Work Text:
I.
Emma knew that moving from a big city to a small town in the middle of nowhere was bound to have its downsides, but she had been lucky enough to either ignore them or work around them.
Until today.
She knew Storybrooke was small, and for some strange and unknown reason, somehow stuck in a time where fast food chains didn’t exist.
Emma could survive eating from Granny’s everyday, it was much healthier and less expensive than the diet she had back in Boston, but every now and then the craving for a greasy burger was just too much, and the fact that the godforsaken town didn’t have a single McDonald’s around… Well, it seemed unbelievable.
What the hell did the kids in town eat when they got a spare couple of dollars from their allowance? What did the poor overstressed mothers feed them when it was a weekend and they didn’t have the will to cook? What did the guys working 9 to 5 eat for their fifteen minute break in between meetings?
The town not having a single mall was bad enough as it was, but not a single McDonald’s in sight?
That was just insane.
As she closed the door to her bug, probably slamming it harder than the poor thing could endure, she thought absentmindedly if it would be too much trouble to leave town for the weekend just to suffice her childish craving—maybe she could take Henry with her to Boston, spend a day showing him everything that he most likely had been missing.
“Ah,” the softness of a well known voice stopped her train of thought, not only for the way it crawled from her chest to her lower belly, but for the knowledge that she couldn’t simply take Henry away.
He was Emma’s kid… Sure.
“Sheriff Swan, lovely to see you back where you’re supposed to be.”
But he was also Regina’s kid.
More Regina’s than hers… By law, anyway.
“I was on my break.” She excused herself, defensive as she hung her jacket on the back of a chair. “Every employee has one, you know. I can’t be here all-day everyday.”
“I’m well aware, Miss Swan.” Regina rolled her eyes. “But two hours? I think that’s more than necessary.” At Emma’s surprised stare, Regina simply chuckled. “You forget, Miss Swan. I have eyes everywhere.”
“Yeah, I’m not sure that’s legal.”
“Making sure everything’s okay in my town is illegal, now?” Regina quirked an eyebrow, walking slowly towards Emma, a smirk curling up her perfectly painted red lips.
“Keeping track of people while they’re enjoying their free time is illegal. Whatever you do with your town is none of my concern, Madam Mayor.”
That seemed to do the trick, and to Emma’s absolute joy, Regina wiped her slight smile off her face, a frown replacing it just as soon as the annoying expression had appeared.
“That’s where you’re wrong, Miss Swan,” and the way she spat out her name, as if the mere taste of having it in her mouth disgusted her, made Emma’s stomach churn in anger. “You’re the sheriff, after all. A position for which you fought for, must I remind you. The least I’d expect from you is to act as if you cared.”
Emma clenched her jaw.
She could never win, not with Regina, and the more she found herself in scenarios where the infuriating woman emerged victorious, the more her patience (which was already scarce as it was) dissolved into what Emma could only consider dangerous territory.
“What are you doing here, Madam Mayor?” She decided to switch focus, because she knew better…
It had cost her a split eyebrow and bruised ribs, but she knew she simply couldn’t throw Regina against the nearest wall in the station without having any consequences.
(Because even if Emma did it, she had the slight suspicion that she would be the one cleaning it up).
Regina looked at her.
Her eyes burning into Emma’s for tortuous seconds where the air around them seemed to turn heavy with the tension, and then, like a knife cutting through it, Regina threw something onto the nearest desk for Emma to see.
“A chocolate bar?” Emma quirked an eyebrow.
“Henry had it in his backpack.”
“Okay…?”
Regina huffed. “My son doesn’t eat candy.”
Emma chuckled.
Regina’s expression hardened.
“You’re here to… What, exactly?” Emma grabbed the chocolate bar from the desk, inspected it for a moment, then returned her attention to Regina, who had crossed her arms over her chest, the same sour grimace on her face. “Ask me to examine it so I can determine who gave it to him and arrest them?”
“I do not appreciate sarcasm in the workplace, Sheriff.”
“And I do not appreciate you wasting my time with this!” Emma threw the candy bar towards the desk again. Her stomach gurgling loudly around the empty station.
Shit, she really should’ve picked something up before getting back.
“He’s a kid , Regina. You cannot forbid him to eat chocolate.”
“I do not forbid him to eat it,” she interrupted, raising her voice as she usually did when Emma started to make more sense than her (or so Emma liked to believe). “He can eat it in moderate quantities, and under supervision.”
“Jesus fucking Christ,” Emma muttered under her breath and Regina’s offended gasp did nothing to alleviate the building anger that Emma had put behind herself just minutes ago. “You make it sound like the kid’s got a serious problem. I’ve known him for a month and a half now and I don’t think I’ve ever seen him eat a single candy. At his age I had cavities on top of my own cavities.”
Regina scrunched up her face in miff.
“Of course you did.”
Emma’s stomach gurgled again.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
“Oh, you know what it’s supposed to mean, Miss Swan.” Emma clenched her teeth together. “It means that you keep proving the point of who knows what’s best for Henry and his well being.”
“It’s a fucking chocolate bar!” Emma snapped, slamming her fist against the desk and barely noticing Regina’s high pitched ‘oh!’ at her sudden outburst. “That proves nothing at all but the fact that you’re a psychotic bi—”
“You better not say what I think you’re about to say, Miss Swan.” Regina interjected. One of her fingers raised as if she were a teacher scolding a badly behaved child.
Fuck.
Emma couldn’t stand her.
Her shrill voice, her annoying smirk, her holier than thou attitude… Her tight fitted skirt that was probably too short to be business appropriate.
“Or what?” Emma took a step closer. “You’ll fire me?”
“I can do whatever I want, Miss Swan.” Regina’s jaw tightened. “I own your department, which means I own you.”
“Oh, you wish.”
Emma took another step towards her and straightened her shoulders to allow herself the joy of being taller than Regina, even when the Mayor was wearing her ridiculous heels.
They were close—not as close as they had been in past occasions, but enough for Emma to get a hint of Regina’s perfume, just enough to see the faint blush spreading across her cheeks…
Enough for Emma to notice the way her lips parted to inhale silently, as if she was bracing herself for Emma to get closer or push her away, and God, did it drive Emma absolutely wild to know that either option could be viable with just how much Regina’s presence made her feel on edge in the best and worst of ways.
“I don’t know what you want me to do, Regina.” She said then, low and hushed, as if she was whispering a secret.
Regina’s eyes traced down the bridge of her nose and to her lips where she stayed for a second before her usual resolve returned her to her senses, making her step away and clutch her ridiculously expensive purse.
“Your job, Sheriff. I want you to do your job.”
She pushed past Emma, her bag knocking into Emma’s shoulder, forcing her to step away to leave Regina enough room to walk through, though Emma knew it was nothing but a poor excuse to invade her personal space and rattle her once again.
The echo of Regina’s heels resonated through the station even minutes after she was gone and Emma was left standing there, looking at the ground where the Mayor had been with a sense of confusion, frustration and annoyance all mixed together in the pit of her stomach.
Also hunger.
She was starving.
Emma looked at the chocolate bar on the desk and sighed defeatedly. She unwrapped it haphazardly and bit it before walking towards her poor excuse of an office to wait for the rest of her shift to be over, hoping that Regina would leave her be for the rest of the day.
Though, Emma knew even if she wished for it with all of her might, she wouldn’t be so lucky.
II.
Town Hall Meetings were the worst.
For a town as quiet and small as it was, Storybrooke sure had tons of issues to be fixed.
Every week a new problem arose and every fucking week, Emma had to be there to listen and pretend she cared about whatever new complication afflicted the citizens of Storybrooke.
This week, however, things seemed to be much worse, because for whatever reason Gold wasn’t there and Regina was late, which made Emma the next in line to take care of business and shit —maybe she should’ve paid more attention to last week’s meeting because apparently whatever was bothering the people on Roslyn’s Street had been discussed prior to this week’s meeting and Emma had no fucking idea what it was. Judging by the looks of exasperation that everyone was throwing her way, they weren’t about to budge and let her know exactly what had everyone in such a terrible mood.
“When is the Mayor arriving?” One of the old ladies in the front row asked for the fifth time in the span of two minutes and Emma had to bite her tongue to stop herself from answering with a bitter remark.
“Soon, I’m sure.”
“But when?” Another person groaned. This time a younger woman that Emma had seen around before, perhaps at Henry’s school? “We only get an hour a week and I think I speak for all of us here when I say we want to get this solved before the meeting is over.”
“Any minute now…” Emma smiled through gritted teeth. “I fucking hope,” she whispered under her breath and found that it hadn’t been as subtle as she had intended when another one of the attendings audibly scoffed.
Then, like a miracle, the doors swung open and the clack clack clack of Regina’s shoes made everyone settle a little bit more comfortably into their chairs, Emma included.
“I’m sorry I’m late,” Regina said as she strutted past the rows of chairs, as if the hallway leading to the main table were a runway.
Emma was sure Regina had a good excuse to be late, but maybe it was seeing how everyone beamed when they saw her arrive, like Emma was nothing but a seat filler (which, granted, she had done nothing to help but she had tried , and wasn’t that better than nothing?) or the way Regina didn’t even bother to hide her annoyance at having her there instead of greeting her like a decent human being, or the way the black dress she was wearing clung to her hips in a sinful way.
Whatever it was, Emma couldn’t help but feel downright furious…
Which was why she stood up as soon as Regina was in her close proximity and grabbed the woman by the elbow, ignoring the way Regina gasped as if offended by the gesture, and after excusing them both, she dragged her outside of the room.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” Regina demanded in a hushed tone, clearly not wanting to disturb the people that, by Emma’s recklessness, were now waiting once again.
