Work Text:
"Your arrangement is a mess." Kanata doesn't need to be told that for nth times but Itsuki is right. He is suck at this. He has no idea why Tsubaki--the owner of the flower shop where he works--hired him. Being a florist isn't his thing yet he will do anything to get money.
By anything, including shady job. Unfortunately, Nayuta finds out and he seems unhappy about it. Thus, he recommends Kanata take the part-timer job at Naoakira's Flower Shop, owned by the wife of his boyfriend's adoptive mom. Kanata agrees. "I tried," he replies, trying his best not to snap at Itsuki.
The flowers arrangement isn't that bad but compared to Itsuki's skill and perfectionist personality, it does look like a mess. "You don't. Try again. I'm going to deliver bouquets." Kanata flinches, his mouth is ready to spit words, "you can't leave me alone! Who will take the order?"
"Tsubaki-san will come until that stay here and do what you have to do. Don't do anything stupid." Kanata swears he will break Itsuki's glasses someday. As much as he doesn't like being ordered around, he does what Itsuki told. Not because he listens to him. It's for Nayuta's sake, he tells himself.
An hour has passed. There's no hint that Tsubaki will come. It makes Kanata a little bit anxious because what if a customer comes and asks for difficult order? He barely remembers the flowers' names. The doorbell is ringing, a new customer has arrived. Kanata doesn't know why his heart beats so fast. "Wait a sec!" he shouts, walking a little bit faster to the counter. "How can I help you?"
Allen seems surprised when he sees Kanata is the one who serves him. He opens his mouth, then closes it, repeatedly. It looks like he can't find the exact words to say and that makes Kanata almost lose his mind.
"Can you talk?!" Perhaps because he is anxious as well, therefore, he is unable to control himself. If this customer fills a complaint to boss, his job will be at stake. Kanata can't ruin this. He can't upset Nayuta more than this.
"Yes!" Allen is alerted by the sudden shout. Instead of being mad, he shows an apologetic expression. "I'm sorry... I need a bouquet of flowers."
Fear engulfs, Kanata prays to whatever Gods out there for Allen doesn't ask for a customized bouquet. He hopes he will just order what's available at the shop.
"What type of flowers? And for what occasion?" he tries to ask him as calmly as he can. Once again, Allen becomes quiet. He stares at Kanata for seconds, making the younger feel uneasy.
"...what kind of flower do you like?" It's such a dumb question, Allen thinks. He is afraid if he makes it too obvious, yet on the other hand, Kanata thinks God hears his prayer.
"I like a red rose." Lies. He doesn't like it at all. It just happened there's a red rose bouquet left, ready to be sold.
Allen, who doesn't feel suspicious at all, nods. "I'll buy a bouquet of red roses." Kanata wants to scream, even though he isn't competing with anyone he feels like he just achieved a big victory.
"Okay, wait a moment."
It takes a few minutes until Kanata come back with a bouquet of red rose in his hands. He has to pretend like he just arranged it to convey Allen he does the work.
He mentions the price, doesn't even bother to ask if Allen wants anything else. Kanata wants it to be done quickly.
"Thank you for visiting."
"Mm, thank you too." Allen hasn't left yet. Kanata raises his eyebrow.
Ten seconds later, Allen is already on his knees. "I, I LIKE YOU. Will you go out with me?"
What the fuck is going on. Allen's plan is to confess to the new florist at his professor's wife's flower shop. He always watching Kanata but doesn't have a chance to talk. Every time he comes, it's either Tsubaki or Itsuki taking the orders.
He doesn't expect Kanata will be the one who serves him on his visit today.
"Gh..."
"G...?"
"GET OUT!!!"
Fuck it. Kanata doesn't care if Allen reports him to Tsubaki. He has the right to kick troublesome customers and since Allen is the one right now, he will use it against him. He doesn't know if he is mad or embarrassed, one thing for sure, his face as red as the rose bouquet given to him.
