It's not everyday you meet someone you can call your soulmate, and for that, Dongmin was grateful.
Dongmin didn't dream about fame and stage lights and fans cheering his name since he was young, he didn't dream of money and fancy cars nor a family with lovely children either. Dongmin didn't dream of anything. He was a disciplined boy who didn't argue with his parents and always had his homework done on time, never got in trouble and was his parents' pride and joy. And that was it. There was nothing in it for him, it was all for his parents. They wanted him to be top of his class so he studied hard, they wanted him to be the class president so he worked hard for it, they wanted him to be a lawyer so he dreamed to be one.
The one thing Dongmin did for himself was playing sports, and with time, as he became very good at them, his parents pushed him to be better and better because he couldn't be any less than ace.
Dongmin liked being his parents' pride, he loved seeing the love in their eyes when they saw his result card or when he became the president of yet another school club. And when his dad made him promise to not date until he is done with high school he was a bit put off, because that was the one thing he wanted for himself.
Dongmin had always wanted to fall in love, he was a hopeless romantic boy who spent hours reading romance novels and imagining how it would be when he fell in love, he imagined the dates, the cuddles and kisses, and he won't get any of that until he graduated high school.
Dongmin's dreams were all drastically changed one afternoon, when his physics teacher encouraged him to go for that entertainment company audition to be an idol.
And so he found his first dream.
He didn't think he would be accepted, he didn't think his parents would approve, and he certainly had no idea he would be one of the biggest stars in the world, not just in Korea, one day down the road.
He also didn't expect to find love so soon.
The love Dongmin expected was a petite, giggly, young woman with rosy cheeks. The love he got was giggly with rosy cheeks, but it wasn't petite, and certainly wasn't a woman.
Love came in the form of Bin; a lean teenager whose voice was too high for his liking. Love came in the form of strong hands picking Dongmin up when he stumbled and eyes looking at him with fondness he never felt before. Love came in the form of extended training till the wee hours of the morning, to make sure he wouldn't fall behind other trainees.
Bin was everything he wanted in a lover and more. Bin was his mentor first, soon became his boyfriend, then his best friend, and a while after he became his roommate. Bin was everything to him; the shoulder to cry on, his confidence booster, his motivator, his mirror, whatever he needed, Bin provided without a stall.
And so he got a new dream.
"Sanha is really a main vocalist now." A voice snapped Dongmin out of his thoughts. Bin sat opposite him in Jinwoo's personal studio, waiting for their turns to record his last composition. He was clad in one of his many grey hoodies and had a black beanie on his head, his glasses perched on his nose completed the comfortable boyfriend look he never thought of but always pulled effortlessly.
Dongmin smiled, "Yeah. He improved a lot."
He unlocked his phone and pulled up Bin's private chat, smiling at the last bear sticker Bin sent him. Adorable.
'I love all the small things about you. Those imperfections are what makes you perfect to me. Love your husky yet soft voice singing me to sleep, your eyes on the days you wake up bloated, your thin wrists and pink cheeks. Love your lopsided button nose and the little scrunch it does when I kiss it. Love your hair. Healthy or damaged, it's beautiful and it's a part of you. Love your high pitched laugh, your cute cat attitude and your fascination with science. I'm so lucky to have you, Binnie. And I will love you forever.'
It became a habit of his when he started spending a long time away from his boyfriend, to send appreciation texts randomly and wait for Bin to respond with his cute blushy stickers. Although this was the first time he was sending one with Bin right in front of him.
He pressed send, and as he heard the message notification from Bin's phone, he opened his phone camera and had the pleasure of watching Bin's reaction, the crimson blush seeping into his cheeks and his eyes turning into little crescents. He made sure to snap a photo the second Bin's eyes flew to meet his. A smile bloomed on his own face at Bin's reaction, just as Jinwoo's deep voice called for him to record his part.
The moment he turned around to go into the recording booth he felt a hand on his arm, pulling him into a too-familiar kiss. He couldn't help but smile into the kiss. His smile growing bigger at Jinwoo's exasperated voice, "Not while we are working, for fuck's sake."
Dongmin was a changed man. He was a man of many dreams.