“You didn’t think to call? To send a text?”
Regina frowned, confused and offended all the same.
“What?”
“To let me know you were running late?”
“Sheriff, I don’t owe you any explanations.”
Emma’s eyes flashed red.
Oh, she was un- fucking -believable.
“I think you do!”
“Please, lower your voice.”
“Like hell I’m gonna!”
It was Regina’s turn to grab her then, and the combination of the strong grip on her arm, along with the warmth of Regina’s body collapsing against her was strong enough to quickly shut Emma up.
“You might not know how to be professional since you were raised in a barn, but Town Hall meetings are considered work-related, for the both of us, so I would appreciate it if you behaved like an adult and didn’t make a scene.”
Emma growled.
“Really? You’re lecturing me on how to behave professionally when you didn’t even have the decency of letting your beloved citizens know that you were going to be late?”
Regina’s grip on her arm tensed.
“I was ten minutes late, Miss Swan. I would’ve expected you to manage the situation until I got here, which I can see you clearly didn’t do. Was it too hard to control fifteen people for ten minutes?”
“Don’t try turning this on me, Regina.” Emma snapped, rolling her shoulder to force Regina’s grip to loosen just enough for Emma to distance them. “You could’ve called.”
Regina chuckled, far too amused for Emma’s liking. “You make it sound like we’re married and I was late for our anniversary dinner.”
“Fuck you. I’m being serious.”
“As am I, you’re blowing this out of proportion and wasting valuable time that I could be using to deal with the problem that you didn’t know how to solve.”
Fuck.
Fuck!
Emma hated her.
She hated her with a burning passion.
“Do you always have to have the last word?” Emma groaned, stepping away further to pace in an attempt to calm herself.
“I don’t have to,” Regina shook her head, her hair falling perfectly in place as she combed it with her fingers. “I just do.”
Emma glared at her.
Maybe if she willed it hard enough, Regina would burst into flames.
“If you’ll excuse me, sheriff.”
Regina turned around, started to walk towards the closed door that would bring her back to the meeting, which had already been delayed longer than necessary, and Emma tried—by the God she didn’t believe in—she tried not to let her eyes drop to Regina’s figure as it strutted away but she couldn’t help herself. Before she knew it, her eyes were glued to the movement of Regina’s hips, dropping lower and lower and making her throat ache with just how dry it had gotten.
Her ass looked amazing.
Shit, fuck, shit, fuck!
“Why were you late?” She blurted out, and thankfully had the decorum to raise her gaze when Regina turned around to look at her with a quirked eyebrow.
“Personal matter.”
Emma’s voice sounded rough. “Henry?”
“No, he’s at school, everything’s fine.”
The silence that followed was almost eerie, especially considering that behind the wooden door, fifteen very distressed people were still waiting for them, or at least for Regina.
Emma knew it was a terrible idea before it even left her lips, but she couldn’t stop the words from forming in her mouth like a calculated yet poorly executed move, couldn’t stop the venom that stung her tongue as she allowed them to resonate through the linoleum floors and tall ceilings.
“Booty call?”
They weren’t friends —Christ, they weren’t even civil .
Regina could pulverize her for this… For acting as though they were close enough to ask about something as personal and private as Regina’s sex life.
Emma had always known she was stupid, but… This much?
At eight in the morning?
It was a new record for her.
She waited for anything, the strike of a palm, the ghastly pain of a punch to the gut, the malicious words intended to cut through her skin and leave her aching until time faded them away, but nothing came.
No slap, no punch, no verbal abuse.
Nothing.
Regina just looked at her, same stoic and calculating expression as she had before Emma’s sentence reverberated through Town Hall.
“No.” Regina answered.
Cool, calm, not a single infliction in her voice that could betray whether or not she had been shocked or upset by the sheriff’s query.
That made Emma feel way more unnerved.
And then, just as quickly as the tranquility of her actions had surrounded Emma, Regina’s eyes sparkled with mirth and a deep darkness that made her gaze even more alluring than it normally was.
Emma observed as the Mayor licked her lips, wetting the plum color she was sporting and effectively drawing her attention in, in a positively embarrassing way for someone who claimed to despise the older woman.
“I was masturbating.”
The words rang around Emma’s head and her mind worked quickly to try and deflect any sort of inappropriate images that could cloud her only functioning brain cell, because she was not going to give Regina the sick pleasure of reducing her to a mumbling incoherent twenty-something year old at the thought of…
Regina in bed.
Naked.
Sweating.
Her fingers rubbing against hot, slick…
“Close your mouth, dear.”
Emma did as she was told so fast, her teeth made an ugly hollow sound that was drowned only by the lustful chuckle that Regina threw her way.
“Well, then?” Emma swallowed thickly as Regina opened the door, she could hear the faint buzzing of voices, waiting, talking, probably mad as hell for having to wait ten more minutes.
“Are you coming?”
Emma had to bite her tongue to avoid letting out a whimper.
Town Hall Meetings. Were. The. Worst.
III.
“Miss Swan,” Regina sighed, closing her briefcase and avoiding Emma’s eyes as if they were the plague. “It’s awfully late and I’m leaving.”
“This will only take a second.”
“If this is about you seeing Henry again,” Emma’s breath got knocked out of her lungs.
It was indeed about seeing Henry again.
She knew she had fucked up.
In her own defense, who the hell kept the plans for building a new park so on the low? Surprise or not, this whole thing could’ve been avoided if only Regina had acted like a normal human being instead of a suspicious little rat.
Emma exhaled.
She had to stop, that type of thinking had led her to this uncomfortable situation in the first place.
It had been two weeks, and Regina still hadn’t allowed her to visit or spend time with Henry. Emma had even offered to do so at Regina’s mansion, where she could supervise them, but Regina had refused profusely and so here was Emma, like a dog coming back with its tail between its legs, remorseful and regretful but mostly unbelievably upset that Regina was able to hold a grudge for this long.
“Please, I’ve already said I’m sorry.”
Regina closed the blinds, barely paying her any mind.
“And I’ve already said no. Why can’t you respect that, Miss Swan? If you knew anything about boundaries you wouldn’t be in this position.”
Emma bit the inside of her cheek. She didn’t want to roll her eyes and give Regina any sort of excuse to keep withholding Henry from her.
“Regina,” at the way Regina’s shoulders tensed, Emma corrected herself: “ Madam Mayor , please, you have to understand… I only did what I thought was best.”
Regina turned around to see her, both hands on her hips, clearly exasperated at having the same conversation for the past two weeks.
“Oh, really? The best for whom?”
“You said it yourself: I’m the sheriff of this town, I have to look out for people, make sure they’re being taken care of, that their actions are met with fair treatment.”
“I’ve always done that, Miss Swan. Way before you got here.”
“Come on, you know what I mean.”
“Yes, I know exactly what you mean.”
Emma grunted.
The nice act wasn’t going to work, that much was clear now.
She had been nothing but good and apologetic towards Regina in the hopes that it would cut her some slack, praying it would lift the ridiculous punishment the Mayor was inflicting, not only on herself, but on Henry too. Talking through old walkie-talkies could only do so much. She needed to see him, hug him, make sure he was alright.
“Must I remind you, Sheriff, that I’ve been doing this all by myself for ten years?”
“Are we still talking about the town?”
“I know you’re not that stupid.”
“I just want to see him.”
“Well, I don’t want you to.”
Emma opened her mouth ready to counterattack when Regina’s door swung open after a tiny knock. Regina’s secretary poked her head inside, and though Emma could see Regina’s neck vein popping out probably due to discomfort and rage, she still offered the girl a smile and wished her goodnight before she disappeared, leaving them truly alone.
Perhaps the small interruption was needed.
Emma wasn’t here to fight.
It didn’t matter just how much Regina pushed her buttons to provoke a visceral reaction. She wasn’t here for her.
She was here for her kid.
“This can’t last forever, you know?” Emma spoke, as collected as she could, both of her hands tucked in the back pocket of her jeans. “I will wait for as long as I have to wait, but he’s not going to be as patient as I am and you know it.”
“Is that a threat?”
“No, it’s a fact.” She shrugged. “This is the same kid who stole a credit card, traveled to another city all on his own and risked who knows what to get to me… We live ten minutes away from each other now. If he’s not sneaking out it’s because I’ve told him not to.”
Regina’s eyes flashed with something like pain, but Emma couldn’t be entirely sure when it was so quickly discarded.
“Is that supposed to make me feel better?”
“No, that’s supposed to drill some sense into you. The more you say no, the more he’s going to fight it.”
“I don’t want to keep talking about this with you, Miss Swan.” Regina locked something away in one of the drawers of her desk and then walked towards the small couch where her purse and jacket were draped. “I have not and will not change my mind, no matter how much you keep pestering me.”
Emma followed her movements attentively. Watched as Regina pulled on her jacket, the muscles of her stomach contracting against the tight fabric of the blouse she was wearing, the defined lines of muscle making Emma forget for a single second the true reason of her visit.
Why did she have to look that good?
“He’s my son.” Regina said matter of factly.
Her stupid smirk crawling on her lips like she knew just how much it bothered Emma.
Suddenly, she remembered all too well why she was here, and the words hit Emma like a bucket of ice water being dropped on her head.
The freezing sensation of guilt, regret and pain lingering for only a second before the anger made its way across her entire body.
Her hands tightened into fists.
“Goodnight, Miss Swan.”
