
Bulma turns pale, at a loss for words.
“I only did it so he would stay,” she says desperately.
“I just wanted him to stay—with me and our children.”
Piccolo and I are about to leave—when our children suddenly teleport to us.
Dende has decided: it’s time for everyone to meet.
And so everything comes together.
And they lived—not perfectly, but honestly—
happy and in peace.
Epilogue
Unnoticed at the edge of the celebration, Gohan sits quietly.
His gaze wanders between Vegeta, Piccolo, and Trunks.
And once again, as he has so many times before, he asks himself:
What would have been…
if back then he had done what he truly wanted—
instead of listening to his mother?
