Chapter 1: If I like him, shoot me

Notes:

Hello lovelies, I hope y’all enjoy the first chapter. I may or may not have just rewatched that 70s show and may or may not have love Jackie and Hyde’s dynamic. Anyway I’ll probably put a bunch of that 70s show references in here just because. I’m not really sure how many chapters there will be or where the story will go, but I do my best to make it worthwhile.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Shigaraki sat in his room stewing, killing all the zombies that dared to appear on the screen. The USJ attack did not go as planned. The infiltration went smoothly, except there was one problem. All Might was missing; he had managed to subdue the heroes present and scatter the students, but the blond so called symbol of hope was nowhere to be found.

He was furious and forced to fight one on one with Eraserhead, who was admittedly one of the more tolerable heroes. The villain decided that he would have some fun as he placed all five fingers on the underground hero's bare skin, decaying it and releasing the raw elbow. Tomura then called over a Nomu to capture and crush the pitiful, injured hero.

Just then Kurogiri appeared, informing them that a student had escaped in an attempt to inform the other heroes. That wasn’t something the villain had accounted for. They only brought the low level npcs with them to take care of the students and distract some of the heroes as they fought All Might, and that bastard didn’t even bother to show up.

It wasn’t long after he was informed about the missing student that some random kids tried to attack him. Without wasting a second, Tomura lunged forward, fingers extended, aching to decay something before giving up. When he make contact with the girl though, nothing happened. Eraserhead unsurprisingly nullified his quirk. The greenette thought he was a surprise.

The first encounter Shigaraki had with Izuku Midoriya was during the USJ attack. The boy, along with some other low level npc, hero wannabes had defeated a small portion of the leagues recruitments. Normally Shigaraki would have ignored the twerp, except he stood out. There was something special about the green haired kid. Something he couldn’t quite put his finger on.

The green haired kid had aimed an attack at Tomura. The attack was powerful enough that Nomu needed to absorb the blow. Shigaraki hadn’t expected anyone so powerful to be in the class. He couldn’t help wondering what it would take to get the teen to join the league. A quirk like his would be a major upgrade. Unfortunately Tomura wasn’t given more time to study the gremlin.

All Might finally showed up out of nowhere and started depleting his army of villains. They were forced to retreat and Shigaraki was left to explain his failure to sensei. Weeks went by as the villain tried to devise a new plan. The goal was to gain new recruits. “Networking” sensei had called it.

Some of the UA kids looked to be pretty promising candidates during the sports festival. The only problem is that they’re too heroic. That Iida kid for example, has a good quirk, but according to their informant he’s a total stickler for the rules. There was one decent looking brat in the bunch, Bakugou katsuki. He’s a total recklose and hot head. He had a powerful quirk and seemed to have little to no respect for the hero's authority; a perfect candidate for the league.

Shigaraki found himself looking forward to watching Midoriya. He had only seen a glimpse of the boy's quirk during the USJ attack. From what the villain could tell, it was destructive. even without using his quirk something drew tomura to the kid. The broccoli headed kid could be a useful asset to the League. The way he fought with no remorse for his own body, the way he analyzed his surroundings in such a precise way made everything he did exciting to watch. Shigaraki found himself watching clip after clip of the teen. He wouldn’t call his fascination obsessive, but he did keep a picture of the greenette in his back pocket at all times.

Midoriya would make a great recruit with all the skills he had to offer. The only problem was the kid‘s a good guy to the bone. The brat was even encouraging his opponent as they fought. His eyes gleamed when the other student finally used his fire quirk. It honestly didn’t matter if Midoriya would choose to join them. He just can’t stick around with the heroes.

If he could convince the overpowered teen to join them then great. If not then he at least needed to get the greenette away from the heroes’ reach. He can worry about obtaining new recruits later though. The problem at hand is Stain. The hero killer was gaining all kinds of attention when all he’s done is kille a few people. It's nothing Shigaraki hasn’t done.

The twenty year old couldn’t figure out why stain was getting so much attention and the league wasn’t. Shigaraki tried to get the other villain to join their league. The hero killer’s philosophy sucked though. They met up with him, but when stain asked what their end goal was he refused.

Stain claimed to want a more just world, and after hearing that the league’s goal was to destroy it he opted out. It took Shigaraki explaining how they had a common enemy (All Might) and that they should team up just until he’s out of the picture. The npc agreed which allowed the league to piggyback off of his fame and also hopefully kill the stupid blond hero.

The league planted some nomus in hosu to help stain out. Shigaraki watched from above, observing the whole fiasco. He was pretty bored with the show until a certain green haired teenager came into view. The brat was saving the blue haired punk from the hero course. They were fighting with Stain.

Personally Shigaraki wanted to berate the other villain for touching what he so rightfully deserved to destroy, but as the leader to the League of Villains it would be dumb to save some heroes in training from his alleged ally. And so, the villain just watched from above as the scene unfolded.

Shigaraki’s emotions were a whirlwind of turmoil as he found himself cheering for the broccoli headed hero in training. Midoriya, along with some other UA students, actually managed to defeat Stain. It was kind of mesmerizing to watch. They didn’t stick around long after that. They left, and let Stian get captured.

The supposed hero killer was captured and behind bars, and yet people were still talking about him. No one was focusing on the league and their contribution. All the News outlets were focusing on stain and his stupid plan to make the world’s heroes more heroic and selfless. The villain had just spent the better half of the day watching reporters and reading news articles on the Hosu attack.