Regina started walking towards the door, not caring whether or not Emma would follow her out, but just as she had grabbed the door’s handle, a pair of strong hands turned her around.
A gasp echoed through the empty office at the same time that Regina’s bag hit the ground with a loud thud, and before she could make sense of what was happening, Regina found herself pinned against the door. One of Emma’s hands holding both of her wrists above her head as the other inched dangerously close to her throat.
“Have you gone insane?!” The Mayor roared as she struggled against the restraint. “Let me go right this instant!”
Emma’s eyes bore into hers.
A turmoil of emotions swirling around the deep green.
“He’s my son.” Emma’s words parroted her own from seconds before and Regina growled.
“No, he’s not .”
“You can keep denying it all you want, Regina,” and just as Emma spoke, her words full of rage and poison, her body inched closer and her hand moved towards its prize with will. “But you and I both know that he wants me, and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about that.”
“You can’t talk to me like that.” Regina answered, still struggling against her. “And you can most certainly not grab me like this either, let me go or…”
“Or what? You’ll beat me up? You’ll sue me?”
“I’ll kill you.”
The threat might have had an impact on anyone else, anyone that cowered over Regina’s authority and false pretense of control, but not Emma.
Because for some reason, Emma could see right through her. Had been able to from the very beginning.
And she knew that whatever Regina wanted to sell to everybody else in Storybrooke, wasn’t working nor would it ever work with her.
She could see it clear as day behind the angry sneer and the furrowed eyebrows: The cracking of her façade.
Emma knew she presented a threat to Regina, to the picture perfect life that she pretended to have, to the town she had cemented, to the peace and quiet that she had convinced herself existed in her little corner of Maine. Most importantly, Emma knew that Regina was well aware of just how much of a menace she was to her already deteriorating relationship with Henry.
Emma could see it behind the hatred—the absolute fear in Regina’s eyes.
Emma wished she didn’t feel sympathy towards her, but as the reflection of a broken woman just a step away from losing it all stared right back at her, she couldn’t swallow the burning ache spreading from her chest.
Emma did alway have a thing for broken people.
Shit.
This was a road she was not going to go down, because having to be in each other’s lives thanks to the misfortune of sharing a son was bad enough already without adding Emma’s intense attraction towards a woman that she so strongly despised to the mix.
Coming here was a mistake.
Emma sighed, defeated and tired and absolutely dreading just how much her recklessness was going to further affect her punishment in not seeing Henry.
“I’m sorry.” She muttered, not daring to look Regina in the eye.
For a second there was no response, and Emma would’ve taken that as her cue to leave, if only Regina’s body wasn’t still against the door, making no effort to move to let her out.
“That’s it?” The Mayor questioned with a tint of disappointment. “I should’ve known.”
Emma frowned.
“You’re all bark and no bite. Your courageous little act might impress Henry, your idiotic roommate, and the town people so ready to reveer your every move, but it’s in moments like this that I know,” and the way Regina’s voice bordered on venomous made Emma raise her head and stare deep into her eyes as the Mayor showcased a brilliant, sadistic smile her way. “You will always lose against me.”
Emma felt livid.
Regina straightened her back and smoothed down her ruffled skirt, suddenly uninterested in Emma, as if what had happened moments ago was already forgotten.
“Not that there’s really any sort of competition, I mean…” Regina cackled, just like old witches did in bad horror movies and it struck a nerve within Emma because she couldn’t believe that she was so willing to spare her when all Regina did was throw blow after blow, each lower than the last without any repair. “Look at you and look at me. It’s clear who the winner will always be.”
Emma snarled.
So much for fucking sympathy.
Emma hadn’t been tender when pinning Regina against the door, but she had somewhat made calculated moves and kept her cool (as much as one individual could while dealing with Regina Mills). This time however? Emma went right in without a single care.
Regina’s back hit against the surface with a painful sound as Emma’s body trapped her with her hand now closing around her throat, and Emma would have expected anything, really.
More berating and hissing and fighting as she completely went over the line but instead she was greeted by a moan.
Time seemed to stop.
Emma looked into Regina’s eyes, waiting for any sort of indication that the sound had been the illusion of a tired and angry mind, but as her gaze melted into Regina’s, the desire that glazed the other woman’s pupils was enough of an indicator that Emma wasn’t imagining things.
A moan…
So enticing and inviting that Emma couldn’t help but let go momentarily, giving Regina enough time to suck in a breath before tightening the grip once more, now fiercely attentive to the way Regina’s eyes closed slowly and her mouth opened in another rich and mind numbing moan that vibrated all the way to the fingertips shut against Regina’s throat and Emma wanted nothing more than to hear it again and again and again until it completely drowned out just how much a mess of a situation this was.
“We can’t do this,” Emma whispered as she repeated her actions, loosening her fingers so that Regina could take a moment to breathe.
“Agreed.” Regina said as she sucked in. “It would be idiotic.”
Emma hummed, closing her fingertips around Regina’s throat again as the woman stopped talking. “It would hurt Henry.”
Regina nodded, her legs spreading as one of Emma’s found its way between hers. Another moan followed as the chokehold got tighter, firmer, needier.
Emma watched her in awe.
She counted to five, then let go but only to allow Regina to inhale.
“Besides,” Regina’s voice was harsh. Emma knew she shouldn’t find it so attractive. “I hate you.”
Emma’s fingers closed around Regina’s throat once more.
“Good.” The sheriff said. “I fucking hate you too.”
Emma wasn’t sure who moved first, but as their lips collapsed against each other, she realized it didn’t really matter, especially not when Regina’s tongue found its way into her mouth, warm and wet and far too distracting for Emma to allow herself to listen to what her mind had to say.
Her hands quickly made way to the hem of Regina’s skirt, and when she felt Regina bucking her hips against her, Emma took the hint to lift it enough to let it settle on her hips.
“Fuck,” she muttered, breaking apart to look at Regina’s skimpy thong. It was black with tight purple ribbons at each side of the delicate string. It wasn’t something Emma would wear in a million years, but seeing it on Regina made her go positively rabid. “You wear this under your tight skirts? Shit, no wonder your ass looks so fucking good all the time.”
Regina gasped, wanting to sound offended but failing as the desire pooled down her lower belly.
“Miss Swan, that’s far too…”
Unprofessional? Distasteful? Vulgar?
Whatever it was, it died down in a whimper as Emma tore the garment away, her fingers sliding down her heat, gathering her wetness as she spread her apart, wanting to touch all of her warmth. Regina bucked her hips, too desperate to feel ashamed at just how much she wanted this.
“Fuck, you’re eager.” Emma growled, trying to contain the filth that she knew was about to spill from her mouth as her fingers grazed over Regina’s engorged clit—God, it was so hard already. “How do you want it?”
Regina’s legs trembled and she knew it would only be a matter of seconds before her knees gave out, which was why she found herself wrapping both her arms around Emma’s shoulder for support, who in turn, grabbed one of Regina’s thighs to secure it around her slim waist, leaving Regina completely open for her.
“I…” Regina tried, she really did, but as Emma’s fingers started moving against her in small and steady circular motions, she found all verbal coherency had abandoned her.
“Do you like it like this?” Emma questioned, though she didn’t expect an answer.
It was clear enough, with Regina basically grinding herself against her digits and her moans resonating through the empty office, that she didn’t have half a mind to respond, and still, maybe as a punishment for just how mean Regina had been, she picked up the pace.
Her steady circles now fast and hard side to side movements.
Regina’s nails dug into her shoulder blades as a silent scream left her mouth.
“Ah…” Emma smiled wide. “Like this, then.”
Emma knew it was wrong to gloat, but the way her ministrations were affecting Regina; moaning, scratching, getting white eyed, Emma couldn’t help it.
She loved to cause her this kind of pleasure.
“I can’t…” Regina’s voice wavered, looking at Emma as a new rush of wetness coated her fingers. “I can’t be late to dinner…”
“You better hurry up and come, then.” was all Emma could respond before her mouth occupied itself biting the exposed skin of Regina’s neck.
It wasn’t a command, not a proper one anyway, but Regina’s body obeyed all the same. Tensing her thighs as the sudden and unexpected wave of release shuddered through her entire body.
Her eyes closed and loud moans filled the air as slick and liquid heat smeared all over Emma’s fingers and Regina’s trembling thighs.
Had it not been for Emma holding her up, Regina would’ve surely ended up on the ground, spasming and attempting to catch her breath, shaking as she tried not to let crimson tint her cheeks at the realization that no one—in this realm or any other—had ever made her come as hard and fast as Emma Swan just did.
“Jesus fucking Christ, Regina.” Emma’s whisper barely registered in Regina’s still blissed out mind. “You are so hot.”
And if the absurdity of the situation hadn’t been good enough of a reason, the way Emma’s voice pronounced those words, like she was just as dumbfounded as Regina was, was enough to make the Mayor let out a sincere laugh. One that Emma had never heard before, and fuck if it didn’t make her look at the older woman with a secret fondness that she would never allow anybody to see.
“I have to get going,” Regina said in a sweet voice that Emma was not used to hearing.
The sheriff slowly helped her stand upright and as Regina wiped the few droplets of sweat off her forehead, Emma made herself useful by straightening Regina’s skirt, smoothing the fabric down as best she could. If Regina felt any discomfort by the fact that she was going commando, thanks to Emma’s carelessness, she didn’t make a big deal out of it.
Regina was back to her usual composed self only a few seconds later, and as she picked her purse up off the ground, the only evidence of their encounter was the way Regina’s legs wobbled every two or three steps and the red mark on the side of the jugular that Emma was smart enough not to mention, because she was certain it would break the enjoyable atmosphere that had settled around them.
