“Ash!”

“Dedenne!”

Goh stared in shock as Bonnie ran into Ash.

“Bonnie! It’s so nice to see you again,” Ash said, “How are you doing?”

Bonnie giggled; “I’m doing great!”

“You have your very own Pokemon now, don’t you?” Ash asked.

“Yeah!” Bonnie took a Pokeball out of her purse and opened it.

Goh couldn’t help but gape at the massive Tyrantrum that loomed over them.

“Meet Rocky!” The Tyrantrum, apparently named Rocky, leaned its head down and Bonnie scratched it under the chin. Rocky made a pleased sound before walking away.

“Was that the Tyrunt that you befriended?” asked Ash.

“Yup, it's evolved now, and I have Dedenne and Squishy as well!”

Goh had guessed that the Dedenne in Bonnie’s purse was hers, but he had never heard of a Pokemon named Squishy before.

Ash turned around to gape at Bonnie; “You caught Squishy?”

Then out from Bonnie’s purse came the strangest Pokemon Goh had ever seen. It was green, with only one eye and a red hexagon on its chest.

“That’s the strangest looking Metapod I have ever seen,” Goh couldn’t help but remark.

Bonnie giggled and the ‘Metapod’ looked rather offended.

Before anyone could say anything, they were interrupted by giant robot arms crashing through the wall and grabbing all their Pokemon.

“Prepare for trouble,”

“And make it double.”

Goh couldn’t help but groan at the pair of familiar voices.

“They’re still chasing after you?” He heard Clemont mutter.

“ –prepare to fight!”

“Meowth, that’s right!”

Wobbuffet !”

“Team Rocket!” Ash shouted angrily, “What are you doing here?!”

“To steal Pikachu, what else?” Jessie said.

“An’ we’ll take all the other Pokemon too!” Meowth added.

Goh grit his teeth and his hand hovered just above around Cinderace’s Pokeball.

“Wait a sec,” James suddenly said, pointing at Squishy, “Isn't that the big green Pokemon?”

Jessie gasped; “You’re right! It is that giant green Pokemon that destroyed the Giant Rock!”

“Well then, let's nab it for the boss!” Meowth declared.

Goh couldn't make any sense of what the trio were saying, Squish wasn’t big, nor did it look like it could destroy a giant rock.

“No!” Bonnie shouted, “I won’t let you get Squishy.”

Squishy warbled something to Bonnie, and the blonde girl tilted her head.

“Oh, okay then.” Bonnie turned back to Team Rocket; “Squishy, let's go!”

Squishy hopped forward and glowed. Goh watched in awe as green lights began converging. When it faded, a green and black, serpentine Pokemon stood where Squish had once been.

“Zygarde…” Goh breathed in disbelief.

He had, of course, heard about the Kalos Ciris, and seen the news about the destruction of Lumiose City, along with the footage of the two Zygarde fighting. But he had never imagined seeing the Legendary Pokemon in person, much less seeing it battle.

Zygarde proceeded to use one of the most powerful Dragon Pulses Goh had ever seen.

The Dragon Pulse hit the Team Rocket balloon, freeing the Pokemon, and sending the trio blasting off into the distance.

“We’re blasting off again!”

Goh dimly registered Ash and his Pokemon reuniting, but most of his focus was on the sight of Zygarde, holy Arceus, the Legendary Pokemon Zygarde, having just sent Team Rocket blasting off again.

Zygarde glowed again, but with this time, the green lights went away instead of towards it. The light cleared, leaving the small form of Squishy, who was promptly picked up by Bonnie.

“Wha…but…Squishy…Zygarde…” Goh spluttered as he tried to make sense of what just happened.

“I think it's time for proper introductions,” Clemont gently interrupted, “Bonnie?”

“This is Squishy!” Bonnie picked up the small green Pokemon, “It’s one of the Zygarde cores!”

“Squishy is Zygarde?” Goh asked in disbelief, because even though he saw it with his own eyes, Squishy couldn’t possibly be Zygarde, could it?

“That’s what I said, silly.” Bonnie giggled, and Squishy looked very smug.

Goh couldn’t help but pale, he had probably offended Zygarde by calling it a Metapod, didn’t he?

++++++++

Turns out he was right.

Whenever he went somewhere, he would always trip over Squishy. Goh also got a scare when a green, canine Pokemon jumped at him when he was leaving the bathroom.

To top it all off, he kept seeing these strange, flatter and completely green versions of Squishy all around the place. When he tried to search for them, they never appeared.

++++++++

“Something is up with that Squishy of yours,” Goh complained to Bonnie, “I keep tripping over it, and seeing these small, strange versions of it.”

The girl in question simply giggled.

“Squishy is probably offended by you calling it a Metapod,” Bonnie explained, “You should probably say sorry.”

“But it did look like a Metapod,” Goh protested, “It can’t get mad at me for that !”

“You should probably say you're sorry, or Squishy will do much worse,” Bonnie, who looked rather scary for a 10-year-old girl, threatened.

“At least I’ll be back in Kanto soon,” Goh muttered, but it was overheard by Bonnie.

“Remember, Squishy has Zygarde Cells all over the world, so it can find you anywhere!” Bonnie reminded him cheerfully, “Now, I have to go feed Rocky, bye!”

Goh stared at the retreating girl’s back and paled at the realization that he would not be safe, not even away from Kalos.

++++++++

After being tripped by what felt like the hundredth time, Goh knew what he had to do. Later, after Ash defeated Drasna, Goh sought out Squishy. He found the Zygarde Core sleeping in a patch of sunlight.

It turned to look at him expectantly when he approached.

“I’m sorry?” Goh tried, but Squish gave him an unimpressed look.

“I’m really, really sorry for calling you a Metapod?” Goh tried again.

Squishy gave him the tiniest nod and promptly went back to sleep. Goh took that as a sign that he was forgiven.

At least he knew to never, ever call a Zygarde Core a Metapod ever again, but then again, how likely was he to run into another?

Notes:

I'm finally back!

Who else is excited for the Steven vs Ash episode? I know that others might not like it much, but I love the Master's Tournament, and I really like how they FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGE that Ash knows ALL THE FREAKING CHAMPIONS.
