There was a time when being around these people would have felt overwhelming, but in a good way. There was a time when being around Mike Wheeler, just being in the same room as him, would have been utter bliss and comfort.
That felt like a lifetime ago now.

“You can’t have him,” Mike hissed, his nails digging into Will’s skin as he clung even tighter. It was like Mike was trying to absorb him. “I won’t lose him again. Never. Again.”
“We won’t take him from you. I promise. But you are hurting him Mike. You don’t want to hurt Will, do you Mike? You never want to hurt Will, you want to protect him.”
Mike snarled at Nancy, “Never! I would never!”