“You can take Henry to school tomorrow.” Regina tried to make it sound as uninterested as she could muster. “Don’t be late.”
She looked at Emma for a few seconds, and in her gaze Emma saw the same thing that she had been silently wondering: How to put an end to this impromptu encounter?
Not an hour earlier, Emma would’ve simply stormed off the Mayor’s office with little to no care about what to say or do to finish their interaction, but the air felt heavier now, Regina’s office smelled like sex, Emma was certain there were nail marks on her shoulders and Regina’s bite on her neck was starting to turn purple.
The waiting was excruciating.
Then Regina cleared her throat.
Maybe Emma was overthinking this far too much.
“Have a goodnight, Miss Swan.”
Regina pressed her lips against her cheek, nothing sexual about it, just a firm pressure on her left cheekbone that tingled with the knowledge that they both shared a secret born from hatred and bad decisions.
Her eyes watched as Regina opened the door and walked away, her perfume lingering behind, making Emma sigh in something that she couldn’t identify, but didn’t feel like distaste.
Emma attributed it to the post orgasm bliss, because that was much easier for the both of them.
IV.
“Come on kid,” Emma tried for what felt like the hundredth time that day. “You’ve been like this since I picked you up. I thought you’d be happy about spending time with me again.”
Henry shifted in his seat uncomfortably.
They were parked in Emma’s bug just outside of the Mayor’s mansion, the sun already setting in the horizon.
For the past week Regina had allowed Emma to walk Henry to school, but today she had gone a step further, claiming that she had some very important business to attend to with some investors, so Emma had picked Henry from school and taken him out to lunch, excited at the prospect of finally spending more than ten minutes with her son.
Henry however wasn’t excited about it.
Emma had pushed all afternoon, asked if perhaps something had happened at school that had him angry, if he had had a bad day just for the sake of it and would rather go home early, had even gone far as to ask if something had happened with Regina, against her unspoken rule about avoiding the subject of Henry’s other mother whenever they were together.
Her son didn’t budge.
“Okay,” Emma sighed somewhat defeated, and helped him unbuckle his belt. “Your mom’s probably waiting, she told me you had to be home before dinner.”
“What did you do?” Henry’s question seemed to come out of nowhere, and Emma’s startled eyes probably told him she had no idea what he was talking about, so he took a deep breath to explain himself further. “To her.”
Emma raised an eyebrow.
“To… To your mom?”
Henry nodded, still looking uncomfortable.
Emma swallowed hard, suddenly feeling on the spot under painful scrutiny.
She had done something to Regina alright, but she doubted Henry would know just to what extent, he was far too young, and frankly it was none of his business—she refused to traumatize her kid with something of that nature.
“Can you… Elaborate on that? I’m not sure I follow you.”
Henry looked exasperated.
“I thought she was mad at you, that she didn’t want you to see me.”
“She was,” Emma started carefully. “We talked it out.” In a way. “And we came to an agreement.”
That didn’t do much to alleviate Henry’s concerns, if anything the way his cheeks got redder showed Emma just how much he wasn’t okay with whatever little “chat” her mothers had partaken in.
“You can’t be her friend.” Henry looked at her pointedly.
“Woah, woah,” Emma intervened before his train of thought would derail. “Kid, we’re not friends. Being civil with someone doesn’t necessarily mean that you like them.”
“But you will!” Henry interjected. “Because you’re good and she will do whatever it takes to maintain the curse, even befriend you. With the savior fooled, she will keep everybody frozen here and you will never break it! It’s a perfect plan, you have to be smarter than her.”
“Okay,” Emma sighed. “That’s enough. Off you go.”
Emma had tried being patient, had tried buying into his fantasy to help him cope with just how crazy his life had gotten in the past few months, but there was only so much she could endure and today she was at her limit.
Extending her arms toward the copilot’s door, she opened it for him and waited for Henry to push it to get out but he only crossed his arms over his chest, still staring daggers at her in a manner that looked so much like Regina that a shiver ran down her spine.
“You have to believe, Emma.” He whispered, like he had suddenly remembered they were on the enemy’s front. “If you don’t, then you won’t be able to break it.”
“Henry… I believe you, I promise.”
“That’s not enough.” He was quick to say. “You have to believe in this.”
This was pointless.
Leaning over his side, Emma pushed the car’s door open and when she didn’t say anything else on the matter, Henry had no other option than to whisper a defeated ‘goodnight, Emma’ before he climbed out of the bug and crossed the street to the mansion.
Emma observed in silence as what she assumed was the kitchen light turned off, only for another one of the lights at the other side of the mansion to brighten up. She thought absentmindedly of what Regina had cooked them for dinner, Henry always downplayed her cooking skills, saying they weren’t that big of a deal, but Emma had seen him engulf an entire tupperware of various dishes that Regina packed him for lunch. More than once she had been tempted to ask for a bite, but as he was so convinced that Regina was on a quest to eliminate her, she never did.
She stayed put, watching as lights turned on and off, until she saw the one in Henry’s room light up, for a second she felt the urge to grab the walkie-talkie that had remained untouched in her glove box for the past week, but she wasn’t sure what she would say to Henry or if it would make him feel better at all, so she simply waited, saw as the shadow of her son walked side to side in his bedroom before the lights went completely off.
Emma sighed.
It was getting late anyway, she had to go home if she wanted to avoid Mary Margaret’s invasive questions; she liked her roommate more than enough (if she didn’t, Emma would’ve run off ages ago) but there was only so much goodness and eagerness that she could put up with, especially at almost ten pm.
She was so lost in her train of thought, her hand holding onto the key in the ignition but never really turning it to leave, that when a knock on her window crept up on her, she let out an undignified squeak, accompanied by a tiny jump.
“Jesus,” she muttered as her eyes made out the feminine figure standing in the dark.
Regina wore a silky bathrobe, which Emma would have appreciated properly had it not been a cold night.
As fashionable as the attire was, what with the dark fabric contrasting in white details that ran down the neckline, highlighting the probably tight nightgown that Regina was wearing underneath, it couldn’t possibly be comfortable at this hour.
Emma opened the door and the Mayor stepped aside so she could stand there with her in the middle of the road. The pale moonlight and the faint sound of crickets the only witnesses to their encounter.
“Madam Mayor,” Emma greeted as she leaned against her car.
They hadn’t talked much. Not since… The incident , and Emma would be lying if she said she was in her element.
She wasn’t sure how to talk to Regina, if that night had been nothing but the spur of the moment and never meant to be discussed again, or if by some improbable miracle the chance to repeat said encounter would be possible as long as Emma played her cards right.
(Emma sucked at cards).
“You’ve been parked out here for more than an hour, Miss Swan. I hope my good deed wasn’t mistaken for an invitation to become a stalker.”
Emma rolled her eyes.
Maybe she had been quick to jump into conclusions. Maybe this was better for them, the banter, the constant nagging at each other’s throats was their safe ground, it was familiar for them. Sickeningly enough it brought a sense of comfort and stability to Emma’s insecurity over how to talk to Regina, over how to treat her after what had happened.
“I wasn’t planning on staying out here like a creep,” Emma’s tone carried deep offense. “I lost track of time, that’s all.”
Regina hummed.
“What are you doing here?”
A stream of cold air went past them, making Regina shiver, Emma’s eyes immediately caught the way her nipples hardened under the silk of her robe.
Fuck, maybe she was a creep.
“Stop staring,” Regina snapped Emma’s attention back to her face, and even though her voice sounded harsh, the mischievous twinkle in her eye made it lose its effect. “It’s terribly unbecoming.”
Emma licked her lips.
“And if I don’t wanna?”
Regina smiled almost sadistically, her pearly white teeth revealing how much of a well calculated plan this had all been from the start.
“You’re a grown woman, Miss Swan. You should be able to control your desire better than a hormonal teenage boy.”
It was meant to insult her, but Emma had to give it to Regina—she was right.
(Not that she would be caught dead saying those words aloud because she was sure that if she ever did, the Universe would explode at how much Regina’s ego would inflate).
“Perhaps,” Emma started slowly, taking a tentative step towards the older woman. “But you don’t see yourself, Regina.”
A tiny laugh escaped past Regina’s lips. “I see myself plenty.”
“No,” Emma was quick to intervene before Regina could say anything else. “Not like I see you.”
Emma’s intention hadn’t been to sound… Romantic.
She was trying to go for more of an erotic approach, but now that the words were out there, there wasn’t much she could do about them, and it was clear Regina was just as perplexed as she was.
She watched as Regina opened her mouth, a question tingling at the tip of her tongue, but just as quick as the curiosity had tinted her features, it was gone and instead, Emma found herself pressed against the side of her car, Regina’s lips on hers as the Mayor grabbed onto the lapel of her leather jacket.
Her shock was quickly discarded and in a second, she had flipped them around, Emma’s lips swallowing the whine that Regina had let out after her back crashed loudly against the car.
Emma hadn’t realized how badly she wanted this to happen again, but now that she had Regina once more, she couldn’t help but give in to her most primal thoughts.
Her tongue caressed Regina’s as her hands touched everywhere she could possibly reach, down her neck, scratching at her collarbone and stopping to squeeze her breast, reeling at the way Regina cried out as silently as she could muster every time Emma’s thumb paid close attention to her hard nipples.
The flimsy excuse of a ribbon that had tied Regina’s robe together started to loosen up, and excited at the prospect of new skin to touch and dig into, Emma broke apart to open it up completely, smiling at seeing just how short Regina’s nightgown was.
