Keep Your Fears Close [The Shadows are Always Watching]

Summary:

Over the years, Sam and Dean have learned a few rules regarding their lives as hunters: demons can’t be trusted, silver bullets for shifters, iron for spirits, most monsters are kill first and ask questions later, and angels like PBJ sandwiches (or maybe that’s just their specific angel).

But there’s always an exception to every rule.

A demon that can’t be exorcised? A monster with no reliable weaknesses? A creature intelligent enough to run once hunters nearly kill it? An absolute son of a bitch that thinks its funny to bury Baby beneath a foot of snow as a diversion (that absolutely works, damn it)?

To stand a chance against this new breed of enemy, they’ll have to be vigilant.
Especially when the darkness has eyes… the night has ears…

And the shadows are always watching…

Notes:

This isn't my first fic, but it is my first in the fandom. It's been stuck in my head for several months now, so I hope you enjoy it!
There will be warnings when the story gets particularly bloody/possibly triggering (thus the Teen rating) in the top notes before the chapter. I tend to be pretty descriptive, so if you're a little squeamish I'll tell you when to scroll and mark the scenes so you can skip them. There will also be a small summary at the end of the chapter so nothing gets missed should you choose to skip. I also have a trigger warnings list as the first chapter.

For those after the Destiel tag, that won't come for a long time so it'll be quite a wait before it happens. i tagged it so anyone who doesn't like it can skip, but just know it'll be a while before I can start writing it in.