For now the villain just wants to stretch his legs. He made his way to the mall. The last person Shigaraki expected to run into was Midoriya Izuku. He wouldn’t admit it, but heart skipped a beat when his eyes landed on that messy green head of hair. Seeing the teen all alone the villain decided to walk right up to him.

“You’re that kid from the sports festival.” he said as he placed his arm around the younger, inhaling the subtle minty aroma. He watched as the greenette mumbled and stuttered out some sort of response. Shigaraki smirked at the teen’s ramblings. “This feels like destiny,” he continued as he wrapped four fingers around Midoriya’s small neck.

If he tried he could probably wrap his hand all the way around the teen’s neck. Midoriya looked up to him then. His beautiful emerald eyes fearfully staring at his face. Shigaraki couldn’t help thinking that the teen looked cute. He felt his muscles pulling his mouth into a smile as he asked, “Why don't we spend some time catching up.”

Midoriya looked like he was contemplating fighting him, so Shigaraki quickly explained how easily he could kill the greenette and some innocent people too. To the villain’s delight Mdoriya agreed to talk. He walked them over to a more secluded area while dragging Midoriya by his neck. Shigaraki actually liked the feel of the soft freckled skin beneath his fingertips.

“What do you want to talk about,” the teen grumbled out as they sat down on an empty bench. “Everyone’s talking about that stupid hero killer.” he hissed out. He looked down to see Midoriya rolling his perfect green eyes in annoyance. “Tell me, hero, why is he getting all of the attention instead of the League?”

He could feel every vibration as the younger male answered. “He has a goal, a reason for killing people, but no one knows what your goal is. You just kill to kill. People can at least understand what stain was trying to do, because like me he was inspired by All Might.” Shigaraki tightened his hold at the mention of the blond hero.

“Of course” he laughed out as Midoriya's hand came up to grab at his own. “It all comes down to Allmight doesn’t it?” he asked, not really looking for an answer. “That’s my goal, little hero, to create a world without All Might.” he looked down again to see tears in the younger boy’s eyes and his freckled hand gripping his sweater. He found himself loosening his grip.

The greenette coughed as he sucked in all of the air that he could. “Bless you… with a question mark.” the villain said, unsure of what else to say. Midoriya just glared at him as he tried to regain his breath. “Look,” the greenette said after a while, “you just seem like a grown man throwing a tantrum. It’s not a good look on you.”

Shigaraki looked at the teen, shocked by his honesty. Had anyone else said that he probably would’ve decayed them without hesitation, but Midoriya intrigued him. “Then tell me little hero,” he said, bringing his face closer, “What is a good look on me?” His freckle covered cheeks turned into a soft shade of red.

He began to move his fingers upward, caressing the soft green curls at the nape of the young hero’s neck. “What would you say is the best look for the most dangerous villain in Japan?” He watched as the teen’s lips opened and closed, similar to a goldfish. “Hmm?” He asked when Midoriya gave no response. “Should I be an attention seeking hero only saving people for the sake of fame?”

He watched as the Younger’s face scrunched up in confusion and then as his eyes widened with either shock or fear. Suddenly midoriya was grabbing his face with his hands. He didn’t have any time to react as their lips connected in a bruising kiss. He was about to pull away when he heard another UA student.

Clever, he thought, realizing that the kiss was a ploy to get the girl to leave without asking any questions. Not wanting to be out done by Izuku Midoriya he deepened the kiss. He tilted the greenette’s head to get a better angle. Shigaraki licked his bottom lip while his free hand grabbed the teen’s waist. The greenette gasped at the motions, allowing the villain to explore the inside of his mouth.

As they continued to make out Midoriya dropped one hand to the villains wide shoulders and with the other hand tangled his fingers into the periwinkle hair. Shigaraki was actually enjoying himself until the teen accidentally or maybe on purpose pushed his hoodie down. The villain suddenly remembered where he was and who he was making out with. With a hard shove he pushed the teen away.

Standing up he looked over to the teen who had wide eyes and a hand touching his lips. He just stood there in front of the hero panting and trying to regain his composure. After coming out of his own stupor Midoriya looked up and said, “Dazed and confused isn’t a bad look on you.” Shigaraki couldn’t help gawking.

Shigaraki scoffed at the younger male, “Whatever, let’s just agree to never mention this again and I promise not to decay you next time we meet.” “Sure,” the greenette said with an unreadable expression. Shigaraki nodded before shoving his hands and his pockets and walking away. He knew how to hide in a crowd and quickly made his way back to the hideout.

Shigaraki slammed the door to the bar as he walked in. He didn’t pay any attention to the patrons as he made his way to the stairs. “Were you out with your girlfriend?” Dabi, one of their newer recruits asked with a grin plastered on his face. “I don’t know what you mean.” Shigaraki said, trying to feign ignorance. “I think you do,” the league member remarked, following him.

“You see,” the fire user spoke, “I saw you making out with the little broccoli boy, and I think you like him.” Shigaraki halted in his tracks before spinning on the other villain. “Listen hear fuck face. I only made out with that brat so I wouldn’t blow my cover. I don’t like him, okay? I can’t like him. If I like him then shoot me.”

Dabi smirked before firing a finger gun at him and walking away. Shigaraki just growled in response and headed right over to his room. He couldn’t like Midoriya. It wouldn't make sense. The teen worshipped everything he despised. And yet the villain couldn’t help replaying the scene in his mind.