“You have amazing legs,” Emma whispered against her neck before biting on the olive skin. Regina’s perfume had washed away throughout the day, but as Emma licked and nipped, she found herself absolutely intoxicated at Regina’s personal scent. “And you smell so fucking delicious.”
Emma’s hands continued their descent, grabbing Regina’s hips hard enough to bring her impossibly closer.
“We’re not— ah —We’re not having sex in the middle of the street.” Regina whispered through gritted teeth, tugging on Emma’s blonde locks to try and detach her from her neck.
“I’m not fucking you while Henry’s asleep in the house.” Was Emma’s turn to answer, barely paying attention to Regina’s insistent tugs.
“God, you’re insufferable.”
Emma’s hands found their way onto Regina’s ass and wasting no time, she squeezed, her short fingernails digging into the soft and defined flesh, Regina’s protest all but forgotten as her hips bucked and she threw her head back.
Emma knew Regina didn’t like her car, she didn’t like a lot of the things that Emma had or was, but it was their only option at the moment, and with the way Regina was panting, holding hard onto her hair and her shoulders whenever Emma broke away to breathe, she doubted she would have objections.
(She did have objections but Emma quickly shut them down as her fingers twisted one of Regina’s nipples).
The backseat of the bug was spacious, but not enough to fit two adults laid down together, which was why Regina was currently straddling Emma’s lap, her chest right in Emma’s face as the sheriff guided Regina’s hips into a slow movement that shot a wave of pleasure between her legs whenever Regina’s soaked panties hit particularly good against the seam of Emma’s jeans.
“Fuck, Regina…” Emma watched almost breathless as Regina rolled her hips, desperately trying to get the relief she ached for. “I can smell you…”
Regina groaned. “Then do something about it.”
And Emma knew she was testing her luck, and probably risking her life as one of her hands slipped past their joined bodies until her fingers were resting against Regina’s heat and Jesus —she was so wet Emma could feel it soak through the fabric of Regina’s underwear.
“Ask me nicely.”
Regina’s eyes shot daggers at her, but Emma didn’t lose her bravado.
“You’re so…”
Emma smirked as she pressed her fingers harder against the wetness, slowly moving them in circles. Regina bucked her hips against her, a series of moans and grunts following her motions, desperate at how good it felt but how it still wasn’t enough.
“Miss Swan, I swear, if you don’t…”
“I don’t think you can make any demands, Regina.” Taking advantage of the position they were in, Emma’s lips started leaving a trail of wet kisses down her collarbone, stopping at the edge of her nightgown, where she bit and sucked and rejoiced herself in the way Regina’s body shook against her. “What do you want?”
Regina threw her head back, if it was due to pleasure or exasperation, Emma wasn’t sure, and she certainly didn’t care much either when Regina’s dark eyes stared into hers, the mixture of lust and frustration making her pupils shine in a way that was so dangerous, Emma couldn’t help but get lost in them.
“Fuck me.”
Emma’s brain short circuited, between the forceful thrusts of Regina’s hips against her and the way her voice dripped in what Emma could only describe as sinful honey, she couldn’t do much else but groan.
Last time they had done this it had been in a rush, and even though Emma hadn’t known they would be doing it again, she vowed that if it were to ever occur once more, she was going to take her sweet time, taking in all of Regina as she lost herself to pleasure.
However…
Looking at Regina— feeling just how turned on she was against the palm of her hand—Emma couldn’t help rushing into it.
Two of her fingers barely circled Regina’s entrance before they were sinking into her.
“Fuck,” Emma heard herself mutter as Regina’s own moans filled her ears.
She wanted to say something more articulate, wanted to do so much more to Regina now that she was finally inside her, but Emma’s brain was apparently being mushed into a pile of goo that didn’t allow her to do anything other than move her fingers inside of Regina’s tightness, feeling lightheaded as the muscles contracted around her digits, making it hard for her to pump into the Mayor, who in turn started moving her hips at the same rhythm that Emma was establishing.
It was too much.
The feeling of Regina clenching around her fingers, moaning loudly, her head thrown back in the utmost pleasure as she started to ride Emma…
Jesus fucking Christ.
She knew Regina was going to destroy her.
Had known ever since she had arrived in Storybrooke.
Emma just didn’t think she was going to be destroyed like this: With the absolute compulsion that was Regina Mills bucking into her, hands tangled in blonde locks in an attempt to go faster… Deeper… Harder.
“Look at me.” Emma urged her as the back of her hand started rubbing into Regina’s swollen clit while her fingers began to quicken their pace. “Please, look at me.”
And when Regina did, Emma’s throat went dry.
Regina’s eyes were so lost in her own desire, a slight fog had started to cloud around her pupils and Emma wanted to smack herself at just how attractive she found it.
At how much she found Regina absolutely irresistible.
God .
How had she ended up here?
“Oh!” Regina’s mouth opened as Emma’s fingers curled upwards inside of her, her palm rubbing deliciously against her clit at the same time.
Emma wasn’t even going to question anything anymore.
Her sole focus now was on making Regina make that noise again.
And again.
And again .
“Like that?” Emma grunted, repeating the same motion and getting Regina’s eyebrows to shoot upwards. “You like it when I fuck you like that, Regina?”
The Mayor groaned.
“Miss Swan!” She sounded scandalized, but Emma couldn’t care less as Regina continued moving against her hand, clearly not as offended by her crass language to stop her ministrations.
“I would’ve figured that having my fingers so deep inside of you would make you drop the formality.”
Regina’s eyes rolled to the back of her head, Emma wasn’t sure if it was due to annoyance or bliss as her orgasm started to build.
“I can feel you…” Emma continued talking, her own words turning her on more than they strictly should. “You’re close, aren’t you?”
Regina moaned.
“Come on, Regina.” Emma’s fingers pumped harder, the slick sounds of wetness echoing around them. “Say it.”
Regina was so tight… So fucking tight .
“Say it.” Emma insisted, her eyes piercing into Regina’s, her fingers never relenting in their pace.
Regina’s clit throbbed.
“Say it.”
She was coming.
Loud and messy and coating Emma’s fingers with liquid heat.
“Emma,” Regina chanted as her hips bucked and her walls clenched.
Emma felt a pressure settle in the middle of her sternum.
“ Em-ma .”
It was as if her heart was being squeezed.
Regina slumped against her then, her forehead against Emma’s in an attempt to regain some of the consciousness that had surely been knocked out of her due to the power of her orgasm, and as beautiful as she looked, as pretty as the pink flush on her cheeks was and as gorgeous as her bruised lips were, Emma couldn’t shake the growing feeling inside of her chest.
Couldn’t shake how much she didn’t want to push Regina away.
As careful as her usually clumsy fingers could be, Emma pulled out of her and dammit, Regina’s little whine did things that no other human being had been able to do to her for the past twenty-eight years.
Regina opened her eyes, the fog was still there, less apparent but still cloudy enough for the Mayor to ignore common sense, both her hands grabbing onto Emma’s cheeks to stare right into her, like she wanted Emma to see past her pupils, past the post orgasmic glow right into her soul.
And Emma didn’t know why, couldn’t find any logical explanations for it at the present moment either, but she had no idea why she could always read Regina, freakishly and concerningly well.
Emma could see the hesitation in Regina’s eyes.
The want, the need…
It was weird though, because as much as the longing was present in the deep brown, Emma could easily identify that this, whatever it was that Regina wanted, went beyond the physicality of their encounter.
She gulped.
Did Regina want her to… Come inside and stay the night?
It was scary… It was even scarier just how much Emma wanted it too.
“I…” Regina started, her voice hoarse, almost quivering.
Then it happened.
A light.
The light on the top left side of Regina’s mansion.
“Henry’s awake,” Emma couldn’t stop herself from pointing it out, and just as the vulnerability had overtaken Regina’s features, it was gone.
Emma, you idiot .
“I better go.”
And Emma wanted to stop her. She wanted to grab her and kiss her and leave her breathless enough to selfishly keep Regina with her, but as the Mayor climbed off her lap and out of her bug, Emma realized it was too late for that.
Perhaps also too much.
She got out right after her, ignoring the pressure in her lower abdomen and the way her jeans suddenly felt too tight on her groin.
Would it be too low to beg for an orgasm?
“You should go home as well,” Regina broke her away from her train of thought. “It’s late.”
Too low.
Too embarrassing.
Too hopeless.
“Goodnight, Miss Swan.”
The strong sense of deja vù followed by nausea as Regina pressed a soft kiss on her cheek and Emma watched her walk away into her house, had Emma bending over her knees, whether to puke or to try and catch her breath, she wasn’t sure.
But before she could dwell too much on it, the distant sound of an engine inching towards her made her square her shoulders up, it wasn’t that late yet and it was a Thursday, so Emma wasn’t too surprised to hear movement around town, but as there was only one person in Storybrooke who rode a motorcycle, Emma knew immediately who it was.
August’s bike came to an abrupt halt mere centimeters away from where Emma was standing against her car and she had to stop herself from rolling her eyes at the ridiculous display of theatrics.
“Late night?” He started taking off his helmet, his gaze already piercing into Emma in the same way Henry had done hours ago.
It made her shift uncomfortably from one foot to another.
“Something like that.”
August smirked. “I didn’t know you and the Mayor were so close.”
The implication was less than subtle and a wide variety of emotions crossed Emma’s psyche before it finally settled on distaste.
“Are you stalking me?”
“Stalking is such an ugly word,” he had the gall to look offended. “Looking out sounds much better.”
Emma crossed her arms over her chest.
She was not in the mood to deal with whatever mind games August wanted to play, especially not when her underwear felt heavy and Regina’s scent still lingered on her fingers.
“I don’t need you to look out for me.”
“I’m curious,” he continued, ignoring Emma’s clear discomfort. “About this… Relationship that you have with Regina.”
“We don’t have a relationship.” Emma was quick to interject.
“What would you call it, then?”
Emma was left stricken.
She hadn’t given it much thought, any at all if she was being honest, and considering that this was only the second time that… Whatever she was doing with Regina happened, then she thought it was fair enough that she didn’t have a concrete answer to the question August posed.
Even so, the more she thought about it, the more the pressure in her chest seemed to become heavier, almost asphyxiating her as the thoughts of how to catalog her impulsive and lust driven encounters with Regina became intrusive to the point where her libido plummeted straight to the ground.
“You know what?” She said, defensive albeit terrified. “I don’t have to explain anything to you.”
August chuckled.
Emma didn’t know what was so funny.
“Let’s go out tomorrow, I need to show you something.”
“What? Another well?”
“No, but it’s related to your job.”
Emma quirked an eyebrow: “Is it crime related? Because if anybody could be in possible danger I think it’s better if you show it to me now.”
August shook his head.
“Your actual job. The savior job.”
Emma sighed.
It wasn’t enough that she had to deal with Henry’s delusion (not that she would ever call it that to his face because she knew just how much it would hurt him, but as of late it was getting harder and harder for Emma to keep up with his charade), now she also had to convince this grown man, who appeared just as stubborn as her son that her job as “The Savior”, was merely an illusion.
“Right…” She cleared her throat, turning her back on him to unlock her bug. “Listen, it’s late and I really don’t have time for this. You can keep talking to Henry about this if it’ll make you feel better. You two have the same active imagination, it’d seem.”
However, before she could get inside and flee the scene, August grabbed her by the elbow, forcing her to face him again, and when Emma did, he finally noticed his countenance.
There were prominent purple bags under his eyes, his beard looked disheveled like he hadn’t had the proper time to trim it, his lips looked dry and his face looked pale, almost like his skin was transforming into something she couldn’t place her finger on.
“Hey, are you alright?”
He let her go, instantly avoiding her gaze.
“Just this once, Emma. I promise, if you don’t believe me by tomorrow night, I’ll leave you be.”
She bit the inside of her cheek.
She didn’t know what August was playing at but she did know that whatever it was, it was meant to end poorly, especially since no matter how hard he tried, she wasn’t going to believe any of the nonsensical stories he had to share.
Henry had tried for months with no avail, and he was her kid.
“Please,” he insisted upon seeing her hesitation. “What do you have to lose?”
Emma looked past his frame to the house on the other side of the road. She saw one of the far lights from the front turn on, illuminating the otherwise dark street and she found herself sighing in what could only be considered yearning.
She couldn’t yearn for Regina.
They still hated each other…
Kind of.
“Fine.”
August smiled. “Tomorrow, meet me at Granny’s at eight. We have to leave early if we wanna avoid traffic.”
“Traffic? Where are we going?”
“You’ll see.”
Emma was unable to form any words before he was slipping his helmet on and hopping on his bike, careless about the inner turmoil that was forming in the pit of her stomach.
As the engine sound faded in the distance, Emma found herself looking at Regina's mansion again, hoping she would open the front door to invite her in, like she had almost managed to do minutes ago.
It never happened.
Emma left soon after.
V.
Emma almost ignored the knocking.
Mary Margaret had just left for work fifteen minutes ago, David knew about her schedule so it definitely wasn’t him, and since she had tried to leave town with Henry, her son hadn’t tried contacting her, which meant that whoever was at the door could suck it because she was not done moping and she wanted to enjoy doing so in peace.
The knocking just got more insistent.
God, she wished she hadn’t packed her headphones in one of the boxes she still hadn’t bothered to reopen. Ignoring the annoying sound could’ve been so much easier if she had them on.
Another pounding, this time harsher.
Emma audibly groaned as she stood from her seat at the kitchen bar. Her cereal already too soggy to keep on eating it anyway.
Yet another pounding.
Fucking girl scouts.
“I don’t want cookies!” She all but yelled once she opened the door.
To her surprise, on the other side of the door, there wasn’t a girl scout but Regina, clad in one of her expensive blouses, high heels and one of the angriest expressions Emma had seen in all her time knowing the Mayor.
“You tried leaving?!” Regina pushed her inside with a finger to the sternum. Her tone was ear-piercing enough for Emma to understand that Regina already knew the answer and was doing this to merely torture her. “With Henry?!”
How had Regina found out? Emma had no idea.
“Yeah,” she sheepishly said as Regina kept pushing her. “It was an impulsive decision, I know.”
“Impulsive?!” The wind coming through one of the open windows in the loft slammed the door closed and just as the sound rang all across the apartment, Emma found herself trapped against the kitchen bar and Regina’s body. “That’s not impulsive, Miss Swan. That’s stupid and quite frankly, a lawsuit waiting to happen. Who do you think you are kidnapping Henry in the middle of the night?”
“Woah, kidnapping? Come on Regina, he’s my son.”
“You weren’t taking him for a spin! You were taking him away from me. I’m his mother.”
“Stop talking like you’re the only one responsible for him, you always do that!”
“Because I am . You were going to flee and then what? Did you even think about the expenses and responsibilities that having a ten year old child imply? School, clothing, food— God , Miss Swan if you actually saw how much he eats you would’ve thought about it twice before running away.”
Emma stood straighter, forcing Regina to take a few steps back so she could get away from the edge of the kitchen bar, which was painfully digging into her lower back.
“Why are you making such a big deal out of this?!” Emma finally snapped. “I came back.”
Regina looked straight into her eyes. Past the turmoil of rage, Emma saw the flash of hurt that crossed her pupils, and maybe it was just her wishful thinking due to how much she had been dreaming about Regina for the past couple of days but Emma was almost sure that the hurt Regina displayed wasn’t just about Emma taking Henry away.
“Regina…” Emma’s voice softened, almost to the point that her words became a sweet whisper.
“Don’t.” Regina was quick to interrupt her, putting one of her hands up to try and deter Emma from coming any closer. “Don’t do this.”
“I’m not doing anything.”
“Yes you are! You are… Confusing me.”
Emma took a step closer, measuring just how Regina would react by doing so. Regina remained in place, her hand still held up between the distance that Emma shortened.
“How?”
Regina huffed but more than annoyed, she appeared to be defeated.
“I’m supposed to hate you.” Regina lowered her gaze as well as her hand. “I sacrificed so much for this town… For Henry… For my happiness,” and Emma could feel the wrath coating every word, clinging onto every phrase with desperation she was almost sure Regina felt too. “And you… You are ruining it all.”
Emma took another step closer.
“I’m sorry?”
“No, no! You don’t get to be sorry.” Regina whined, her anger giving way to pain and frustration, and although Emma couldn’t see her, the slight crack of her voice was enough to know Regina was close to breaking. “You don’t get to… Do this to me and then be all self-righteous and annoyingly kind about it.”
“I don’t…” Emma cleared her throat, trying to shake the feeling of it constricting around her heart. “I don’t know what I’m doing to you, Regina.”
And then Regina raised her face again, meeting her gaze with Emma’s, the deep brown of her eyes clouded by tears that were mere seconds away from spilling and staining her rosy cheeks.
Fuck.
How fucked up was it that Emma found her incredibly beautiful like this?
She had seen the vulnerable side of Regina on less than a handful of occasions, but today it seemed different somehow.
It was so raw, so sincere, so terribly on display—as if Regina was exposing a beloved side of her soul due to a visceral emotion and really, what could Emma do besides taking it all in?
Her body acted of its own accord as both of her hands came to rest against Regina’s waist.
Regina’s gasp filled the entire loft.
And then Emma tugged her towards the front of her body.
Her arms closed around her frame, her chin resting against Regina’s slumped shoulders.
Regina smelled like green apples and bad decisions and Emma was crazy about it.
About her .
“I’m not…” Regina whispered, hidden in the crook of Emma’s neck and sending a shiver down the blonde’s spine. “I’m not supposed to like you.”
Emma squeezed her sides.
Regina let out another gasp, this one breathier than the last.
“Why not?”
She felt Regina swallow against her throat, her body tensing beneath her embrace.
Emma tried breaking apart in an attempt to look at Regina’s face better, urging her to continue, but trying was to no avail as Regina didn’t allow her to move away.
“Regina?” She tried, making her voice a whisper in order to maintain the intimate bubble that was created around them.
Regina didn’t answer.
She stayed silent in Emma’s arms, tense yet pliant under their embrace. Every now and then Emma could feel her loudly exhale against her skin, and if she paid close attention, could also feel how the Mayor’s body thrummed against her every time a tear wetted a trail down her collarbone.
Emma wasn’t sure how long they had stayed there in complete stillness, but when Regina finally broke apart, her mascara was slightly smeared and the color of her lips had vanished.
She saw as the Mayor took a deep breath, stilling herself for what was about to come.
“He’s right.” Regina said, using that serious tone of voice that Emma knew well enough from their Town Hall Meetings.
And yet, as obvious as it was, Emma still frowned in confusion.
“Henry. He’s right.”
It felt like a punch to the gut.
Emma’s jaw tightened.
“...No”
“Yes.”
“No, Regina, he’s not.”
“Yes, he is.”
It was like the earth was moving under her feet, like the blatant truth of what she had chosen to ignore was now swinging at her at full force, laughing at its triumph.
There was a hurricane of memories swirling around her brain. The many times Henry tried to make her believe, just for her to dismiss him, hurting him repeatedly with her careless attitude when all he was attempting to do was doing the right thing. August going on a rampage about Emma having to fulfill the prophecy, practically begging her to step up on her faith given role as the savior, which had made her run away because maybe Storybrooke was full of fucking psychos after all…
Memories about Regina. About Henry being in therapy because of his delusion, about Regina taking away his book because it was all nonsense, about Regina lying about this whole thing like the evil queen she was supposed to be.
Emma felt like crying or hitting a wall or puking or maybe all three at the same time.
Her hands closed into fists and her red rimmed eyes looked at Regina with a mixture of anger and pain.
“Are you fucking kidding me?”
“Emma…”
And Emma hated herself for it, but her heart jumped out of her chest and the warmth in her stomach did somersaults at hearing Regina utter her name in almost a prayer.
Fuck.
She lunged forward, grabbing Regina by the lapels of her blouse, flipping them quickly so Regina was the one now trapped between Emma’s body and the edge of the kitchen bar.
“Emma…”
Fuck, there it was again.
Emma bit her lip, trying to suppress the need to bite Regina’s neck.
She was outraged.
She was angry.
She wanted to hurt Regina.
( No, she didn’t).
She wanted revenge on Regina.
(No, she didn’t).
She wanted to kiss Regina until they were both breathless.
(Yes, she did. Oh, how she wanted it).
“You…” She wasn’t sure of what to say. There were so many things she wanted to scream, so many more she wanted to ask, but as Regina stayed there, breathing heavily with the evidence of tears tainting her cheekbones, she couldn’t find the appropriate words.
It seemed like Regina had that power over her, had had it even before now, where Emma could never find the right thing to say whenever they were this close.
Where did they go from here?
Slowly, as if she was giving herself up for sacrifice, Emma let Regina go.
She wasn’t sure what Regina would do to her, since Emma was supposedly the hero meant to defeat her and she was all but serving herself up on a silver platter.
Henry had mentioned the atrocities once committed by the Evil Queen back in the Enchanted Forest, and how she wished she had paid enough attention to his tellings now that they encountered themselves in this situation, but her head was a mess of emotions and confusion and doubt and she really didn’t feel like going on a quest to find a magical sword or whatever the prophecy ruled was necessary to end Regina’s curse.
(Would a kitchen knife do?)
Emma sighed. “Well… What are you waiting for?”
Regina quirked an eyebrow.
“Pardon?”
“Yeah. You’re not… I don’t know… Going to turn me into a frog or something?”
Regina looked downright offended, like Emma had said something viciously unimaginable.
“Who do you think I am? The Witch from The Wizard of Oz? Do you really think I would end you by turning you into an animal?”
“I don’t know how this whole thing works! Are we supposed to fight it out one on one? Do we get a referee? Because as much as you’re not going to turn me into a frog I think it’s hardly fair that you get to use magic when I have nothing but my gun.” She absentmindedly touched her belt.
Her gun wasn’t there.
“Fuck… Okay, no gun.”
Regina rolled her eyes. “Storybrooke doesn’t have magic, Emma.”
“Really?”
“Yes. It was one of the curse’s conditions. No magic, no ability to leave town, no memory of the life we once lived, except for me, since I was the caster.”
“Huh…” That really didn’t make her feel more confident about this whole thing. “So… Fist fight?”
“Emma,” Regina sounded exasperated now and it made Emma feel slightly better. This was the Regina she knew, the dynamic that she was used to. “I don’t want to fight you. I told you the truth about it because…”
Emma’s heart beat rapidly against her chest. Would Regina be able to hear it with how loudly it was thumping?
“You’re important to Henry.” Regina said somewhat strained and Emma had to fight the surge of disappointment that washed over her at Regina’s reasoning. “And I don’t… I don’t want to hurt him more than I already have. When he finds out this whole thing is true he’s going to hate me.”
Tears fell free across Regina’s face once again and Emma winced, because she knew she had to be upset about the whole thing but as Regina’s fear and fragility invaded the air, Emma found it harder to find the rage within herself that she had imagined would’ve been stored if she ever found out her life was a low budget Disney film.
“He’s not going to hate you.” Emma walked towards Regina. She wanted to hold her, like she had done before her whole world had turned upside down, but thought better of it and instead put both of her hands in her jean pockets, scratching the denim in an attempt to calm the urge to wrap Regina around her. “I know things have been hard between the two of you, but he’s smart enough to realize that he would be foolish not to keep on loving you.”
Emma had been paying close attention to all of Regina’s reactions, so when the tears didn’t stop and on the contrary, they started pooling around Regina’s eyes, Emma felt a tug in her heart.
“Did I say something wrong…?”
“Do you think he loves me?”
She sounded baffled, like she couldn’t believe someone would be able to love her, and Emma’s entire body shook.
Faith or no faith, she was certain this wasn’t supposed to happen—she wasn’t supposed to feel so strongly about Regina Mills. She wasn’t supposed to be enthralled by her. She wasn’t supposed to get weak just by looking at her… Then again, Emma wasn’t supposed to be part of a fairy tale and, hard as it was to believe, she was, so maybe her strong affection for Regina wasn’t the wildest thing after all.
Not trusting herself to voice any of her thoughts Emma nodded. She wasn’t sure how it happened, maybe because her mind was still reeling from all of the new information learned, but suddenly Regina was coming towards her, a small and hopeful smile adorning her features and before Emma could ask what was happening, Regina’s lips grazed hers. Soft and sweet and Emma could barely pretend that she didn’t desperately need to feel her.
Her hands quickly grabbed Regina by the waist, her lips moving against hers as if she were starving.
Logically she knew that it didn’t matter how much they delayed the inevitable, it would come back to haunt them, but as Regina’s moans echoed through the loft and her lips started their descent from Emma’s chin to the side of her neck, she realized she had never been a person ruled by logic anyway.
Regina moved fast, too eager as she lifted the edge of Emma’s tank top to then discard it somewhere on the floor, Emma’s belt was unbuckled as well, her jeans soon following the rest of her clothing.
“Regina, fuck,” Emma heard herself groan as her fingernails dug into Regina’s skin, the sharpness of her movement earning her a high pitched moan that was soon drowned by a trail of wet kisses, left from her jugular to just over one of her bra cups.
She wanted to ask—to beg—for more.
Regina was so close, yet so far away from where she needed her the most, and sure maybe she looked a little bit too desperate tugging on Regina’s silky chemise, urging her to hurry, but she had been waiting for this for far too long and the arousal that had been gathering within herself for weeks was now coming back full force.
“Emma, this is Gucci,” Regina said as her teeth bit Emma’s nipple from over her bra. “You cannot tear this blouse off.”
And immature as it was, Emma whined and stomped her feet against the floor, which would’ve been (even more) embarrassing had Regina not giggled against her skin in a way that had her stupid heart jumping all the way from her chest to her throat.
“Patience…” Regina whispered. Emma hadn’t seen both her hands sneak their way to her back to undo her bra, but when she did feel it a shudder went straight to her core. “I promise I’ll make you feel good. We’re just getting started.”
If this was Regina warming up, then Emma was going to have serious problems when they got to the real deal.
“If I’m not allowed to tear it off, can you please take it off?”
Regina’s smile became devilish.
“My… Who would’ve thought?” Emma frowned, not sure what Regina was talking about, but as she started to unbutton her blouse, her gaze fixated on Emma as her fingers slowly and deftly worked their way to the hem of the garment, Emma realized she didn’t care that much. “You do have good manners.”
“You’re pushing your luck, Regina.”
“I can stop if you want me to.” Regina batted her eyelashes in a way that would’ve fooled no one—especially as her blouse fell to the floor, leaving her in a red lace number that in contrast with the olive skin and the dark blue of the tight skirt that she was still wearing made Emma almost lose her balance.
Maybe Regina wasn’t going to kill her with a malicious spell or a poisonous dagger, but she was going to destroy Emma anyway with how good she looked in lingerie.
“Don’t you dare stop.” She was almost quick to recover in her gaping glory, and Regina’s laughter did nothing to alleviate the pressure in her lower belly that kept reminding Emma just how badly she needed to be touched.
“Alright then.”
Just like that, in the blink of an eye, Regina was on her knees in front of Emma. Her hands running up and down her calves, her hot breath ghosting over quivering thighs and—for the love of whoever was up in the sky, Emma’s legs weren’t strong enough to hold her up as Regina looked straight into her eyes with the purest look of lust Emma had seen in all her years of existence.
Regina licked her lips, lowering her gaze to Emma’s boyshorts.
The anticipation built.
Emma felt another wave of arousal wash over her, surely coating the white cotton of her underwear, making it that much more obvious how much she wanted this.
Regina’s smirk confirmed she could see it too.
“Please.” She heard the plea around the silence of the apartment, yet realized Regina’s lips hadn’t moved with it and oh —it was her .
She was begging for it.
Her hips bucking against the heavy air between Regina and her.
“Please, Regina, please…”
She would’ve felt embarrassed about her lack of dignity had it not been for Regina’s warm tongue licking across her slit slowly, effectively silencing all and any thoughts inside her head.
A moan rippled through her at the same time Regina’s whine vibrated against her clit, and the sensations were too strong for a second she thought she was going to pass out.
“You’re so wet,” Regina murmured, her head bobbing up and down as she spread the warmth all over Emma’s aching core.
Fuck… How was she so good at that?
How was it possible to feel so much through the thin fabric of her panties? How had Regina managed to circle the outline of her engorged clit so gently yet so right? Most importantly, how was Emma supposed to prove she wasn’t a teenage boy but in fact an adult woman, when she felt the surprising and invasive waves of her orgasm start to build rapidly in the pit of her stomach?
“Regina,” she moaned. One of her hands tangling in the short black hair to tug at Regina’s head with the purpose of pulling her slightly away.
Now, it was well known that Emma wasn’t the brightest of the bunch, but in retrospect she should’ve seen it coming.
Regina’s eyes rolled into the back of her head and she melted against Emma’s harsh grip, her purpose renewed and stronger than before.
Her lips closed around Emma’s all-too-sensitive bundle of pleasure, her hands digging into Emma’s ass to stop her from running away as her tongue lapped and licked and sucked, coating Emma’s already ruined underwear with more wetness.
Emma closed her eyes, tried to think of anything that could stop her from coming in what surely was the fastest orgasm in the book of Guinness World Records, but as the obscene sounds of Regina’s mouth fucking her to oblivion rung throughout her ears, Emma could only tug harder at the dark hair, absolutely delighted that Regina’s moans hit exactly where she needed them.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck .” Emma chanted as her hips bucked against Regina’s face. “Fuck, you’re so hot, you’re so fucking hot.”
And maybe Regina smiled, maybe she giggled, maybe she did nothing of the sorts. Emma couldn’t know for sure as her orgasm tensed inside her lower belly, so inescapable and strong, her entire body shivered as it washed over her.
Everything tingled—from the smallest of her toes to the top of her head. She could faintly feel Regina’s tongue caressing her folds, careful not to press on the most sensitive part, just licking her gently as Emma’s body thrummed with the aftershocks of her orgasm.
Emma wasn’t sure how long it had taken her to come back from her high, but Regina waited patiently for her, and when Emma’s eyes finally opened, a warm smile greeted her.
Emma smiled back.
“You’re amazing,” she whispered, her throat dry and her eyes unfocused.
With trembling hands, Emma grabbed Regina’s cheeks, who still on her knees complied to the passionate kiss that Emma bent over to give her.
Regina tasted like sugar and applejack and Emma and fuck, if she hadn’t been a goner before, she certainly was now.
“What do we do now?” Emma asked, probably ruining the moment, but incapable of putting it off much longer.
If everything was going to blow up sooner or later, she preferred it to be sooner so she could deal with the consequences later.
Regina exhaled, her eyes still closed, her forehead resting against Emma’s.
“About the curse?” She whispered. “...About us?”
Emma’s heart went crazy.
“About everything.”
Regina stiffened, but nodded regardless of her discomfort. She stood up slowly, barely with the help of Emma since her knees were still too weak to hold her up, (how she has remained standing even after the power of her orgasm was beyond Regina).
“We have to break it.” The conviction in her voice made Emma feel even weaker. “Rumplestiltskin might be able to help. This is his curse, after all.”
“I’m sorry, who?”
“Gold.”
Emma’s post orgasmic bliss was being replaced by a headache way too soon.
“We’ll talk to him, see if he’s not too much of an ass to cooperate and then… I’ll talk to Henry.” Regina’s resolve wavered momentarily at the mention of their son, but as Emma watched the fear crawl towards her, Regina maintained her composure. “Then… We’ll see where to go from there. He’s not going to be the only one upset with me if we manage to break the curse.”
Emma made a face.
Yeah, that wasn’t going to be nice.
“I get it if you prefer to sit this out,” Regina’s words caught her attention, breaking Emma apart from all of the ugly scenarios that they were surely going to be experiencing if—when—the curse was broken. “This is something I did, I should be the one dealing with the consequences.”
Emma’s protest couldn’t have interrupted her soon enough.
“Hey, no. I’ll help.” Emma supposed this would’ve been the appropriate time for one of those hero speeches that were so well liked in movies, but her brain was still barely functioning and she had just stepped into the role of hero an hour ago, so she figured she was more than justified not having one off the cuff. “Savior job and all.”
Regina hummed: “Savior job and all…”
Emma smiled then.
Regina was so transparent sometimes, Emma found it absolutely delightful.
“And for you, of course.”
Regina tried to hide her blush away, but Emma caught it before she excused herself to the bathroom to change into clean clothes.
Here was Emma Swan, looking at herself in the mirror in utter disbelief. Not even a day ago she had tried running away from what now seemed like destiny. She couldn’t deny the anxiety bubbling at her chest, she had never been a hero before, how was she supposed to know if she was doing it right? The urge to jump out the window and flee nagged her, but as the nerves threatened to take over her body, the sound of Regina moving around in the apartment, probably waiting patiently for her to get out and come and help her halted all of her doubts.
She was doing it for Regina.
For Henry too.
And she supposed for the rest of the town who were under a terrible curse none of them had ever wanted to partake in in the first place, too.
…Mostly for Regina.
Bonus.
“Dear, I’m going to be late.” Regina whimpered as Emma thrusted against her ass, the force of her movements bending her over the counter.
“I’ll be quick, I promise.”
“Emma, you’re making this redemption thing much harder than it needs to be. You were one of the many who authorized my contract. The punctuality clause is almost at the top.”
“Who do you have to visit today, anyway?” Emma groaned, still reluctant to let go. “Reschedule.”
“You know I can’t reschedule, that’s also on the contract.”
“I shouldn’t have allowed Snow and the others to set so many rules before I signed.” Emma sighed, giving Regina’s ass one last squeeze before breaking apart, allowing the older woman to turn around to face her.
Breaking the curse had been sort of easy enough once they had talked to Henry and Regina had apologized.
Emma had believed true love’s kiss was too sappy to be real, even when technically Storybrooke and its inhabitants were fairytale characters, but remembering the close embrace between Regina and Henry, days after her confession and apology, followed by Henry kissing her soundly on the cheek, Emma decided she was going to let it go, only on this occasion and because Regina was cute.
Convincing the rest of the town not to burn her at the stake… Yeah, that had been a little bit harder.
And although Emma was still positively scarred for life when Snow—her mother, no less—had come into Regina’s mansion unannounced to check on Emma (who had set herself on bodyguard duty 24/7), and had found her between the former Queen’s legs, she supposed she had to thank her for talking some kindness into the rest of the people of Storybrooke.
Apparently being in a pseudo-relationship with the Savior had its perks, besides the multitude of orgasms, of course.
So yeah, on her path to redemption, Regina had signed a contract, one in which under a set of controlled (and somewhat ridiculous) rules, she promised to help everybody reunite with the family and friends they had lost once the curse had taken place.
And it was great because people had stopped being downright rude towards Regina thanks to her good deeds for the past month or so, but it was making Emma insane because she hadn’t been able to get proper “alone time” with her ever since and it was bordering on torture at this point.
“Listen,” Regina wrapped her arms around Emma’s neck before she gave her a quick peck on the lips. “I have to visit Jefferson and reunite him with his daughter. It’s not going to be easy, we have… History,” she cleared her throat. “But I’m sure he’ll be one of the easy ones.”
Emma nodded, somewhat lost on why that mattered at all since Regina was clearly still leaving, but before she could complain about it, Regina opened her mouth again.
“He’s my only appointment for the day. If I finish soon enough…”
Emma’s eyes twinkled.
“Really?”
Regina laughed. “Yes, really.”
Emma’s excitement could barely be contained. She kissed Regina, hard enough to bruise as her hands roamed her well defined curves. There were many things about Regina that made Emma go crazy with desire, but her body was without a doubt one of those which made her brain turn off with need. Before her hands could reach under Regina’s skirt to lift it up, Regina broke apart, breathing heavily and with lipstick smudged all the way to her jaw.
“I’ll leave.” She swallowed, taking advantage of Emma's confusion at the sudden movements to escape the scene.
Before Emma could realize it, Regina was already in the foyer, purse on her shoulder and her car keys in hand.
“Wait!” Emma begged, quick on her trail. “You’re not going to kiss me goodbye?”
“I already did!”
“No! I gave you that kiss as an ‘I really like you and I’m excited about what could happen tonight’ kiss, not as a goodbye kiss.”
“Miss Swan,” Regina tapped her foot against the pavement, too hurried to deal with this but still not enough to just walk away from the conversation. “For my own sake I cannot kiss you like you did moments ago.”
“Why not?!”
Regina groaned.
She was going to be late, dammit.
“Because you’ll make me wet,” she finally said, looking around to make sure no one was listening in (and thank Goodness they were all alone because otherwise she would’ve conjured an earthquake for the Earth to swallow her whole despite the “no magic rule” on the contract).
“And I’m not wearing any underwear.”
Regina’s words barely registered inside Emma’s brain, but when they finally did, Emma almost fell flat to the ground.
“Regina!” She called out, in hopes of stopping her but it was much too late. Regina was already inside her Benz, a devilish smirk shining on her face as she took in Emma’s desperate expression. “Regina, come on!”
Emma was almost certain Regina had said goodbye before she sped through the quiet of Mifflin Street, but her head was buzzing and the image of Regina wearing nothing under that tight skirt wasn’t going to leave any time soon, so any brain activity she might have had, was for sure dead now.
“I should’ve added a spanking clause to that contract,” she muttered under her breath as she dejectedly made her way back into the house.
Emma looked at her watch.
It was barely ten in the morning.
She sighed.
It was going to be a long fucking day.
(And for Regina… She would bear it without resistance).
